Well I don't know much about Abuja market .. I think Abuja rental is 25k per week and Lagos is 30k rental per week .......

My advice is if you can start on rental first before buying ur own car . At least drive for 6 months or more before deciding to buy ur own car .......

How many partners are ready to give their cars to newbies with few weeks Uber/bolt registration.
You go soon see advert now
“Not less than 3yrs on either platform with good ratings “ and give us previous partners contact.

Most of the issues about your car compressor going bad etc .. This is due to owners neglect and am sure the use of the local freon is what packed up ur compressor .. So u can't nobody but urself.....

Things are tough now and the economy is bad .. No matter how u look at it u still go hustle.. When people complain about how hard it is driving etc .. What about does kids or adults hawking things in the hot sun in traffic .. Those are the ones suffering running up and down trying to sell market in the hot sun .. And at the end of the day how much are they taking home ....alot of them will love to trade places with you ......

And if u think about it those street hawkers will do well driving uber.. They will do well in the uber profession and I can bet it that you will not want to trade places with them hawking .. You will not last 1 hrs hawking in that scorching hot sun .......

It is not easy anywhere .....

My point is this, if I had used all my life saving to buy car , how will I fix d compressor? When I fell sick who will pay for me. Just pointing out unforeseen situations in this hustle, unlike other jobs that will pay u when sick or not available.

It’s not easy anywhere and we all know that but bros if you know how many people want to start driving cos of dashboard and adverts.
Even Lagos state rush go buy cars thinking that dashboard earning sweet. Begin bring up lassra, drivers badge.

Last month a close guy borrowed money 550k to fix is car dt has been dead for 3yrs and was asking me for extra 150k dt immediately he starts driving Uber he will be paying back. I just weak...
Cos of his expectations.
I’m not against anybody hustling, I’m only telling them realities.
Due to covid many people have lost their jobs and coming to hustle, it’s better for some to try another biz or at least understand the hustle before jumping into it.
If e no dey pay at all we no go dey here. People dey use am feed, pay rent, fees and all...

When u are ready to buy ur own car . you should go for 2003 to 2005 Honda Civic .. I am not a big fan of naija used cars due to obvious reasons of abuse and neglect of previous owners.....

The Civic will serve u well if u take good care of it .. It will not affect your ratings at all .. Look for a civic that the previous owners has used the recommended oil .. Civics are good cars.....

Below is the one been used in Lagos for the past 2yrs plus now .. Good on fuel and parts are cheaper.
that is Honda Accord

I will not encourage anyone to take out loan for a car and neither would I give loan to anyone .. This is due to the Nigerian factor........

My advice is for anyone that wanting to take loan or buy car for uber . is to test the waters first by doing rental for few weeks or months and get comfortable first.. Once u pass that stage . than u can decide if paying car or taking loan is the right choice for u

Just put out a challenge, highest earner between January and March wins 50k.

You'll be surprised at the number of drivers that met and surpassed your 300k net.

You didn't see the destination before you accepted the trip?
You know some times these destinations come without the LGA attached just the street so you can't really tell.

Though most times such request that comes without the LGA name are probably within the sane area your presently are but I've experience cases where the trip is a long trip which is far away from your present LGA.

So I thought it's one of those request I no no say na yeye

It is well we can't get into issue wit all riders, I've made up my mind to try as much as I can not to get into any unnecessary argument with riders. I just want to meet my target and go home.

Interesting to say a rider call me Ard 1 this morning asking if I can come pick her. Damn! Me too b human being nah, I need rest when due.

Lol... Like you mean 1am midnight?

That was how some guys I carried offline to and fro to a party last two week to magboro thought maybe because I billed them just 13k 9am-4pm they now think I'm cheap. One night that I've just gotten home na so them call me to come take them to Parker's in ikeja, looked at the time 12midnight...

Me: ha! Bro curfew dey oh...
They: which curfew? Come jor make we go flex nor.
Me: your money na 5k...
They: 5k ke, no worry.
Me: thank you... Good night.

I just use price pursue amgrin me once I don enter my area nothing dey carry me comot again.

*MORE HUSTLING TIPS/RED FLAG AND DANGER ZONES TO AVOID PICK UPs/DROP OFFs FROM.*

1. Bolade Road Junction by Moyosore Plaza, Oshodi. On no acct should you drop off or pick up a rider here. If u must do so, make sure u drive into the Plaza or into SONEG filling station.

