Good morning everyone. I have tried to go through the tremendous work on this tread. Though I didn't read the entire 3600+ pages but I did some random reading at intervals.

Thanks to everyone that have given resourceful information about this business.

I'm about to start the business with a Toyota Camry 06, Tokunbo and to drive myself weekends most likely. The vehicle isn't ready yet though.

I'd also like to know how I can go about registering as a driver first before the vehicle arrives.

Thanks

Bros sorry to pokenoise oh but are you aware that the area you reside has the highest numbers of drivers and car owners on uber in Lagos State?

Some guys DM me late last year insearch for a car on rental and i gave them advice on how to go abt it since I was not having any at my disposal at the time, few days after two(2) among them came back with thanks rejoicing, one got a Camry (muscle) the other a corolla.

Permit me to share one of the main hint I gave them, you know I really don't like giving people advice anymore because I found out I'm only wasting my time spending time talking/advising adults who end ls up doing what they like and i ask, why then did you cime to me for advice in the first place? But for the sake of you and many who have been contacting me both on WhatsApp and email I'll do this one last time.

Identify potential men, guys into the job in your area/neighbourhood, walk up to them and tell them what you want then see how things go.

Do search on Twitter, facebook, WhatsApp group and talk to people in your church/mosque, you can even talk to your clergymen. Most times they get good contact that always end well. A close friend got N1.5m trx to his account from his father's sister in Catholic church, the woman lives in ph she didn't see this guy one day till he finished paying his hp.

There's nothing greater than referral, if somebody of great value refers you for a job be rest assured, power of referral through divine favour and connection. The woman still bought another car and asked this my friend to get her a driver (trust has be established).

You may have tried one or two of these methods and it asn't produced good result but keep pressing and keep working on your integrity a time and opportunity will come soon.

By the way, where is coker007? Does any has his contact or have heard from him its been ages he posted here after getting a car on rental I hope he's great where ever he is.

I really appreciate the time you took to make those explanations and tips you gave. They really touched my heart and gave me hope. I have actually tried some of those tips and nothing is forthcoming, but like you said, i will keep trying expecially on the aspect of referrals and hopefully soon, something good will come out. Thank you very much once again. smiley smiley smiley

So this morning, I took a trip all the way to awoyaya (it’s a very low demand area), it was a destination trip. I needed to see a client around that side and luckily I got a trip to the exact area, that’s not the reason for sharing this though.

On my return I decided to on my app, just maybe I could get lucky with a request towards Ajah. Few minutes later, Voila! An order came in ( heading to Lakowe golf road). What’s shocking was this order was on a surge multiplier ( for this kind area?) my eyes popped shocked

Looking in closely I discovered it’s not the usual type of surge. It was labeled ‘Route compensation’. It’s the first time I’m seeing such kind of surge.

I already have a random idea of what that kind of surge could be all about, but it will nice to hear the takes of senior comrades on this

Just as the surge label indicates, "Route compensation" it means that such destination is likely to be rejected by majority of the driver or has already being rejected, due to distance and probability of getting a trip from such area back to civilization, so it factored in the pricing that you might require driving empty back to a fairly demand area or to high demand area.

Sometimes here, someone said route compensation is used to compensate drivers when the PU is kinda far; usually most times when even PU distance could be farther than destination and the trip might have even be probably rejected by most drivers.

I'm not too sure if I got it right.

Na so one night on my way blowing empty to the house and still online just incase. I got a trip back to the same place I had left on a 1.8 route compensation. I didn't think twice before I accepted it. Surge dey motivate I swear grin

The guy was going to pick a lady and back to his house. That was how I ended the day with an extra N2200.

Soft work cheesy

Keep the hope alive bro, things will definitely get better.

Also. Try talk to a few relative you think can raise you 600k-750/800k You can get a naija used car and pay them back within a yr...

Keep posting your ads, include a snap copy of your DL if you don't mind so potential partner can be guaranteed you're a satisfied driver.

Good luck men.

This car is a good car from stories I have heard from people who have used it. The pros are, very good fuel economy (corolla dey learn for where kia rio dey), not a thief magnet, Some cheap parts. Cons are cost of engine replacement, from my findings, I think there are two specs of this car; Dana motors spec i.e the one bought brand new in Nigeria and the American spec. The Dana spec engine is very expensive so I heard but the American spec engine is at par with the corolla engine price. Another con is the AC unit, This car uses a variable displacement compressor (aka automatic compressor), if it gets bad, you'll need service of a seasoned technician to fix it otherwise you might have serious issues resulting from wrong diagnosis or replacment. I love the fact that the car is manual, if not for heavy traffic in Lagos that makes manual cars more stressful to drive in Lagos, manual cars would have been the best for transportation. Last week, my car started shaking vigorously if I want to take off from rest. I already had an idea of what the issue might be, got to my mechanic and we discovered that the release bearing had broken which had affected the plate. I got another disc & plate for 7k and release bearing for 1k. I paid mechanic 5k for labour since he had to bring the gearbox down for the replacement. Also replaced the gear oil with 2k, Job was done and vehicle moved from rest like new again, my gear and clutch became very soft and gear selection was very smooth. If it was automatic drive, I might have spent up to 50k or more for this kind of issue. Pls ensure the engine is still very good and start saving up for the AC incasr anything goes wrong in the future with it.
Thank you very much I did not make it yesterday due to rain I went there today to pick the car not what they post I saw we agree on 600k but if they sell at 100k I can't buy it so rongh and bad

Why are you still flogging this? The deal is dead on arrival. I thought you said you had cars on the platform.

how can someone work for 35 hours and still deliver over 65% of standard rates. Pure mismatch. You should know better.

App goes off 12 midnight. Curfew still in force.

This is another angle. But on a second think of it, I’ve had pick ups that are more than 20mins from where I was yet it was not compensated in any way taking those trips
