While you're preparing just remember that Ramadan is a pagan practice.

Christians in Nigeria are the ones practicing paganism because they are totally different from what christianity teaches around the world, christianity in Nigeria is a terrorist act, they always do meetings on how to eliminate muslims and Islam in Nigeria, but Almighty is always ahead of their evil plans.

Proclaimed by who?

God didn't proclaim any fast. It was common practice those days to seek the face of the Lord with fasting and prayers. Esther did it when the lives of Jews were threatened, they fasted and God intervened but that didn't make it a yearly practice.

Jehoiakim did the same when Jews' lives were threatened, God didn't ask them to turn it into yearly practice, don't look for a way to justify your paganism.

"Ramadan literally means ‘intense heat’, denoting the scorching summer month to which it was originally ascribed. It formed part of the pre-Islamic Arab calendar well before Islam came to Mecca, the holy city in today’s Saudi Arabia, in the seventh century."

"Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the rigid observance of thirty days of fasting during the daylight hours, has pagan roots developed in India and the Middle East.

The observance of fasting to honor the moon, and ending the fast when the moon’s crescent appears, was practiced with the rituals of the Eastern worshippers of the moon. Both Ibn al-Nadim and the Shahrastani tell us about al-Jandrikinieh, an Indian sect which began to fast when the moon disappeared and ended the fast with a great feast when the crescent reappeared.

The Sabians, who were pagans in the Middle East, were identified with two groups, the Mandaeans and the Harranians." (the paper goes on to detail the Mandaeans)

"The other group, considered as Sabians, were the Harranians. They worshipped Sin, the moon, as their main deity, but they also worshipped planets and other deities. The Sabians were in contact with Ahnaf, an Arabian group which Mohammed joined before claiming to be a prophet."

"In Mecca, the Ahnaf were called Sabians because of the doctrines they embraced. Later, when Mohammed claimed to be a prophet, he was called a Sabian by the inhabitants of Mecca because they saw him performing many Sabian rites which included praying five times a day; performing several movements in prayer that were identical with the Mandaeans and the Harranians; and making ablution, or ceremonial washing, before each prayer. In the Qur'an, Mohammed called the Sabians “people of the book” like the Jews and Christians.

Ramadan was a pagan ceremony practiced by the Sabians, whether they were Harranians or Sabians. From the writings of Abu Zanad, an Arabic writer from Iraq who lived around 747 A.D., we conclude that at least one Mandaean community located in northern Iraq observed Ramadan

Ramadan was Originally an Annual Ritual Performed at the City of Harran.

Although the fasting of Ramadan was practiced in pre-Islamic times by the pagans of Jahiliyah, it was introduced to Arabia by the Harranians. Harran was a city on the border between Syria and Iraq, very close to Asia Minor which, today, is Turkey. Their main deity was the moon, and in the worship of the moon, they conducted a major fast which lasted thirty days"...

"It was during Ramadan that the very first revelation of the Quran occurred. This took place in 610 AD, when Muhammad retreated to a cave on Mount Hira on the outskirts of Mecca for secluded contemplation.

In summary, the pagans were already fasting during the lunar month of Ramadan even before Muhammad was born, he only retained the tradition like he did other pagan traditions into islam.

is pity that you concocted this fallacy in the name protecting your evil religion of terrorist christianity in Nigeria, we believe that there is no god, but Almighty Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Almighty Allah, and that ISA (jesus)is not God and he is not a son of God, he remain Messenger of Almighty Allah.

Many fastings were proclaimed in the Bible by different people for different reason but the pagan Ramadan was never.

Ezra proclaimed a fast when the Jews faced a hazardous travel situation as they returned to Jerusalem from their exile in Babylon (Ezra 8:21-23). While the desire for safe travel was the immediate reason for the fast, Ezra stated the ultimate goal in verse 21: "that we might humble ourselves before God, to seek from Him the right way for us."

The fast of Esther 4:15-16 provides another example of drawing near to God when asking Him for protection.

In 2 Samuel 12:14-16, David fasted to seek God's healing for his sick child. It was during this intense seven-day fast that David wrote Psalm 51,

When Jonah preached to the Gentile city of Nineveh, the whole city came together and fasted in an incredible act of repentance (Jonah 3:7-10). The king of Nineveh ordered every person and their animals to fast and "cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way" (Jonah 3:cool. God was moved by their reverence and showed mercy by not destroying the city.

Muhammad copied the Sabians in that aspect.

Muhammad was a sex addict who couldn't hold himself, so as usual he lied that Allah had permitted him to have sex during fasting, the real God never spoke to Muhammad, even the fake Allah never found Muhammad worthy of being spoken to directly, allah had to send an unknown jinn that you erroneously refer to as jibril to Muhammad so all the words and actions of Muhammad were never by a true God.

You've proven that you don't know anything in Islam, you're a deceiver just like Allah the best of the deceivers.
Your Qur'an tells u that the Quran came to confirm what is in the previous scriptures never did it say it came to change them. But because you're hellbent at deceiving those who see you as knowledgeable, you then decided to write your own Qur'an and claim that you're wiser than Allah

"And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me."
(QS. Al-Baqara 2: Verse 41)

"He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel."

