I agree we should go back to 1963 constitution because it's the only legitimate constitution since independence and the only constitution we made that brought prosperity to the regions. Other constitution pre-independence brought prosperity but were done by Britain LegendHero: |

Aketi is a man with class, educationally sound. When you listen to his speech you grow in knowledge. Man summarised Nigeria problem with few words while offering practical solution. Education and character wise ,he's obviously above his peers. No apologies. 3 Likes |

1. True Federalism 2. Scrap 1999 constitution. 3. Remove age restriction on some certain job. 4. Political Office holder's salary be Government workers based. (Twice- if workers' salary increases, so theirs) 5. Provision for State police. 6. Court proceedings for ANY case shouldn't span more than a year. 7. Whoever killed intentionally, Should be immediately killed publicly haven't been found guilty. 8. All prisoners in our correctional center should be made to farm ON GOVERNMENT FARMS IN EVERY STATE while serving their term 9. Corruption. Stealing public funds should made a serious crime which will make the perpetrators lose more than what he/she stolen, then BAN FOR LIFE from having anything to do with public offices 10. Ban on open grazing.. This concern me a lot 4 Likes |

We play too much in this country. How is going back to a 1963 constitution the best for Nigeria in the 21st century? Going back to that constitution may address basic national issues and policies, but would never address the present realities of a country in 2021 that wants to develop and compete with the rest of the world. A lot of social archaicness that needs to be abolished or upgraded is still in that 1963 constitution. If going back to the 1963 constitution is the best we can think of, then we are nothing but jokers. 3 Likes 1 Share |

EmmyDJourno:Charity begins at home, too much power in the state capitals, let them first decentralize the States & give the power to the Local Governments that is where the people are, not the State Capital. All these rhetoric restructuring is just playing to the gallery. Why do we have State Representatives in the States House of Assembly, & Federal Representatives in Abuja? Nonsense. Absolute Nonsense. |

buckeyemedia:What sort of argument is this? His people voted him in as their governor, the constitution did not vote. The people will leverage whatever legal framework is currently available to pick their leader. They have done so in Akeredolu and others. How does that stop or disqualify him from addressing problems within the system that apparently stemmed from the current constitution? 2 Likes |

True all you said however that is just one way of looking at things. Another way is to critically analyse the failures of the first republic. The fact is most politicians are weak men often driven solely by their unquenchable thirst for more power. Just imagine what the Western region could have become if Awo had simply focused on it alone as opposed to running for the centre. If we readopt the 63 constitution, it will still be same of same for the most part. Northern elements will still have sway over parliament and the opposition will be willing to dine with the devil if it means getting power. I say we take away the centre permanently and let us all within our own various enclaves find a way to build a sustainable future country that we can truly call our own. LegendHero: 4 Likes |

I am an Igbo man but I can beat my chest that this Yoruba Governor called Akeredolu for some time now has won my heart and he is my best governor in Nigeria A man that irrespective of party affiliation and personal/selfish interest like other governors and evil politician can speak out, courageous enough and stood his ground. It's very difficult to get such politician in this present day Nigeria that most of these politicians cannot speak out because of personal interest. It's very unfortunate that even the Yorubas that suppose to see and take this man as their leader will be rallying around the selfish corrupt politician called Tinubu 1 Like |

adedehinbo: Things were not better. More people were poor, we did not have the infrastructure we have now, many of the highways we have today were non-existent or dirt tracks, and there was no Niger bridge Plus, today, we no longer produce the things we produced in 1963. And even if we did, our populaiton has quadrupuled since then. So, what we produce won't be enough for us Most villages and towns did not even have power at all Plus, everyone wants states, not regions. People even want far more states Things were not better under regions. It is a myth you people tell yourselves. Nigeria can only develop by becoming industrial, not by relying on oil or anything else. |

Zane2point4: Has sharia been imposed on your state? The only places where Sharia have been imposed have been Muslim majority states. (And yes, I am opposed to sharia...especially as wee are a secular nation. ) Also, more people want states, not regions Finally, if you want development, support leaders who will get us industrialised, not return to regions./ We don't even produce enough to satisfy one region self. |
