Why women choose bad boys over nice guys has been a mystery since time immemorial. Even to women, that remains to be an enigma. This is our version of "Why Men Love Bitches". Why women choose bad boys? We will probably never understand. Here are 10possible explanations I can offer: 1. Breaking the rules means fun.Women want someone who can bring them out of monotony or mediocrity. They want someone who can give them an adrenaline rush. Or someone who can constantly keep them on their toes. The bad guy is a rule breaker. And so the bad guy is appealing. 2. The media's influence. A lot of movies feature stories about women falling for jerks who are actually nice or turned nice in the end. My personal favorite is Good Will Hunting. Sad to say, even Disney movies like Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast indirectly suggest that not all bad boys are downright evil or worthless. 3. Bad boys exude confidence andconfidence is sexy. Nothing is more attractive than a man who knows what he wants and fights for it. 4. Daddy issues. If you're a fan of How I Met Your Mother, you know that Barney Stinson's favorite "prey" are women with daddy issues. They are discombobulated. It could be because they're rebelling so they want someone exactly the opposite of their daddies. Or because of homing instinct. They gravitate to what is familiar with them or what makes them feel at home. 5. The challenge. Men love the chase, women love the challenge. The challenge of turning the rebel into the ideal guy everybody wants to marry. So I guess we can also say that women don't like bad boys because they are bad but because they like the idea of being responsible for his transformation into the nice guy. That sense of accomplishment to achieve something that seems impossible to achieve must be really enticing. 6. Girls just wanna have fun. Men are not the only ones who are afraid of commitment or settling down. Since nice guys seem to be the marrying type, some women avoid them. They don't want to be "tied" yet. 7. Solving the mystery. The bad boy in the story has a story he hides from the world. Again, the thrill in unraveling the mystery behind that bad boy image is exhilarating. Curiosity gets the better of her. 8. The need to be rescued by the knight in shining armour. According to clinical psychologist Dr. Kanan Khatau Chikhal: “Most of these women who fall for these kind of men are intimidated by the outside world. They are shy by nature and are instantly attracted to someone who can take on the world, protect them and take care of them.” 9. Inferiority complex. The lack of self worth often lead women (or even men) to believe they deserve to be treated like crap. So they look for someone who can give them such treatment. 10. Women's love for underdogs. Women are naturally sympathetic and are born with maternal instinct. They tend to look for someone to care for. They easily feel the need to protect and care for those considered as society's reject or are often picked on. http://posquare65..com/2014/09/why-women-choose-bad-boys-10-possible.html?spref=tw VIA www.posquare65..com |

Politics / Ekiti Elections: IGP Refutes Allegations Of Partisanship, Says Police Exhibited by posquare(m): 1:27pm On Jul 04, 2014 |
Police High Command has again commended the “unparalleled professionalism” of its personnel that participated in the policing of the Ekiti gubernatorial elections, describing their selflessness and dedication to duty as having contributed to the success of the election, which was widely acclaimed to be free and fair. In a statement by spokesman Frank Mba, the police described as “unkind and misleading,” the caustic remarks made in a television interview by the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who it said claimed that a particular political stalwart held a meeting on the eve of the election with a so called “Strike Force”, comprising the Army, the Police and DSS, and instructed them to protect the interest of their benefactor. It strongly refuted the “improbable allegation” and warned politicians to desist from promoting such deliberate falsehood. “While noting that at all times officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force only take lawful orders from their commanders, the Police High Command expresses gladness that at no stage of the election was any case of professional misconduct or partisanship reported against any Police officer, rather, the officers exhibited a high standard of discipline, fairness, civility and political neutrality all through the process, a conduct which Ekiti indigenes, election observers, the contestants and people of diverse socio-political leanings have attested to and applauded,” the statement said. It advised politicians and other stakeholders to respect the wishes that it said were freely and voluntarily expressed through the ballot in a rancor-free atmosphere by the people of Ekiti, adding that the Police Force is neither a political party nor affiliated to any such group and therefore should be left out of partisan politics to enable it freely discharge its mandate of protecting the integrity of the electoral process dispassionately. |

X-Men director Bryan Singer officially filed a motion to dismiss the sex abuse case against him on Thursday! In his motion he claimed that there wasn't a legal basis for the lawsuit, and that it was improperly brought against him by a British actor who remains anonymous, and who is only identified as “John Doe 117.” On top of that, he's seeking a $300,000 bond from the actor to cover Bryan's anticipated litigation costs, which, according to the motion, are most likely to be “exorbitant.” With a hearing on the various motions made in this case being set for August 18, we'll see if the judge acquiesces to his and the other defendant' demands! http://posquare65..com/2014/07/bryan-singer-filed-motion-to-dismiss.html?m=1

