Travel / Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Portblueholland: 10:33am On Nov 11, 2022 |
They haven’t changed their processing times though. My mother submitted her application on the 4Th of November and she got the visa yesterday the 10Th. The passport didn’t get to the embassy till Monday (7Th November) because of the weekend so processing time was roughly 2 days. She got a Multiple long term visa to visit me and the family in the Netherlands. We used the EU route as myself and my wife are both EU citizens so she didn’t have to pay for the visa. I was shocked the visa was even granted that fast. She was denied Schengen visa 6 years ago though. Hope you get yours soon. davodyguy: |

Hi all, I have a question. I was trying to book an online appointment for my mother at VFS lagos but it seems they don't have any spot for " short stay/family visits first time traveller" but since she has been abroad three times already in the past I decided to book "short stay frequent traveller" I hope this won't be a problem? she has never been to the EU/Schengen and its her first time and I really need her here next month to take care of my baby. I am also having issue with flutterwave they won't accept my credit card ; |

I would like to share my experience about SA. First of all for those trying to live there on a visit VISA I will advice you DON'T do it!!! You will be stuck and stranded because it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for you to change your status when you are in the country, they will refer you to go back to your country of origin to get a residence permit. I have been to SA four times 3 times on visit visa and finally the last time on student visa. I didn't really want to study anyway my aim is to go to Europe since my wife is European and the fact that I have been denied several times by European embassies in Nigeria (Germany Sweden 2x and Greece). The first time I went there my mind was blown away immediately! This country is one of the BEST place to ever live. I have been living in Europe for the past 4 years and SA especially Western Cape is better than many European countries especially Eastern European countries. You can get decent accommodation in a nice neighbourhood for around $500-$600 per month. I used to live around the city center and its a bus ride from my school CPUT. The roads are clean and neat (European standard) and there is a-lot of activities to do there. You can also actually work and earn a good salary provided you have the required experience and degree because most South African companies prefer to hire foreigners than South African citizens. South African citizens usually depend on the government for assistance and they do get paid monthly even when they are not working. I met the man who connected me to my school here on Nairaland. He had links to the school as he had previously studied there and he helped me pay for my insurance and also secured my accommodation. My application was approved at the Abuja embassy after only 7 days. I included the basic requirements like bank statement insurance etc and the application was very straight forward. I was issued a 2 years visa and I only spent five months in SA before migrating to Europe. If you want to migrate elsewhere (America Canada Australia etc) and you are having issues getting a visa or permit in Nigeria, then SA is your best route. They don't travel much and the embassies over there do not get work overload or cases of visa fraud. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in SA and we visited twice since we moved here. Amazing country and amazing people. I am actually planning to either migrate back there or Dubai next year once I am through with my citizenship application. . Peace! 7 Likes 1 Share |

You got it totally wrong when you mentioned SA. I have been there over 4 times in-fact i got my long term EU family member permit there after been rejected in Nigeria 4 times. The VFS over there is organised and less crowded, South Africans don't travel and we were barely even 5 people there during my appointment. As a South African you get a Shcengen visa within 48 hours I was shocked. It is a VERY and HIGHLY organised country especially in the Western Cape and life is generally good regardless if you are a citizen or foreigner. IN SA electricity water and many advanced amenities are available for everyone to use and you HARDLY find any pot holes. I drove from Johannesburg to Cape Town almost 18 hours journey without any issue. To be honest SA for me is the best country I have ever visited. I have travelled extensively in Africa Europe and Asia and SA still is the BEST country ever! The only country in Africa where its citizens and to some extent foreigners get social security money. birdmansoho: 2 Likes 1 Share |
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Portblueholland: 1:49am On Oct 09, 2020 |
Hey guys! I have a question, I intend to go to the US next year and I am applying from Amsterdam. I filled the DS-160 form and I haven't finished uploading my photo but I already got a DS-160 number. My question is can I apply and pay for an appointment with this number? Won't the number change after I finish with the DS-160? I'm wondering if the number is temporary? Regards |

No! Not in Holland. I've lived here for several years and there's a big difference between the Netherlands and Paris. Paris is slowly becoming thirdworld with dirty streets and beggars everywhere and their train stations are very unkept, you can easily get mugged too. Its relatively very different in Holland. We have very strict rules and you'll hardly see dirt on the road plus there is NO pickpokets because of police presense everywhere. omotolanibaby: |