2. When driving out of the airport, on no acct should you stop to give anybody a ride no matter how d person may appear to be like even if they are dressing like Imams or reverend fathers. It is a complete trick to get your car clamped down for 35k to 50k. Many drivers have been tricked tru this method.

3. On no account should you park anywhere around the entire airport without it being inside any of the approved car Parks.

4. If you must pick up a visibly sick person, ensure that he or she is accompanied by at least one person.

5. Avoid parking and sleeping inside your car behind Excellence Hotel Ogba. Local govt touts will come and burst or harrass you there.

6. If you are coming from Fadeyi and you are to connect Bajulaiye/Moroco Road just by the first bank, make sure you make use of the round about and not just turn to the left in the manner in which you are coming. LG touts are always there at that junction inside KEKE Maruwa waiting for any driver to make the mistake.

7. Avoid parking on anywhere around UNILAG road area. In short, anywhere you are parking in this Lagos, just ensure it is inside a street. Lagos uniform men no sabi wetin dem dey call emergency or hazzard lights ooo‍♂️.

8. Avoid parking on any road around the entire Ikoyi area. Avoid picking up riders in frot of passport office.

9. Don't make the mistake of dropping off/picking up riders at Oshodi Under bridge. U may not be lucky.

10. Don't wait for a rider to do transfer to you inside the airport. Ur car could be clamped down in the process.

11. Be careful with the traffic light at Palm Avenue/Ladipo Junction. LG touts are always there.
If any LG tout jumps into your front at anytime and the road is *free ahead* , please treat his forkup or if u are a swege homand is colleagues will treat your forkup and move ooo‍♂️but at your own risk‍♀️‍♀️

*Pls edit and add your own. Let's make this robust for new drivers.*

And the thing is you'll see some pilots driving that car with their AC on into that ocean and I'll begin to wonder "is this guy a human being or something".

I carried some guys from Arepo to Ikeja some 2weeks ago and they were just talking to themselves how reckless and rough the other driver that brought them there was... One even said, I sure say no be him get that car, he then said, you go know say na this bros get this car from the neatness I side to the way him dey drive but that other guy na every gallop him dey use speed enter.

I just dey look them dey smile for my belle like say I no dey hear them.

The point is, there's money in transportation business but it's not for everybody. That there's money in it doesn't mean everybody should venture into it. Look for what you have passion for otherwise it will drain you and you're get frustrated in it that you'll start wondering and suspecting how those succeeding in it are doing it. They're not using any jazz its their destiny.

Another important thing needed in the racketting is the right driver, that's if you can't stand driving yourself full time. Any driver wey never get involve in any serious accident that cost you money or make you sleep for cell omo hold that driver well ooh... Transport business na spiritual oooh as money dey am na so enemies plenty.

I've seen partners who are still paying family of the deceased who his driver hit and ran.

In fact ... Its been God shall... May we not see evil!

When I started dis hustle, I had more than 1m in my account but wanted to be earning 300/400k every month.
So I went to bake my car, bought two brand new tyres, fill up AC gas, made sure no noise and my car was looking like executive/vip. The inspection guy self trip for my car.
First month - nothing nothing
I managed to finish 13 trips in a week.
In my quest for knowledge I got to know about dis thread and then it was an argument/challenge dt u can net 15 k every day. Na so I join, I became rugged, accepting all trips to anywhere, inside rain, flood or bad road na go, any trip drivers reject I accept. Card or cash i no dey reject. working round clock (when I complete Uber 12 hrs I drive on bolt till 1am sleep and up by 4:30am everyday, friday morning to Saturday night no sleep at all( taking energy drinks/coffee) tops I sleep inside one estate in lekki, while bolt app is on incase olosho wan move from client house before morning. o boy come see money, loose cash everywhere... I left d geng of lazy naira land drivers.

2 or 3 months after my AC compressor packed up, changed it - N38k or so
Kazeem say condenser too must be changed. From dt to front shocks , leakages, bushing , back tyre swollen.
Back shocks gone.
To crown it all, I fell sick on wheel dropping a lady at home. I had to park in a compound and slept. D woman was scared cos of d way I was shaking, make person no go die for her house.
So I went back to nairaland and started reading from way back. Nobody tell me before I join d lazy drivers geng. Na d saving grace for me.

Small sickness hook u, u come run. grin grin

U didn't tell us how much u made when u were working round d clock o.

Experience is always d best teacher bro...u have to work smart not hard.

I just added Oworo on my list of destinations never to go even if surge is x10
