This is not to say I’d accept winning the UEL as a successful season. It’s taken him 3 years, close to £400m spent but it’s something to build on.

Tuchel took over Chelsea 4 months ago and he’s yet to spend a dime on Chelsea and he’s improved them massively - making them the most difficult team to beat in the PL. He hasn’t said anything about DNA or what not like the PE teacher. He just faced the task at hand and rolled his sleeves.

I am on the decking. I actually built the fence but left it when it became too crowded. I have always maintained that sacking Amaka was not the problem, rather the main challenge is getting a competent replacement.

I didn’t trust Poch but was open about my appreciation of Tuchel and Nagelsmann’s abilities.
By keeping on to Amaka for too long we are repeating the mistake of 2012-2014 when we lost out on Pep and Klopp.

The root of the problem is that fans and ownership see things differently. Fans look at Amaka and think “There is no way we will win major titles with this guy in charge”. Owners look at Amaka and think “There is no way we won’t make top 4 with this guy in charge”.
