I smoke (only Marijuana) for obvious reason(s) known to me.

Firstly, There is a caveat in every pack of cigarettes that smokers are liable to die young, why kill yourself at a young age when there is a possibility of you living far longer?


Secondly, 1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

There are somethings one as a professing christian say or do that the so called sinners and unbelievers will say 'Pastor even you?' as per the way they rate you that you are supposed to be as a christian and I know smoking is one of them.

If the generality of people consider it not to be done by professing christians, then why engage in it?

I cannot be able to point to any part of the scripture that says it is outrightly good or bad to engage in it or to even authoritatively say such a one who engages in it will go to hell or not but I will just go the Apostle Paul's way which he said in 1 Corinthians 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

Final note: It is actually better to stay away from controversial practices and later find out that it wasn't a sin all along than land in hell to discover that it was wrong all along.

I am afraid you are wrong in your conclusion. It is worse to assume a thing a sin, and tell others that it is so, when it is not. That is akin to adding to the commandments of God and there is a curse attached for those who do such and tell others such lies.

Rather than leaving it up in the air, it would be wiser to learn the Truth of God which clearly detail for your learning what sin is and what is not sin. It is by knowing this Truth that you can be set free from slavery to sin by the Truth, the very teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ Himself.

God didn't say it so it is not sin. It is that simple!

If I found a pastor smoking, knowing that God never said smoking is wrong, it would be wrong, in fact , sinful of me to judge the pastor man as having sinned. I do not want be cursed by God so I would not attempt to judge as sin that which God has not declared sin.

From a Biblical standpoint, we are given the admonition to “cleanse ourselves from all filthiness[or defilement] of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” —2Corinthians 7:1
And so that implies that we should not contaminate our bodies with harmful substances such as the above which you mentioned since they are lead cause of dreadful disease which culminates in death and more importantly, that one who smokes or abuses his body becomes unclean and an unclean person will not inherit God’s Kingdom. Ephesians 5:5

There are about 50-something commandments in the New Covenant, Jesus Christ, which make clear for all what sin is in the Kingdom of God. And smoking is not listed as one.

According to Jesus Christ, it is not what you eat that makes you unclean - that which makes you unclean .I.e. sin, comes from what you have stored up in your heart and not from what you eat or ingest.

Sin, which simply means disobedience of God's Law and commandments, is not arbitrarily defined hence the reason why Jesus Christ declares in John 8 that it is by knowing the Truth that one can indeed become set free by the Truth, where the Truth gives clear definition of all that which is indeed sin. .

Anything outside of the 50-something commandments that Jesus Christ has stipulated is not sin as it is left up to individuals(not groups) to decide on their own what they will have or not have in their lives.

one of the reasons i'm smoking marijuana is because of its health function. It actually cured me of a particular diseases since then i've been noticing other health benefits.

The only way to glorify God is to obey His actual commandments to you, just as Jesus Christ taught you to. Anything else is meaningless worship and of no real value as far as God and the Kingdom of God is concerned.

As for bringing more people into God's Kingdom, if you paid close attention to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, you would note that even Jesus Christ did not seek to bring more people into the Kingdom of God simly for the sake of bringing people into the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ turned many away from following Him and for good reason. As a matter of fact, we know that Jesus Christ taught of the Kingdom to thousands of people while He was yet on earth but as of the time of His death. there were only a few dozen who believed in Him.

The preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God is not about quantity - the number of souls you bring in to sit in your church pews and all that - it is instead, as Jesus Christ showed us, about quality and this can only be realized by allowing the Spirit of God lead you to only those whom He will , when and where He will.
