If I were in your shoes I would have another look at the installation. What is the size of the pipe going into the washing machine? The pipe should be 3/4 inches. This increases pressure at the last mile. Check to ensure this has not been modified to suit the Nigerian way of plumbing. A bigger pipe dimension will reduce pressure.

Another option is to run direct a dedicated pipe straight from the water tower with the right pipe dimension. The electricians do same for things like cooker or a/c.

I will not rush to booster option just yet as the home water pressure is ok. I would explore the installation option first before bringing out the bazooka.

Okay, i understand your point.

The hose you have in the image is what was packaged with the washing machine, ( 2 piece at about 2 meters or so ).

You could be right with regards to running a straight line with that hose or pipe size. What is fixed to the tank is the regular pipe size and it goes a few meters away from the tank before it’s connected to smaller pipes.

Tbh, i havent had any need for high pressure water supply within the house so i havent bothered about these things.

Your Point is Noted Sir... Different stuff for different folks. Although I wouldn't recommend a wallpaper in the kitchen for my clients, i would prefer to explore better Options.

Please Note: The Kitchen usually has high Temperature due to the heated activities, Where Steam and Moisture do set in, & that's not good for a wallpaper.

Moisture or Steam could ruin your Wallpaper!!!

That's That .... cool

Oga Mi, what's My Percentage if I can get a buyer for your Omi Adio/Ibadan lands ?

We’ve met in the middle.

Your preferences is NOT to use wallpapers in the kitchen. NOT that it’s not possible.

I actually only sell my lands directly without agents but I appreciate good faith referrals.

Hello Chief,

I am interested in your conversation about water pressure and booster pumps as i am facing a related low-water pressure issue.

Recently i bought a fully automatic Hisense washing machine to be used at my place. After the installation at home ( to the water inlets) , we powered the machine and water wasnt going in. ( But the machine works pretty well if filled with water manually by pouring water into it).

The machine was returned to the dealership who also sent it to the service center for diagnosis and repairs, but later the machine was returned with an “OK” service status.

After several tests at my place we discovered that the water pressure from my tanks was too low to open the selenoid inlet valves which was amazing because the tanks are about 5 feet above the ground and are huge GP Tanks.

I had to test the machine again by connecting it directly to the 1.5HP submersive pump supplying water to the tanks, then the machine inlet valves were properly opened under that amount of pressure.

Right now i’m setting for installing water booster pump specifically for just the washing machine ( the house water supply works pretty fine and i dont want to go through the headache of raising the tanks higher, which i dont even think would be a sufficient fix )

Do have recommendations on where i can get the water booster pumps from either within Lagos or if it’s waybill-able and do you know of any plumber who can install it in such a way that it works perfectly with the washing machine with no alteration to the washing machine ( washing machine is still under 1 year warranty )?

Also considering that the washing machine only expects to take in water on few occasions during the operation cycle.

If you were in my shoes how would you DIY this?

Cc: n3xt

Your house plumbing needs to be specifically designed with pressure in mind.

If you didn’t do that then just use a booster pump at the washing machine outlet.

Illustrious plumbing sons of the thread over to you.

PS: my washing machine gets enough pressure from my overhead thanks but I have to on the gen because I only get 80-110volts from NEPA.

Use eba/garri/fufu/akpu to fix your wallpaper.

But on the flipside sha, that's just an excuse... I'd do it in my kitchen and nothing will happen to the wallpaper. Do kitchen cabinets like moisture or steam? NO! Yet we use plywoods (hdf and mdfs) and NOT steel or concrete to make our cabinets without worries.

Before we start all these tiles, cabinet craze, we used to have wallpaper inside our cabinets to make it nice and nothing dey do am except that cockroach love eating those paper.

I'd use wallpaper creatively in my kitchen.

I don’t subscribe to the idea of Nigeria being unique. My current kitchen is open to the dining and living and no issues. Wallpaper works in kitchens. Not the cheapest Chinese junk but good quality ones.

I don’t like wallpapers, I don’t use them so you won’t see the in my house but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to use.

It's not that I'm responding in order to argue. It's very likely that's its possible. But to be safe just like others have suggested let the wallpapers be in the areas where the cooking unit and kitchen sink are not located.

Except maybe someone is using all round electric cooker for cooking.

I disagree.

Life’s too short.

If I want to use wallpaper in my kitchen like millions online are doing all over the world then I won’t be constrained by local limited knowledge.

The following are combinations (at the right ratio);
a. Stone dust + sharp sand
b. Stone dust + sharp sand + 1/2” granite
c. sharp sand + 1/2” granite
d. sharp sand alone
all with cement.

It’s advisable you use stone dust (for the fine finish y’know you’d still get good results without it) but do NOT use it without sharp sand.

I think you should elaborate on the quality of sharp sand used only for molding interlocks.

Apart from the others you've mentioned which are known to me. One can also used sharp sand and 3/8 coarse. Those in PHC who are familiar with it's usage understand. You only need to tell the person supplying the coarse sand the usage purpose to enable him bring the best quality.

The picture attached is the connector for the hose. The hose should screw into the connector and the connector to the home plumbing network. This is a very important component of washing machines especially non traditional washing machines like Hisense. You may not have this problem with LG for example or Samsung for that matter.

Call a good plumber and run him/her through the direct connection option and look for the connector. Since you are in Lagos, this should not be difficult. This could be the solution because with booster, you must be certain your pipe network quality can take the added pressure from the booster so you don't create a larger problem like burst pipes from the pressure. Not all plumbing connection can withstand booster.

Ok sir. The quality of the constituents too matter though. I've not seen many good sharp sand around... not even the ones filled with mud/dirt that are sold in Ajah and Ikorodu.

______
Quarry dust can be utilized in concrete mixtures as a good substitute for natural river sand giving higher strength at 50% replacement (Balamurgan et al., 2013).
______
The compressive strength of concrete from stone powder showed 14.76% higher value than that of the concrete made of normal sand (Mahzuz et al., 2011). https://www.researchgate.net/publication/320213222_Parametric_Study_on_Quarry_Dust_and_Bacteria_in_Cement_Mortar_for_Next_Generation_A_Review
