Why Do Some Nigerians Think Being A Male Nursing Student Is An Abomination???!!! by JBRichard(m): 4:45am On May 17, 2021
I am a student studying nursing in Nigeria. I got a lot of recommendations and commendations when I settled down for this course. I was bred up to be a Medicine and Surgery student. I was advised to choose this because it's professional and not lengthier and can end up with a good job abroad or even here by God's grace. Plus as it stands now, I don't want to waste so much time in school in order to settle down and get a good job and do something for myself.

But when people hear of my course the somehow fumble. I get belittled. I am a guy.... Is there something wrong with studying this or should I change??
I wanted to study Biochem but I was chastised against it

Because I'm starting to wonder why I don't see male nurses..... I met one man and he eyed me from top to bottom. Another individual said I don't know what I want to become.
Another shouted ABOMINATION!!!!! grin
I've already gained admission oooo....
I'm bewildered....
Haven't seen male nurses in Naija before....

It's a nice and lucrative course, ur tommoro is bright. Don't be discouraged by anything or what pple say about the course.
There are lots of male nurses out there that are doing wonderfully well, so it's not an abomination for a male to be a nurse.
Those with negative thoughts on the course, ask them what they study, don't mind them, they want u to be like them.

You bleeped up big time, you just need strangers to console you and give you false hopes LMAO, nursing is the worst a guy can study in Nigeria. No matter how sophisticated and knowledgeable you are, even the least Professional doctor will tremble on you! You can't open a hospital as a nurse, you can't command respect, you'll be paid chicken change when the doctor you worked with in a theater gets millions, you bleeped up. Nigeria isn't USA where nurses get special privileges even if they're still greatly underpaid, guy better retake jamb or do change of department. Anybody who advices you otherwise is just inexperienced, I've witnessed first hand how a very intelligent male nurse has been cheated all his life. Guy use your head, Nigerian no be USA, even school fees you no go fit pay for your children, just watch!!

Are you gay? You are on same category with male hairstylists, knew at least 6 of them back then...they all flirt around with numerous girls, they see themselves as hot dudes cos mostly the stupid girls preferred to pay for their service with their holes.

I walked in to a barbing salon roughly 5years back, I met two ladies who are professional barbers...

Story for another day.

Just that nursing is a female dominated job role.

Only Nigerians that are ignorant and not well informed think like this.

When I was a kid though I always laughed at Male Nurses I always thought they were SIMPs.

The first time I heard men could be nurses I couldn't wrap my head around it.

I grew and knew better, Male nurses are the best , even more empathetic and caring than their female colleagues.

God bless every Nurse out there be it Male or Female.
God bless the Medical profession.
God bless Nigeria
