Xbee007: He did not ask for them to support the war by using the drones and ISR in Niger, Cameroon and other countries in Africa but asking for the relocation of the HQ to Nigeria? . I'm just tired. I know he didn't mention Nigeria specifically but that is what is implied. 2 Likes |

cutievik:Evidence shows the equipment part of the offensive was probably not planned well. As far as I'm concerned the military is bereft of ideas after it punches at these thugs. How do we take them down totally (truly we can't militarily only) and get them to at least negotiate. This is one reason I'm highly disappointed at the NSA. Dasuki seemed to have more plans than this one. Lastly, God knows what happens at our security council meetings. It seems Buhari just treats them to a NATGEOWild documentary and they pose for pictures afterwards 4 Likes |

Odunayaw: Men whose lives are at risk and are somewhat in position to change things. For example, the Lt.Col that died recently. He was responsible for the defense of the town. He neglected a lot and ended up paying with his life. Just imagine that most of the present chiefs served in the north east. They can't tell anyone they do not know the problems. Why haven't they found solutions? I believe the silence of DSS is also intentional. 5 Likes |

I'm not one of those that just throw big words to massage our ego that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, a giant that can't influence what happens in neighbouring countries. That being said, if Buhari is begging AFRICOM to move it's HQ to Nigeria I don't see anything bad it in, we stand alot to gain ranging from military infrastructures including hardwares/softwares, shared intelligence, training, joint ops etc the advantages supercedes the disadvantages, but the reality is that the US don't give a toss about Nigeria and Africa in general. What we see as a kind of interventions in some countries including our neighbors by the US is strictly a proxy game with China, the US are worried about the growing influence of the Chinese in the continent. It will be far easier to get the Chinese military to offer support than the US, why we're not even exploring that option is what I don't still understand. If I'm at the helms of affairs I'll seek for all the help I can get, I won't mind inviting the Chinese to come establish a world class military drone base fully funded by them in the northeast similar to what the US built in Djibouti from where they can jointly operate 24/7 with our security agencies, while also building a defence industry. As for the DSS their problem lies in the ACT that established them as a department of the presidency, they were created I think by IBB solely primarily for regime protection that's why they're more interested in who insults the president or members of the ruling class than state protection, again this is one of the reasons we have to bin the 1999 constitution and come up with a workable document. 6 Likes |

Closer military ties with China would serve Nigeria better than the old tired, unproductive dalliance with US that we, in any case, nowadays do out of fear. Nigeria mustn’t trust any of the Western nations; there’ll be no improvements just a steady even accelerated disintegration. We are hamstrung now as it is because of the West and their weponised liberal impositions. 6 Likes |

ugo4u:The Chinese military are more interested in power projection than Terrorism control. As for China controlling Nigeria, they're still a long way to go. The US still controls most of our fossil fuel industry. Why do you say the US doesn't give a damn about Nigeria? You know they our biggest economic partner right? Which other country gives foreign aid as much as the US to Nigeria? |

Faithful007: I don’t mean they, China, will have boots on the ground, I mean for Nigeria to engage with them in all other respects, such as our officers and generals visiting China and inviting theirs to Nigeria; Back China in the UN and political support in the international arena; entering military pacts; working with them on defence planning and setting up systems in Nigeria that America dislikes. Whatever America dislikes Nigeria acquiring is that which is good for Nigeria to have in place. We may need to do all the initiating but Nigeria should abandon her none aligned polices. Nigeria is too insistent on playing the third world pickaninny . We are way too big for khaki shorts. You refuse to grow up, little boys go dey chook you finger for forehead. 1 Like |

Suspected members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) have stolen about two mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles from the Nigerian Army, TheCable understands. Amaq, a propaganda news agency used by the insurgents, in a Monday bulletin showed the tactical vehicles stolen from the troops. Military sources who spoke with TheCable over the matter said the incident occurred around Mainok, when the tactical vehicles were being escorted to Maiduguri, Borno state capital. TheCable had reported how Mainok came under attack on Sunday. The troops escorting the MRAPs were said to have stopped by at the military base, following the attack. One of the army commanders in the area was said to have received a call that some friendly forces were closer to the military camp. “Unknown to the troops, the said friendly forces were the ISWAP insurgents,” one of the sources said. “In fact, they had come with about four other MRAPs. They got into the base, and while a larger part of the soldiers were relaxed, they opened fire on them, and moved out the two MRAPs being taken to Maiduguri. “It is difficult to figure how communication got compromised that the commander got the wrong signal.” Another source said “the MRAPs they came in with to attack were stolen weeks ago in Buratai, when the insurgents attacked. They also now have this APC they rebuilt with caterpillar parts”. When contacted, Mohammed Yerima, army spokesperson, denied that the troops lost tactical vehicles to the insurgents. Earlier, the army said it lost an officer and six soldiers in the attack on Mainok. The army had also said it engaged the insurgents in a gun fight and that many of them were killed. https://www.thecable.ng/how-iswap-disguised-as-friendly-forces-to-steal-tactical-vehicles-from-army-base-in-borno |

If USA stops funding in Borno state thousands will die from hunger. IDPs do not have the luxury of farming. If you move To farm 3KM out of our barricaded town your head might end up on a spike. Even the military barely allows it cos some IDPs use such opportunity to make contact with their BH Husband or Father and some run back to BH self 1 Like |

SamuelAnyawu: 400Million Dollars on humanitarian issues in Borno state - a cynic might retort, 'no wonder there’s no end of problem in Borno!'. In my early teens, I recall adult Nigerians arguing that reliance on Aid was impoverishing East Africa by creating reliance and personal gains at the top echelons from Aid money. Thought Nigerians had more sense and dignity than to play that old Aid game. |
