earthrealm: olopan: I have chatted with that Jos guy and his 5kwh, 48v 100ah is 500k which is 2m for 20KWh with 2 Years Warranty and he said he is reviewing the price upward very soon. That's about same price for the BSLBATT 20KWh ($3800) with 5 Years warranty. So I am not seeing the cost saving benefit yet, unless I'm missing something. The thing is confusing me more. Please is anyone aware if Felicity 100a mppt SCC has the float bug? I'm trying to upgrade my solar panels to 340w*8 for 24v setup and I'm looking for an affordable reliable SCC 100a. I was using fangpusun 100v 50a and it has been fantastic but won't accommodate the additional panels. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 11:05am On Jun 07, 2021 |
Namzy:why not acquire another fangupsun 50A. that CC is great. split the panel 2s2p each.(4pcs each) u can use 2pcs of it on the same battery bank effortlessly. i doubt if felicity can perform like it. |

Sorry, newbie question here. I am still researching and learning. So lets say I have a battery bank of 20KWh and lets say they are already fully charged by 1pm. The remaining energy being generated by the pv, can those be used directly in the house to power stuff like AC and co? If yes, which part of the system does that, is it the inverter? If all that is possible at what point does the energy stored in battery kick in and is it automatic? Like will the inverter detect the the direct energy from panel is no longer enough and auto switch to battery? Sorry I know this are baby questions, just trying to get a full grip on the workings. |

Guys, I will like to know if some of the veterans here and those who have had running systems with Lithium battery up for a while, have actually done cost analysis of your system in relation to cost of grid? Like Ikejaelectricity tarrif I believe is about N30 per KWh or there about. Is it possible to both generate and store power from solar at such low rate? Or is the advantage only in the constant electricity derived? I did some rough calculations for an off-grid system and it appears even in 10 Years I might not break even compared to paying PHCN. |

Valto:I would have done this but I had to crack a wall to pass the wire of the original solar and land lord don warn me not to repeat such as I leave in a flat |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 2:26pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
Namzy:u can still change the wires at that crack point.. replace it with a 4core 8mm or 6mm flex wire and run your 2 fangupsun CC 2 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 2:42pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
toluxa1:ikeja electricity tariff is around 50naira per kwh. secondly, at the bolded. that is a huge advantage bro. Quite few people will be using solar, if ikedc can guarantee 24/7 electricity without a blink whatsoever for atleast 5years. The advantage of having 24/7 electricity via solar setup, far outweighs whatever cheap tariff coupled with epileptic power supply ikedc might be dishing out to customers 2 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by toluxa1(m): 3:30pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
Valto: Thanks for the clarification of the bolded. AEDC (Abuja) it is N49.75 per KWh but i got that information from here so I was surprised too. This is close to the global average price of about N57-N59/KWh. https://www.ikejaelectric.com/energy-consumption-domestic-appliances/

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valto(m): 3:37pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
sethtsadopp: after battery full, the energy from pv will power house load, so far your house load is not bigger that the available generated energy from pv If yes, which part of the system does that, is it the inverter? since the battery is already full, the inverter takes energy from panels to power house loads. If all that is possible at what point does the energy stored in battery kick in and is it automatic the energy stored in the battery kicks in automatically to supplement pv power, the moment your house loads becomes bigger than what your pv can produce at the moment. the inverter detect the the direct energy from panel is no longer enough and auto switch to battery if the energy from panel is insufficient, it will draw some energy from battery to supplement and power house loads. it doesn't auto switch to battery only, if there still some energy from pv coming in. 1 Like |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m): 4:19pm On Jun 07, 2021 |
Valto:Lol unfortunately it's been cemented and painted and because the panels are on another roof about 35 meters away I used 16mm2 wire for the connection. |
