Congrats, call Fintiba to return your funds back to the account it was charged from or otherwise. Best way for quicker response is through phone call.

please people that booked yesterday ,are you still booking against summer or towards october for winter.
i mailed my school informing them about the visa cancellation , they told me anytime i get visa i should come if i don't meet up summer i can join winter. they asked me to choose one so they know which fees i would pay, As it stands i don't even know if I would get appointment in winter.
I am just confused.

No matter the case, Please read this:

the actions of the embassy has been extremely unprofessional, and has lasted now for 3 consecutive academic sessions and we are gradually getting used to it. e.g some have already rebooked appointment without asking if things would be different.

So picture this scenario:
A student maps out his time usually months(30 days +) applying to different schools up-to 3, 4, or more, writing and editing several applications, motivation letters, answering questions like reason why they choose their course and the school,
sending mails with courier at almost 30,000naira(DHL which i use often) per mail, pay uniassist 75euro(25,000 depending on fluctuating exchange rate) per application.
pay school for application and at times enrollment fees(e.g TUM ).
and finally excel above other international competing students and gain admission.
we make it look easy, but it is not, some of us are self sponsoring with excellent determination
and the embassy would not give a tangible reason why they don't want to meet with this student for an interview after this hurdle.
Last year summer and winter was exactly the same , you can read the post on Nairaland and confirm, people are still registering again without questioning the outcome.

Nigerian students we no longer have to blame the bad government as it has never been a viable solution. Can we try something different.
Can we extend our voices by reaching out to government offices( Dont say they won't do anything yet , lets do our part first) in a not so stressful manner(through e-mail) , while being polite (make it a plea) and keeping it loud(By lending our voices individually, you and I, not for the outspoken ones) , let our voices be heard. Enough of complaining about bad government or bad students abroad. and start acting positively.

I have a clue:
1.
We need to let the embassy know that we need a bit of transparency, let them give us informations we can work with, not blindly applying without
a yes or No wether we would be getting an appointment. example :
"summer applications are limited try winter,",
"If you do not have a scholarship letter or a first class do not apply",
"if you do not meet a particular criteria do not apply",
"Due to corona we are taking this fixed number of Nigerians, and if the figures exceed
they should inform the students on time so we try other countries".
Schools in Germany apply this method and it works, it helps scale them number of applicant,
making the screening process less stressful.
honestly , I don't know any tangible reason why i was not granted appointment for summer,
at this point I am going to repeat the exact steps I took again which obviously didn't work.

2.
If they receive huge number of applications, then will we would like to know
if it would be possible to opt for third party institutions , Indians do it, they use VFS global
and it has made them travel around Europe with ease, if their is any set of Nigerians who should
be denied migration as a result too much immigration , it should not be students .
Education in Africa should be given priority.

3.
April and October being an already established date for school resumption, the embassy
if being handled by a competent and innovative head, should opt for temporary expansion of
workforce during these peak periods. The embassy should anticipate before hand the huge influx of
students and make adjustment towards expanding their workforce .students already pay visa fee up to 30,000naira
hopefully it should cater for the extra aid they would need.

4.
I believe if a student having spent his time and limited funds going through the long application process,
and the school accepts, after placing him/her higher than other international competing students , the embassy
should hear him/her out (Interview). and decide if he/she meets the criteria for studying in Germany.
Now, their is a big difference between denying visa and not being invited for interview.
One being denial of student visa after interview is an indication that the student do not meet the required criteria for
traveling which is generally acceptable while the later, that is not being invited for an appointment is a case of the embassy
not capable of handling student interview and should take quick actions towards it, to help these
excellent students achieve their long planned goals.

Please if we can in unanimously , work towards moving this motion as a plea to the right offices, hopefully something would be done to that effect.
just have in mind that after summer last year were denied visa appointment , winter was also denied . so lets do something to this effect so things wont go wrong again this year.

drop emails of embassy and government office who might help to this effect.

thanks.