Crime / CHIBOK KILLINGS: Police Aware Of Attacks On Christians by posquare(m): 1:49pm On Jun 30, 2014 |
Two weeks before Boko Haram Islamists attacked a series of churches on Sunday near Chibok, the northeast Nigeria town where more than 200 teenage girls were kidnapped in April, the police in the area were informed about the impending raid. But they could not do anything to prevent it. A top local government official in Chibok, who pleaded not to be named, revealed this to journalists after the deadly attack and arson on Sunday. He said when they received information about the impending attack two weeks ago, they went and informed the police and sought protection. But the police told them that they had logistic challenge. Thus the residents were at the mercy of the insurgents who invaded the community for several hours without any challenge by security operatives, killing and burning churches. The council official said Nigeria needed to step up its fight against Boko Haram, as residents in the northeast were being left to die with little protection. “The Federal Government must do the right thing by taking the fight to the terrorists,” he told AFP. Residents said the gunmen riding on motorcycles opened fire on worshippers and pursued them as they tried to flee into the surrounding bush. The attackers hurled explosives into churches as services were ongoing and torched several buildings, witnessed further reported. The targeted villages have been identified as Kwada, Ngurojina, Karagau, Kautikari, all in Borno State, the stronghold of the Islamist group which has killed thousands during a five-year extremist uprising. “The attackers went to churches with bombs and guns,” Timothy James, a Chibok resident said by phone, explaining that the villages were within 10 kilometres (six miles) of Chibok. “From what I gathered, dozens of worshippers, including men, women and children were killed,” he said. Enoch Mark, an outspoken Chibok leader since the April 14 kidnappings, gave a similar account, saying the raid was ongoing: “presently, as we are talking now, we are under attack. “I was told the attackers burnt at least three churches to the ground,” he added. Other reports had it that five churches were burnt during the bloody rampage. He said the community would be able to get a more accurate death toll once the violence abated, but feared the dead numbered in the dozens and that gunmen were firing on people as they ran into the surrounding bushlands. Boko Haram, which has said it wants to create a strict Islamic state in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north, has attacked churches throughout its insurgency. According to Mark, the military did not responded to distress calls after the attack began. “They just went and got a hiding place in the bush,” he told AFP. While it was not immediately possible to verify the charge, if true, it would likely raise further questions about the military effort in the northeast. Following the April abduction of 276 girls by Boko Haram from a secondary school in Chibok, parents and local leaders accused the military of doing almost nothing to secure the release of the hostages. Fifty-seven of the girls escaped within days of the nighttime raid on the school and local officials have said that 219 are still being held. International outrage has spread since the kidnappings and Nigeria has promised to better secure in the northeast, which has been under a state of emergency since May of last year. In the weeks after the shocking April abductions, a social media campaign involving prominent world leaders and celebrities drew unprecedented attention to the Boko Haram conflict. Nigeria has accepted help from major world powers including the United States, France and Britain to rescue the hostage schoolgirls and improve its counter-insurgency tactics. Some analysts had hoped that increased cooperation with Western militaries including intelligence sharing could help Nigeria cut down on Boko Haram attacks, which have been a relentless and often daily occurence throughout the year. But so far the gains have been limited and the Chibok government official said the community was struggling to understand why they were consistently being left unguarded. “It is beyond our comprehension that the terrorists are coming out in daylight to kill people,” with no resistance from troops, he told AFP. |
Politics / Group Accuses Giade Of Shielding Drug Barons by posquare(m): 1:36pm On Jun 30, 2014 |
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, CACOL, on Monday accused the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, of fraternising with drug barons in Nigeria saying this is a major reason the anti-drug war of the country had not yielded any positive fruit. The organisation said it was forced to cry out following several petitions it had received on the activities of Giade and the ineptitude of the agency to perform its duties. At a press conference in commemoration of this year’s Anti-Drug Day, CACOL founder Comrade Debo Adeniran said there are monumental cover-ups at the NDLEA and that these were masterminded by Giade. “At the moment, not less than 12 petitions have been forwarded to the presidency, National Security Adviser, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, stakeholders and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against the ineptitude and unbridled corruption by the NDLEA boss. “It is on record that within one year, between 2005 and 2006, when Alhaji Giade assumed the reins of power at the agency, a whopping 197 drug convicts are known to have been helped to evade the four walls of the prison, even after jail sentences were duly passed on them by various courts of competent jurisdiction. He quoted a magazine