I'm in a very serious dilemma here. I am right in my bank (Sterling Bank) with a customer service rep to get mybankstatement for my study permit application. First, they told me that they don't issue bank statements using MBS. After a heated argument with them and several calls to their other branches, they accepted to do it.

They told me that they can only send a copy MBS to the receiving embassy, without me, the account holder having any access to it. Please, I want to know if anyone banking with Sterling Bank has experienced that kind of thing while requesting his MBS from the bank. And if that's what obtains with the bank, how then will I upload my POF on my GCkey account in the space provided for Proof of means of financial support?

Your urgent response would be highly appreciated.

I had the same issue. A branch gave me the ticket no and password without the MBS certificate itself
After so many back and forth, I decided to try their head branch in Marina...there I was well attended to and I got the MBS certificate

From my little knowledge, you have to show consistency and progression. Either academic progression or work progression. And you have to explain the switch very well in your SOP.

Kindly note that I am an applicant too, and o don't know much. But this is my opinion.

You're partly correct, but the most important factor is the person reviewing your application. If you like write the most compelling SOP ever, if the VO is the strict type or in a bad mood, he'll find an excuse to refuse your permit.

EXACTLY...When i see VO denials like Purpose of visit, i doubt the vo knows anything about the intended course

I have seen a person denied based on finance cos his sponsor(senior brother) is married.. Am like, he should stay single all his life for you!!

That's quite insightful. I seem to have some monies leaving and entering my sponsor's account (from 8m to 11m, then to 3m, 5m, and then finally grew to 8.3m). The 5m stayed in the account for about two months untouched, before it finally grew to 8.3m, which my sponsor explained in his Letter of Sponsorship. What do you think about this kind of transaction history, and is there any way I can better explain it.

It goes beyond explanation, whatever explanation your sponsor is giving must be backed up by a concrete evidence, if the transaction in the account is healthy and there's no sudden funds unexplained, you have nothing to worry about, what they are always particular about is the availability of this funds to you the applicant, and will your sponsor have enough funds or has an healthy financial stability to fend for himself, his needs and other personal expenses when you are in Canada, those are usually the questions to be answered the issue of POF is very dicey and should be done with perfect understanding and caution. In the end what works for A night not work for B, having a perfect application is understanding your situation and how you can make that situation to your own advantage for a possibility of approval

It is possible to get denied on grounds of finance. In fact, in my first application i did not state that my sponsor (brother) is single but in my second application, i stated that he is single and has no dependents.

The bolded should not be an issue if the applicant included a sponsorship letter signed by the brother knowing full well of the implications.