Guys, lets be realistic. Have you researched the effect of Covid on European economies? I think it will be selfish of us to think that our student visa should be their top priority. Just yesterday, France entered another lockdown, a new mutant is killing them in hundreds and we think that they will open their borders because Nigerians are coming. Abeg lets receive sense. Come to think of it, which schools in Europe are open? Or you think you will attend lectures in person when you arrive? My people 90% of courses are taught online in Europe as we speak, so when you enter those countries you will sit at home and god-help-you, there is no menial job for you to fend for yourself and you will just be indoors and watch courses online, is it better than what we have here? Australia shut their borders for over a year now, i know of a lady that came back Feb 2020 for her trad and have not gone back since, no body is allowing any body. I searched for a software intern position in UK(on LinkedIn) and lo and behold 250+ applicants. It will be so stupid of me to think that the job is waiting for me when i come. And since there is lockdown, the menials jobs self no dey. the best jobs now are delivery managers and it was dues to Covid. This Covid turned Europe upside down.

Germany almost entered a lockdown before Easter and with this new variant in France and Italy in partial lockdown, they might soon enter another one, like seriously, a country in lockdown will open their consulate and grant you visa? As far as am concerned, this year is not even the best time to travel cuz you will suffer small if you dont have enough money and/or sponsors. You will just be at home, morning till night.

The vaccine is really helping them, but since the production is slow, it will be a gradual process until everything becomes normal, and to be honest, it will take Europe almost 5 years to return to full normalcy.

My advise for anyone will be to get that Admission (this one is more importanter) and then defer it, wait and watch as things unfold and then apply for your visa, you can apply for your visa immediately but no too carry am for head. If you are lucky to start it online, do it with joy cuz my brother, you will go to Germany and do the same. (this time around with bills every month)

The only valid point you raised is that they should be straight forward with their visa and state clearly what we should know.

My two cents.....

I was interested in studying in Germany last year but due to the Corona ish. Couldn’t proceed with it.

Today I wake up and fell that I should make use of My Toefl before it expire by May 18. I want to quickly use it to apply for Msc in computer science or something related.
Is this possible?

Also does uniassist requires TOEFL upload?
I’ve uploaded some of my document on the website and I want to proceed to payment for one of the application so evaluation can commence and I can use that to apply for other school later.
Does my Toefl expiring nullify the evaluation.

Also is it a must to certify a photocopy of the document because what I have uploaded is the scanned original copy.

Kindly threat as urgent and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Which of those options should I tick?

Note: I don't live in Abuja. I don't have a Scholarship and I don't know anything about TestAS cert?

Is it compulsory I tick one? If I don't tick will it affect my application?

I've gotten Admission to a School already

If the embassy was a Nigerian embassy they would have started insulting them by now ,
But it's Europe , so it can never be their fault , we are always the problem.
We are 24 in our class , more than 15 are Indians and they are in Germany the only guy I know that hasn't received visa is from Bangladesh and he told their situation is like ours .

Its going to take a lot to convince Nigerians that we are not always the problem.

If corona was the issue , it only takes a call for the embassy to tell the student as early as January that he or she might nt get a visa ,

Here, its per head , even when you say let's unite and question them why they refused to interview students, some think it might not work .

We Nigerians are now the ones giving them excuse why they refused us visa ,
Even the embassy never said it was due to corona ,
But Nigerians have used corona as an excuse for them ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️.
A guy even came to the blog and was blaming Nigerian embassy in Germany,
Saying that the Nigerian embassy should have informed the German embassy

It's a disorder , a situation where you have to blame yourself even for problems you didn't cause.

Though summer last year could have been affected by corona , that was the initial stage when people didn't really know what it was ,
But as at winter October , my neighbour he travelled to UK for school, I personally drove him to airport, not like someone told me.

And now summer 2021, the embassy knew fully well and never used corona as excuse , but we are giving them excuse.
Our attitude will never help us, everything is per head , if students from lastyr did this for us, question the embassy , we won't have been like this. A lot travelled to Dubai , at least I know a lot of them that did their interview in Dubai this summer,
Soon their younger will still come .

I will just like to put it out there for anyone thinking we do not have a reason to be worried about this whole interview issue.

