bemagnify: Are you indicating your law degree as a Bachelor's or Master's/Professional degree? Law is a professional degree which is comparable to a Masters according to IRCC, check under CRS. A CORE/HUMAN FACTOR under LEVEL OF EDUCATION. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html However, of all the ECA bodies it appears that only IQAS and CES are disposed to evaluating a bachelor's in law as a professional degree, others do not seem to. Pls read page 1, and the links marked HERE that take you to IRCC web pages, carefully.......CRS for a 30 year old, assuming you have 3 years work experience and maximum points from IELTS with a NON accompanying spouse and a professional degree/masters should be approx 476. Also search NL for more details using key words e.g. law eca iqas etc...interesting story of a lady who almost missed out on Canada because she didn't realise her law degree was worth more than she thought: https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/327#71552587 All the best! 3 Likes |

bemagnify:and you are a lawyer? Abeg no Dey shame us outside na. A lawyer is presumed to know “everything” or “a little of everything” Anyway, on a more serious note, there is nothing to TEF. There are testimonies here of people who didn’t have basic knowledge of French but prepared and passed it. The word impossible itself says l’m possible. 3 Likes |

Good afternoon guys. I have two questions please. I did diploma before gaining admission for my LLB from the same university (unilag) and I have certificates for both. What should be my start date when registering for my credentials evaluation please (IQAS) ? The diploma start date or the LLB start date ? Note: Diploma was in 2011 - 2012 while LLB was from 2012 - 2016. Secondly, what Transcript Transmission method is appropriate? Email or Mail? |

Do not use Wes. However if you’re using WES, evaluate both your llb transcript and law school transcript to gain 2 or more degrees. bemagnify: 1 Like |

Ruthiegal: I have already used WES and my transcript is on the way. I have paid all the processing fees. Should I cancel my subscription and used IQAS? |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Ruthiegal: 6:55pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
Like I said it’s up to you. Wes will evaluate your llb as a a bachelor degree and you’ll be loosing out on points. To gain more points, include your law school education and also send your law school transcript to them. That way, both will be evaluated as 2 or more degrees which gives you more point. In the alternative, evaluate only your LLB degree with IQAS to get points for a professional degree which gives you 7 additional points than even 2 or more degrees with WES if evaluating both llb and law school transcript. All left to you. bemagnify: |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Prettiepearlz(f): 6:58pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
bemagnify:What do you mean by cancel? If you have the funds , I advise you register with IQAS separately and apply for your transcript to be sent to them. Because it takes a longer time for your transcript to be evaluated by IQAS, you can use your WES evaluation to sit in the pool while waiting for your IQAS evaluation that will give you a masters equivalent. For WES, it's advisable to send both the degree and law school qualification so at least you get a two or more certificates option from them. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by bemagnify: 7:13pm On Apr 14, 2021 |
Ruthiegal: Thanks. I think I will send my law school certificate to WES since IQAS takes more time. |

Scholarpoh: IELTS score alone does not determine your CRS score. You need to factor in your level of education, age, work experience (in/outside Canada), whether you are applying as a single or married. Your IELTS score is good. In fact, we scored exactly the same. Simulate your CRS score without your wife writing IELTS or even evaluating her credentials and if you score 468 upwards, well... The last draw for all programs + FSW was 468. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp And your uncle cannot “recommend” you. Spend some time reading from Page 1 1 Like |

bemagnify: In your original post you were willing to spend additional time AND money to obtain an additional qualification to get you 2 or more degrees....or so it seems from your question. Now, you are being advised to also use IQAS even though you may have already paid for WES despite the additional time AND money it will cost. Very similar. I'll just say that 7 CRS points are precious (assuming WES evaluated your LLB and law school as 2 or more degrees), precious enough that many people I know would willingly pay $300 (approx ECA cost) and 4 months (approx ECA timing) to get it. Please re-read this advise posted below, think through carefully and research more before making a final decision. Prettiepearlz: 2 Likes |

Ruthiegal: I think prospective applicants should bite the bullet and start learning French....it's the future! The other new international graduate pathways have a 90k limit. The French pathway has NO limit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2021/04/new-pathway-to-permanent-residency-for-over-90000-essential-temporary-workers-and-international-graduates.html Quarter 1 2021 has had the largest ITAs in IRCC's 7 year history (44k) ......without any FSW, they seem to be looking inwards. They are almost half way to their 2021 target of 108k ITAs for the economic class (FSW, CEC etc). https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/supplementary-immigration-levels-2021-2023.html Faith and Works are partners. Prospective applicants should have faith that FSW will return but work at upping your CRS just in case. 1 Like

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by nymphomaniac(m): 2:49am On Apr 15, 2021 |
Canada invited 266 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on April 14. In order to be invited in this draw, candidates needed a score of 753. This minimum score requirement may seem high compared to the average all-program, or Canadian Experience Class-only draw, but that is because invited candidates needed to have previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). PNP candidates automatically get 600 points just for receiving the provincial nomination. Without the nomination, the lowest-scoring candidate would have 153 points. Candidates who had the minimum score of 753 were only invited if they submitted their Express Entry profile before March 01, 2021 at 15:22:18 UTC, as per the tie-break rule. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) publishes the cut-off time for the tie-break rule as an administrative requirement, regardless of whether there was an actual tie. Scholarpoh: Your wife needs to write. With 6666 your total score will be 465. With 7777 your total score will be 471 With 8777 your total score will be 473 Simulate her IELTS results using the CRS score with her, and let her see that she needs little push to get you your desired score. Just put her through basics of IELTS and she should be fine. No pressure at all. For now, you can create EE profile stating she won't be following you...that's 469 points. If ITA comes show her and let her see she's delaying your dreams, but don't accept while you use it to 'threaten' her to write within the validity period (60 days). Perhaps, a 'friendly threat' will do the trick On a lighter note, FSW is not something one needs to miss when the draw begins. So, make hay while the sun shines. 2 Likes |
