Fooolishbuharri: I believe those brands are manageable because they are the costly Toyotas. However, peace of mind surpass everything o baba. But if you so much care about interior beauty, then go buy the so called German machines especially if you got doe to burn off for maintenance. If not stick with the Japs. |

I've been driving a Sonata Hybrid 2011, yes Hyundai which I shipped in since 2019. It's one of the most elegant cars on Lagos roads, no jokes, not even that I own it. Last month I took its first trip out of Lagos to Ilesha and everything was smooth. While I won't bother going into it's fuel efficiency, since it's expected, I'd like to comment on the performance. The car dey move, and the comfort is out of this world - soft braking, soft steering, and rapid response handling. For a brief comparison, the Camry 2010 v4 (muscle) produces a power of 169hp, while a Sonata hybrid 2011 does 206hp - the difference is clear. A v4 venza does less! The point I'm trying to make is - 90% of the Nigerian street verdict on all cars are lori iro. When you want to buy a car you like, get more data, do thorough research and get first-hand opinions about the car. Some will be awful, some will be encouraging, know that just because one Mr. T rough-handled his car and it gave him problems doesn't mean the car is bad. All things being equal, the longevity of every car boils down to maintenance. I used a Honda Accord for 4 years took 3 trips to Abuja from Lagos with it, the legs did not pull but just 6 months after I sold it, everything stewed for the new owner. Hybrids are awesome. Some of them are cheetahs for their range of cars. I rest my case 4 Likes |

FrankLampard: Toyota's older hybrids, Toyota claimed should last 10 years........ With newer hybrids, Toyota swears they should last 20 years (according to my Toyota dealer)....... I would still never buy a Toyota hybrid, without a bumper 2 bumper warranty......... Your friend bought a 2010, so the battery is almost on it's last legs........ Tell your friend to have an emergency fund readily available (when/if those hybrid batteries start to dance shoki)...... Be a good friend....... |

Re: I Am Crying Right Now :-[ by FrankLampard: 7:54am On May 25, 2021 |
Lexusgs430: What do you make of that, don't you think you get to save more on fuel since our roads is full of traffic |
Re: I Am Crying Right Now :-[ by FrankLampard: 7:56am On May 25, 2021 |
kingreign: I don't know where you get that from. My car is 2011 while the other is 2010. Common sense will educate you on the one that will be more expensive. All these NL boys sha |
Re: I Am Crying Right Now :-[ by Lexusgs430: 8:21am On May 25, 2021 |
FrankLampard: No..... I said minimal traffic....... The hybrid system gets charged by two methods.... 1 - Rolling tyres 2 - Petrol engine If you are stuck in Lagos type of traffic, your tyres and not rolling, meaning your hybrid battery is strictly relying on the petrol engine, to charge the battery.... The battery gets charged by the engine, the traffic sucks the juice....... So your petrol engine keeps kicking in, to top up... Hope I have not confused you...... |

If not that I'm too lazy to type, I would've shared with you a first hand experience,of a previous hybrid owner of that same model with you. In my opinion, the only Toyota hybrid worth buying are the priuses of that generation, the camrys and Highlanders tend to break up really bad after about 10years, after it got out of factory. You're very lucky for choosing a non-hybrid version, you have saved your self from crying premium tears when the wahala starts. Parts for parts, hybrid type is more expensive, for instance the ABS of the non-hybrid is less than 50k, while that of the hybrid is over 200k and very scarce to get a non-defective one. The normal DC battery of the non- hybrid is just about 30k, while that of the hybrid version is 150k. Let me also add that the hybrid battery pack cost about 600k to replace, unless you only want to replace some few defective cells and not the entire battery pack. I can go on and on, but I'm lazy to type. In Lagos, there are less than 10mechanics who can help you get your hybrid car running, only a few specialist and they charge just like neurosurgeons. In the end, most people convert it back to non-hybrid when the wahala became too much. Please, just know that you actually bought the better car in terms of less maintenance stress and ease of finding a good technician plus spare parts. 2 Likes |

FrankLampard:Year model is not always an indication of price tag especially when it comes to bidding from most salvage auction sites. Learn that boy. You sound pained obviously But the bolded, the last time I checked I was left adolescence over 15 years ago, I pay my bills, I'm raising my family and I'm not under my parents roof. I so that quote is just confirmation that you lack maturity, you are egotistical and are greedy and full of self. Go work on yourself. |

kingreign: LOL, if you don't have any good thing to contribute why not just move on, why are we like this as Nigerians. Nawa oh. For the records, I didn't get my car as a Salvage car, it came fully clean (Non-Accidented). Finally, go do some assignment, go and check the price of 2011 XLE and 2010 Hybrid. |

FrankLampard: I have driven 4 hybrid vehicles in the past, and still own another hybrid vehicle (making 5 hybrid driving real life experiences)...... If you are always driving on motorways, you might as well buy a conventional engine. Hybrids, would not really reduce your fuel bill....... A mixture of both, hybrid makes sense.... It saves you on fuel bill (agreed), but the truth be told!!!! If one does not have competent hands at pocket friendly prices..... It would become an expensive adventure....... |