First off, I will like you to know that other West African countries have the luxury to can choose desired interview dates. You can check the link below to verify.

German Embassy Ghana (CAT A & CAT B)
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_category.do?locationCode=accr&realmId=279&categoryId=452

German Embassy Benin Republic (No Category)
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_category.do?locationCode=coto&realmId=552&categoryId=882

German Embassy Togo (No Category)

Germany Embassy Cameroun (No Category)
https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_realmList.do?request_locale=de&locationCode=jaun

Again, if we say it was because of covid, please tell me why some of my coursemates from China, Turkey, the US, India, Ghana e.t.c are on campus!!
Plus, the covid case in Nigeria is not as terrible as it is in some European countries.

Now let's go to the mathematics of the block account, as we all know, we have some people who have already blocked 10,000EUR into their accounts. If I can assume, maybe 200 people in Nigeria have already blocked their accounts. That is 10,000* 200 =2,000,000EUR (N1,130,000,000)
Yes, over a billion naira and that is just an approximate in the German economy.

If we wouldn't want to deceive ourselves, most enrolled students in Nigeria can not put in their 100% with the hybrid studies. So many uncertainties, how do you study efficiently??

Like what happens after semesters online, you don't get a visa? What next?

There is absolutely nothing wrong to involve the Nigerian Government in this situation.

My Take!

You are totally right cause this German embassy in Nigeria is the problem... Our covid situation is far better than any European country so why are they treating us this way. Ghana, Cotonou etc are close to us and not suffering this issue.

The money aspect I think u are wrong in that cause the embassy actually says we should get an appointment date before anything like blocking money. Nigeria is not a respected country. It is not today. plus terrorism in the north is making us lose more respect internationally.

the earlier we start speaking up the better for us.
I urge everyone, this is not a period of doing per head.
If students started speaking from last session , it won't have gotten to this extent.
For those using covid as excuse for the embassy,
Does it mean category A are immuned to the corona virus.
Let the respective bodies hear us, . wether you are going to Togo or Ghana for your interview, at least for the sake of your younger ones and people coming after .
For newly admitted students dont feel ignorant, you will only get to know when October reaches . and your parents and friends will be looking at you like someone with fake admission.
The embassy never used corona as excuse , so dont give it to them,
2years from now it is going to be a norm , that people don't get to be interviewed after booking appointment for. Months ,.
We better unite at this month and fight this ill.
Don't always call the Nigerian govt .
Abike dabiri as at last week Wednesday was defending her office in her statement she claimed she has engaged with the lady who was denied entry into senegal , that was after she was insulted on twitter , if the lady had been quiet and blaming the govt nothing would have happened.
Come on social media lets address these people ,
The hash tag has been twitter #germanstudentvisa2021
, address them properly without insult and things will definitely change ..
Thanks .

I think the normal thing is to have the money blocked as soon u apply to avoid the stress of not getting confirmation on time before AD. But in our very unique situation in Nigeria, the best thing to do is not to deposit money untill u get an AD.

We are not waging war with the German embassy but we are just asking to be treated nicely like humans and not like miscreants that deserve no empathy. We are just seeking for the right to a good quality education which we all know and believe we can get in Germany. And I tell u, the few online classes I've had, was really enlightening, I've learnt some new stuffs. So if students who has placed high regard on German education and get treated this way is heart breaking.

Finally, I think one of us already put something out there on Amanda Chisom blog on Facebook, so if we can all lend our voices there, it could get the attention of the responsible authority who knows this could get a resolve. There has to be a solution around it.

I say again this is not about attack on the embassy, it's a plea to be at least granted the opportunity to be interviewed. Visa can be denied ofc if it doesn't meet the requirements, but an opportunity for interview should not be denied I think.

God bless us all and have a beautiful Easter celebration regardless of how u feel.

Cheers!!!!

Cheers!!!!

I have to really commend the bold voices for coming out because what is being done to us Cat B folks at the moment is wrong. There's nothing normal about it. I know our collective reputation as a nation may not be the best at the moment but students should be given a chance to do an interview at least. Someone who took the stress of applying and paying the various fees should be committed enough to his studies. Not everyone fancies that stress.