report of 22 April, 2013, which said 101 convicts in 2005 and 96 convicts in 2006 were illegally freed by “a criminal syndicate of NDLEA prosecutors, defence counsel, and prison officials, thus making a complete mockery of our country’s justice system.” He also quoted the report of Justice Gilbert Obayan National Committee for the reform of NDLEA submitted in February 2007, which reported a pervasive jail reacketeering and jail evasion very common in the NDLEA in collusion with prison officials. “All the super rich drug barons have to do is to part with some millions of naira, which gives them no hassle to part with, going by the humongous gains they make from the illicit trade in the long run,” he said, noting that since Giade became the chairman of the agency, the NDLEA had not secured more than a three years conviction for suspects against sections 11, 14, 19, 20 and 21 of the NDLEA Act which prescribes a minimum of 15 to 25 years imprisonment for such convicts. Adeniran, who said he had a petition from Mr. Paul Audu, the Chief Superintendent of narcotics of NDLEA, Taraba/Adamawa States Command to that effect, recalled that the Obayan report made sound recommendations, including the compulsory disengagement of the Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, Mr. Femi Oloruntoba for heading a Directorate that connived with defence counsel to soften the ground for drug convicts to walk away with lighter sentences, but which Giade says has been overrun by events. In the petition shown to reporters, Audu accused Giade of running the agency as a family business. Audu revealed that “Giade’s romance with drug barons started in 2005 during the arrest of Akindele Ikumoluyi, popularly known as Ile Eru 1, who had been an internationally wanted drug baron.” Audu, who was instrumental to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect, was posted to the north as his punishment and he had since remained stagnant, not promoted or transferred in line with the NDLEA Act. Adeniran lamented that since then, the Giade-led administration of the NDLEA has never arrested any drug baron apart from the few couriers it has arrested so far. He urged the presidency and the EFCC to immediately begin the prosecution of Giade and his loyalists, saying that if this was not done, CACOL would be forced to begin series of protests to force the government to action. When contacted, Mitchell Ofoyeju, the NDLEA head of Public Relations, said the petition lacks merit and that it was engineered by people who are angry with the successes recorded by the NDLEA under Giade. According to him, the NDLEA seizes over N30 billion worth of drugs yearly and some people are not happy with this action of the agency. Ofoyeju said the petition first surfaced four months ago, but that because it failed to see the light of day, those angry with the agency and Giade decided to increase their efforts, but Giade would not be distracted by the antics of these enemies. |
Sports / Robben In World Cup Diving Storm by posquare(m): 1:27pm On Jun 30, 2014 |
Dutch star Arjen Robben remained at the centre of a diving storm Monday after the Netherlands’ controversial 2-1 World Cup win over Mexico. Bayern Munich winger Robben admitted that he dived during his country’s round 16 clash against Mexico. “I must apologise,’ said Robben. ‘The one [at the end] was a penalty, but the other one was a dive in the first half. I shouldn’t be doing that. That’s awful.” Mexico coach Miguel Herrera said the penalty was “invented” and debate intensified after the Bayern Munich striker admitted he had dived in the first half in a bid to get a spot kick. Wesley Sneijder and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar led a late Dutch fightback to beat Mexico 2-1 while Costa Rica advanced with a dramatic 5-3 penalty shoot-out win over Greece. France play Nigeria and Germany take on Algeria in Monday’s last 16 games. Robben, who is often accused of going to ground too easily, fell in injury time after a tackle by Mexico’s Rafael Marquez. Portuguese referee Pedro Proenca pointed to the spot and Huntelaar stepped up to bury the winning penalty. It came just moments after Sneijder had scored an 88th-minute equaliser to cancel out Giovani dos Santos’s superb goal for Mexico. Robben admitted to diving in an unsuccessful attempt to win a penalty earlier in the first half. “I really have to say and at the same time apologise in the first half I took a dive and I really shouldn’t do that,” Robben said. “That was a stupid, stupid thing to do but sometimes you’re expecting to be struck and then they pull their leg away at the last minute.” But he insisted he had been fouled in injury time. Mexico were furious however and coach Herrera lashed out at referee Proenca for awarding the penalty. “The penalty was invented,” said Herrera who added that Robben should have been punished. “The determining factor was the man with the whistle. He put us of the World Cup,” said Herrera, whose country has now lost in six consecutive last 16 games. The Dutch now face a new Latin American test when they play Costa Rica in the quarter finals in Salvador on Saturday. Robben could face disciplinary action following his admission to diving. FIFA’s disciplinary code states that ‘anyone who violates the principles of fair play’ could face sanction, while article 96 says that audio and video recordings are permissible as forms of evidence, meaning Robben’s words and footage of his dive could well be reviewed. Speaking in February of this year, FIFA president Sepp Blatter called for retrospective action to be taken against divers. “Video evidence can be used for serious breaches of the principle of fair play such as brawling, spitting at opponents, verbal insults and racist slurs, or for incorrectly awarded red or yellow cards,” he said.
