When Arsenal fans were hyping this guy, I was happy that my husband could see through his eyes. Just like me, he knew the only good player that Arsenal has is Saka. Others are below average. Arsenal has really lost it...

Half of the squad is nothing to write home about...

Our failure to admit these players are not good enough is the one affecting the team. Before the kick off I told a Barca fan Liverpool gonna use Assnal build their form nd they did. That's better players for u imagine the likes of Salah, Jota, Mane and Arnold still running against our boys despite being 3goals ahead of us.

I knew we didn't stand a chance with the line up but the manner of defeat is sad.

Well, I have to rewatch our match again after missing the live match and here are my observations:

1. If this match is anything to go by, then I'm not sure we're ready for the top in few years to come stuck with Arteta. Now, I'm not an Arteta out o, but I always look at process first and foremost before result, cos consistent process will surely bring out the expected result in the long run.
Now, where am I driving at? The team being used on Saturday is a team that can go toe to toe with the Liverpool team being paraded on Sunday(whether we win, draw or lose will be another discussion entirely). How the hell did we start parking triple decker bus with such players of quality we had on the field? How can we so park the bus, invite pressure unnecessarily and still play as if we're a division two team with such an array of talent. We even have a no10 that Arteta was craving for, yet we played as if we are some kindergarten guys. Klopp in his first season (wen he finished 8th) didn't cower against top sides then even when he had vast inferior players compared to what we have presently. If we park the bus against the man city and Liverpool's of the world with this our present squad, even if they give us world class players, we'll still park the bus then.

2... The structure of the play is non existent and I don't know what Arteta told these guys before the game but it seems our players were totally afraid of Liverpool. They were so afraid that we hardly pass from the back and even wen clearing ball, we don't do it with sense. We clear the straight to their legs. Even wen we want to transition to attack, we transition with fear of not been counter attacked, rather than being confident that we'll score. No wonder Pepe is always losing the ball, cos nobody is even there to help him.

3... Ceballos seems to be losing it in that deep lying playmaker role. Most of passes are way ward and straight to opponents feet. Like nothing he does ever feels right.

4... Sometimes I don't know weda we fans see things more than managers, but clearly auba on the wings don't work esp if we need our wingers to be creative as well as hardworking. Obviously and unfortunately, auba offers nothing close to both attributes so I don't know why Arteta is still persisting with him at the detriment of the team. If Arteta can't look for a way to find how he can rotate him and lacazzete in that cf position, then he should get ready for more bad results.

5... This loss is solely on Arteta and nothing else. I can't blame the players when structure is wrong, I can't blame the players when they're been instructed to play like cowards. In fact, I can't blame the players for anything. The pressure was just damn too much on us and if we'd lost that match by 1 nil or 2 nil, it would have flatter us. 3-0 and above is what we deserve.

We move!!

I was at a party when that match started on Saturday, I streamed the first part of the match on my phone on my way back but I wasn't impressed one bit. I knew the pressure pipe would burst sooner or later especially with way our play was set up.

Arteta messed up that game and the blame is solely on him. I think also there’s something missing in his match build up , maybe it’s uninspiring pep talk or something more psychological but certainly there’s something seriously affecting the psychic of those guys. I mean these guys overturned a 1-0 deficit against spurs few weeks ago and it’s kinda unbelievable they will slump to 3-0 loss to against a not-so-in-form Loserpool sitting back and making no serious move to score at least a goal.

Something/someone has to give way , I don’t know what or who , but something needs to be done. Auba cannot just go from the joint highest goalscorer in the league to perpetual missing of goals , Leno can’t just go from the baddest keeper we’ve grown to love to letting in cheap goals and even getting sent off for rash tackles , even Gabriel that has shown bright in the past is starting to lose it.

This to me is where the problem stem from. I've never seen arsenal played a game with so much fear like that. Immediately any of our defender holds the ball, the first instinct is to budeh the ball without even looking up. Our midfielders were so concerned in covering up space than actually making space for a pass, and even they still have this element of fear in them(I could notice from their passes and movements)
Attack was just disjointed. In fact, I don't know what Arteta told them, but one thing I know is that what Arteta told them certainly affected their confidence entering into that match

As for the players been off-form, I don't know to say about that, but for Auba I think he's been found out on the wings. Opposition managers and players knows he's just good at positioning and goal scoring, but aside that, he's very inferior in other skillset. If that's the case, why not push him towards the cf position where his weaknesses won't be too highlighted and where his strength will be maximized. To me, that's the best case scenario to help him.

And everyone will feel happy and say Arsenal is bag in UCl, Arterta is the man, the squad is good etc,

The board will then do another media hype marquee signing in the summer, only for everything to fall yakata next season with series of painful teary moments( cos fans hope go don rise like it did earlier in the season after the Fa cup and preseason trophy).

Koko be say, we can't patch mediocrity for long, the league is the true test of a team, and Mid table seems to be where Arsenal are ATM.

Arsenal FC need major surgery from board to the players

This exactly is the mentality of the whole club right now, owners, managers, players and fans alike.

That, aggravated by the injuries was what led to the loss on Saturday. Liverpool needed that game more.

Let's believe that by focusing on the Europa game, things will improve. I'm scared though.

I recommend disbandment of this thread..

If a lowly rated mid table team can have a thread, it's about time Leeds and Everton fans create their own thread too undecided

Long may these woes lead this team to English 2nd Division..
Portsmouth shall be your case... Amen cool

I truly understand your thoughts, and you're right about us being a mid table team due to our league standing.

But then, winning this Europa league will do us a whole lot of good than bad.

1... We'll have that European trophy that has always eluded us. Not champions league I know, but then we won't say we don't have any European trophy

2... The thoughts of losing this Europa will kill all the confidence of everyone entering into next season. And to even get any player now will be difficult for us cos we're not in any competition (for next season)

3.. The Europa league winning can act as a springboard to success (if we can use it wisely) instead of actually papering over the cracks. Arteta can be more confident in implementing his tactics and plans and he'll also have the confidence of the board to back him. He knows this squad is not good enough (he's been subtly saying it in press conference most times). So this Europa league will surely give him that edge to buy his players, if he has any.

Tho I know you don't believe in Arteta cos he's a rookie coach and inexperienced at top level but I (my opinion) just believe with his better players and his players cutting out basic mistakes, we can compete for top 4. But all that will be easy to do if we win the Europa.

If we don't win it, I'm afraid even to invest in this squad will not happen and we'll be sliding down and down the table.