This is really not the time to chase just your individual interests. That's part of what spoilt our reputation as a nation. If we lend our voices as a unit, we'll be louder and have a better chance of being heard.

Please, can I get a link to the Facebook post or something?

The embassy never stated that a student or an applicant can be denied an appointment.
And they made sure it was never stated in any part of the website. And yet they inform someone who applied since October 2020 , in march 31st that appointment has been cancelled, for no reason, they was no evidence of regret or remorse in that letter, because we are used to being treated like shit.
The website clearly stated that category B, who changed their mind due to the long wait period and failed to honour their interview, will be deleted .
Secondly, they clearly stated that only applications with fully funded blocked account, would be acknowledged.
It never said you fund your account when you get a date.
Its assumed every student who applied funded their BA.

This is a case of incompetence to deliver their duties ,
And negligence to the students.

Winter is coming, the earlier these issues are addressed the better , they a lot of countries for masters students,
The earlier they tell us our fate the better.
So it won't be 31st of September we get another rejection letter , and that will be the fourth from last year.

Let's join our voice , till they hear us.

Very informative brother thank you.
But I want to ask what if you haven't stayed in the country for up to six months can you still move?
I mean smaller European countries like ukraine.

TESTIMONY
Although it's coming late but I know it will be a good source of information for those that are already in Ukraine and want to move to Germany on a Student visa.

My Journey to Deutschland is a case of Determination and Gratitude to God.

I started my Deutschland journey January 2019, I got 5 admission from different schools by May 2019...exactly the month the German Embassy in lagos started this Category A and B of a thing...with thier conditions I fall into Category B. I booked an appointment with category B in May 2019..I prayed and fasted for a month for an appointment and that's to no avail...middle of June I booked category A with a leap of Faith and got an appointment immediately for 6 days later being 24th of June 2019.

I went for my appointment that day after check with Mr Paulinus I was allowed in...when it's my turn to be interviewed..the visa officer was so nice to me but had to turn me back as she said I can't be interviewed cos I didn't belong to category A...I was devastated but it didn't kill my spirit...I had to come back home and rebooked category B with my fasting and prayers. The winter semester 2019 passed no AD, I got an admission for summer 2020 booked and appointment again for Category B the summer semester passed no AD.

By May 2020 I told myself the truth that if I must achieved my dream of studying in Germany I must do it the hard way...I checked up for Ukraine as it will be a good route for me...I applied for Ukraine study visa and got my visa by August 2020. I moved to Ukraine in October after thier lockdown lifting on september 28.

Getting to Ukraine I registered with a school, Got an accommodation and also got my residence permit by end of November 2020. I also got my admission for Germany summer semester 2021 but I was confused whether I will stay in Ukraine for six months before applying from there...I called thier visa center..( Visametric).that was in December of 2020. I told them that I came into Ukraine in October that was 2 months back as of then...if it's possible to apply immediately or stay for 6months...They gave me a wonderful news I wanted to hear that I can apply immediately....they gave me date of on the phone immediately for December 11 which I later cancelled cos my block account wasn't ready..and rebooked for end of January 2021.

On the day of my appointment I went to the visa center ( visametric) at kryshatric street in Kiev.. as they told me on the phone..that there won't be any interview for the visa....It was only me that came for the submission that day..They just checked my documents and confirmed it was ok..I paid my vfs fee, visa fee and thumprinted.

Exactly a month after I received a call from the visametric that my documents has been returned from German Embassy and will be delivered the next day...my BP was on the high side as I wasn't aware of the content but I was very hopeful...when the parcel was returned the visa was stamped to the Glory of God. I was given a 6 months visa as against thier normal 3 months because of corona.

I arrived Germany two weeks ago... Germany is beautiful... Germany is powerful...I have been to Ukraine but seriously u can't compare the two..I just moved into my apartment in Nuremberg city and in the process of my residence permit at the moment.

THE GERMAN DREAM WORTH IT..... PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP..

your determination was excellent congrats.