Empiree:
Oniworoworo... Mr copy copy. Who takes you serious again?.

Let me just educate you for the purposes of future audience. You keep saying fasting in the month of Ramadan has pagan root. What you failed to understand is that fasting of Ramadan had always been the way of prophets and messangers before Quran was revealed.

QUR'AN says:

"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may develop God-consciousness." (Quran 2:183).

This means that all prophets and messangers before prophet muhammad (SAW) fasted obligatory fast. Former nations such as Assyrians and the Babylonians observed fasting as a form of penance.

After prophets and messangers of old passed some of their people still held on to fasting, tainted fasting even though they deviated from oneness of God and worship idol but they still maintained obligatory fasting for the most part. That is the part Islam came to correct and standardize. Just like you also messed up identity of Jesus and ISLAM came to correct you. So there is nothing wrong should you see pagans fasted Ramadan. It doesn't mean fasting began with them. No. It began with their divine prophets and messangers to whom fasting was enforced.

Only Muslims still maintained and held on to the truth in the world today. You have diluted doctrines like pagans. This is why you have crazy-self designated fast like called "awe funfun" whereby you don't really fast. Pastors would tell you to fast but you can only eat gari, rice without stew, fruit, eba without obe cheesy . Fufu without ponmo and egunsi grin. Awon werey cheesy

You're right, let me borrow from the word of a brothere here, Xmuslim

As his post spoke my mind:
https://www.nairaland.com/6145976/never-muslim-update

I was never a Muslim for the following reasons

"1. I never chose Islam as my religion. I was born, raised and indoctrinated into Islam. I grew up and did my own research about religion and concluded that my parent religion is the correct one. Little did I know that I was bias and was looking at other religions with great skeptism - the principle which I didn't apply to Islam. I leaned about other religions from Qur'an, Hadith and Muslim scholars. So, my research was very skewed.

I can't say I was a Muslim per se because I was not in my right senses then and I was not given a choice. If I was given a neutral mind and I researched all religion using same standard and concluded that Islam is the way, then I can claim I was a Muslim."

"2. When I was in the religion of my parent,i sincerely thought it was the absolute truth based on the evidences I had. These include
a) supposed scientific miracles of the Qur'an
b) supposed numerical miracle of the Qur'an
c) supposed prophecy of Muhammad
d) supposed recurrent miracles such as name of Allah on a snail, tree etc
e) supposed miraculous absolute preservation of the Qur'an.
F) etc

I sincerely thought that non muslims deserves punishment (though I was never happy with eternal torture) because Qur'an told me that they intentionally reject Islam despite knowing with certainty that Islam is the way.

I sincerely thought that abrogation principle in the Qur'an make sense because of few examples such as alcohol gradual abrogation.

I sincerely thought that the description of Islamic paradise (full of wine, virgins etc) is same with other abrahamic religions.

I sincerely thought that every Muslims believed islam because of convincing evidence, and I never doubt that any Muslim will twist obvious flaw if found in Islam. I felt any rational being will abandon anything that lack merit."

It was when I was more educated and realised many flaws in the religion that scholars (whom I asked questions about Islam privately) started telling me why..

I should not believe my brain;
that not everything in Islam will make sense to human;
that we have been given little knowledge and we cannot discredit Islam with our own brain that is deficient.
That we should just say we hear and we obey (we should not criticise the religion of Allah)

I came to nairaland thinking those scholars were biased. To my surprise most Muslims here started reacting same way. They started saying they will believe anything in the Qur'an and hadith whether it make sense or not.

They started saying it is Allah that guided them to Islam not their brain etc.

This make me realise that I was different from the beginning, but I didn't know because I have not found any flaw in the religion. I thought we were together and that no Muslim would accept Islam if it go against common sense or established scientific fact.

Thus, if dogmatically following Qur'an and hadith is the definition of a Muslim, then I think I was never a Muslim. "

Thanks for your time

Guy, don't you get it?. The name of the month is Ramadan and it is the 9th month in the islamic calendar; just like September is the 9th month in Gregorian calendar.

In Islam we called it Ramadan. In Gregorian calendar we called it September. Same goes to every calendar in the world.

Those days in the time of Moses, Jesus, Jeremiah etc they had their names of calendar. But the most important point we want to derive in this conversation is the ninth 9th month. So Ramadan is name of the month and fasting was proclaimed therein in Islam. Similarly, 9th month of the year in the Bible, fasting was proclaimed as proven in the Book of Jeremiah 36:9.

"In the ninth month of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a time of fasting before the LORD was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah."

Is this verse not clear to you?. Who are the people mentioned in this verse, were Jews not included?. You can see in this verse entire towns and tribes were obligated to fast. It is you Christians that strayed from Right Path. You are not "Omo leyin Jesu". You are Omo leyin Paulu. Paul changed every doctrine of Jesus and replaced with him own.
