So in one of my previous threads I was talking about one of my aunts buying a currency in a game for her son

https://www.nairaland.com/6487119/

A lot of people who saw that thread thought I was just greedy but in reality I just couldn't believe that she would buy it for him. I knew her too well

So just yesterday, I came back home and my mother called me. She said that her sister (my aunt) had called her on phone and told her that they had debited #3500 from her bank account three times from that same game

She claimed that she had asked her son about it and he denied it, so she was thinking maybe it was me or one of my brothers

Now this isn't possible because I haven't been at her house since I created that thread and I don't know her card details or anything. My siblings couldn't do it because they were busy writing exams

My mind was just telling me it was her son. But I needed proof to confirm it. So later yesterday night, I asked her to ask her son for the password to her son's account in the game. At first the boy didn't want to tell me, saying he forgot, but later he told me

I logged into the account and went to the transactions. Immediately, I saw the truth

Just yesterday morning, the boy had bought $10 worth of Robux (the game currency) three times, making it $30. The game uses an exchange rate of $1 to #350 (which is surprising) making it #10,500 in one day

When I found all of this out, I took a screenshot of all the transactions and sent it to my aunt. I then called her and told her everything. She confirmed that it was the same time on the game records that she saw the debit alerts

The funniest part of all of it was the boy was still denying it, saying he wasn't the one, even though the records show the exact time and amount he bought and spent and which game he spent it on. Even his sister noticed the suspicious activity

I looked further in the records and I saw the boy had bought over #30,000 worth of the game currency, and his mother could only account for spending #1,500. She noticed this one because she didn't have any money in her account at all till yesterday morning

And the boy is only 11. So the question is, if he was your child, what would you do to him?

1. I will beat this crap out of him.
2. I will confiscate all I can that's in his care.
3. I won't trust him any longer and keep a close eye on him.

Tell him it's okay to tell the truth, we need to make our children comfortable enough to tell us the truth. Especially when they have messed up

I play online games a lot but i haven't spent a dime in the in-app-purchase section, unless for my data money....

So if the boy was my son, I'll sit him down, so if he has a reasonable answer I'll spare and warn him but if it's a foolish reason I'll beat the hell outta him

Take the device/laptop/tablet/phone away from him
He needs to prove to his mother that he can be responsible and trustworthy before he can have access again

We tried that but the boy was strongly claiming that he didn't play the game at all yesterday even though all available evidence showed he did. He was even crying on it and lying on my brothers which was very annoying. It couldn't even be my brothers because they would be in school at that time

I don't think there is any reasonable answer. Looking at his records he just bought useless stuff with it. Just short term stuff you can use only once

I saw your initial thread and I just couldn't relate , now it has come to this, stealing to play the game.

This permissive parenting style is not the best.

Its bad enough that his mum pays for those stuffs, now he had added stealing and lying to it. The day theres no cash in that account its your own ATM card or that of anyone around he will use, by then the mother might begin to grasp the ripple effect of this matter that looks so simple but can easily degenerate to a very complex matter.

Give him a semblance that you guys believe him, die this matter, something tells me that something night than this will come up... At the end of the day it's the kind of environment you build for a child that will matter. If the platform for trust and honesty is there, forget 30k, you will be grateful to God for future ills that will be avoided.

Then maybe all this came from peer influence, maybe just buying it to show off to his friends, seize his phone till further notice, let him feel the pain so he will never try such ever again.....

sorry, what game is it

A game called Roblox. I think it came from watching all those American people on YouTube buying and spending it heavily. He did not know that he is in Nigeria

This is what addiction does.
It leads to stealing, lying, and all other related vices.
Your aunt is partly, if not mainly to blame for what her son is becoming.