Learnt a lot from your story,
Its all good , and some people are still registering in category B. Acting ignorant till when they get rejection letter by October . they will come and start blaming Nigerian government.
The rejection already started in 2019 that is even before corona virus came.
Please let's all unite and question this ill treatment,
The embassy should stop registering category B , students na..
Even if you travelling to other countries , please . let's question them.
And if you are traveling, also drop your format , let's assist each other at every opportunity. Brothers and sisters ,

The Lord who has started this good thing will complete it in your life bro. Big congrats

I'm in the same shoes now and a lot of people tell me I need to be in Ukraine for at least two years before I can move. I came here in February and I plan to leave by September. God will do it for me I believe.

This is also a note to other applicants in Nigeria. Let's tell ourselves the truth now once and for all. I had to make that difficult acceptance and realize that if I want to come to Germany I have to leave Nigeria first. It's so much more easier here trust me.

In the meantime please bro I've sent a mail I have a few questions to ask please. Thank you very much.

Firstly, I will like to say they can travel from turkey on a short term resident permit also.

I live in Turkey with my wife.
We initially left Nigeria to Cyprus for a Msc and after one semester, we left to turkey, we had a short term permit before we started another masters here.

I’ve got loads of friends that have gone to US, Canada and even Germany on a short term permit. The embassy says “you must have a valid resident permit” and not a valid Long term permit.

Secondly, I live in a furnished apartment. It depends on your budget

Thirdly, all of the things he’s said apart from the 2 are very correct.

But I wanna ask bro, did you finish your education here in Turkey?

Coming to turkey to apply for your Germany visa is worth it if you have the strength
Hi Guys. It’s been months I put up this post here and I’ve received mails and requests on the process and how everything went. People have asked about the cost implication and the possibilities. It appears my post wasn't totally informative and will like to update it.

So, I left Nigeria for Turkey on a study visa. Before I left I did some research on the kind of permit I will be getting and if it will be eligible to apply for a German National Visa in Turkey.

In Turkey we have long term permit and short term permit. The long term permit is issued when you are a student, a worker, a refugee or a business owner. The short term permit is issued when you go as a tourist. Going as a tourist to Turkey is the easiest and cheapest option especially if you have a reason for going there. There are factors you must consider when you want to apply for a tourist visa to Turkey - factors like the time of the year(December to April is not a good time because of the winter season). Also, a tourist visa will grant you entry into Turkey and you can even apply for a resident permit that will be valid for one year, though the resident permit you'll be issued will not let you apply to the German embassy for a National visa. Only long term resident permit holders who have lived for six months in Turkey can apply for a National Visa to Germany.

As I said I went as a master's student from Nigeria. Another new law in Turkey which I noticed from most of their schools is that they don't grant Msc admissions for February intake, though I was fortunate to get mine in February 2020. So I went as a student. The university I applied to had a tuition fee of $4,000 for the whole program and you will have to pay $2000 for the first semester and for registration before you are recognised as a student and granted eligibility to apply for your long term resident permit when you get into Turkey.

For living expenses in Turkey, their national currency is the Turkish Lira which is not so stronger than the naira. For accomodation you can have a budget of $150 to be paid monthly. the houses don't come furnished but you can furnish them from the second-hand market. With a budget of $300 you can get a bed and mattress, kitchen items , a sofa and maybe a washing machine. Internet home subscription is unlimited though you will have to pay $10 monthly. Water, electricity and gas bills can go for $30 dollars or slightly lesser based on your usage. For feeding you can live on $200 (it all depends on how you eat). The job market in Turkey is not so good, most foreigners engage in trading - they buy clothes and ship to customers in every part of the world. Some people do tile exports, door exports and others. Ready available jobs are home cleaning jobs with minimum monthly earnings of 1,400 Turkish lira or 1200.

The reason I had to update this post was so people who decide to go through this route have a good understanding of what is involved.

I really hope the embassy situation in Nigeria improves so people don't have to go through this stress.

For those wishing to come to Germany my suggestion is you start learning German anyway you can and also if it's possible the schools you choose should have proximity to the big cities where you can readily find jobs and the language will not be a barrier.

I wish everyone the best.
