Lol... He even called them a 'branch' of anioma. Olukumis were a small number of Yoruba migrants into Delta Igbo heartland with a now extinct culture. They've since assimilated to Igbo identity the way op would done if given the chance.
Who told you our culture is extinct?
We don't share any culture with igbos.

I don't know the stupid blog where you got your gutter narratives.
Akure warriors called Igbos Olukumi? cheesy.. This blog writer must be a mad man.
Why would Yoruba call Igbo Olukumi?. Was that the first time Yoruba people encountered igbos in history?.
There was never a time where a Yoruba group called Igbos Olukumi. Yoruboid in Delta are called Olukumi.
There was no where in our history where Oba of Benin sent Akure warriors to go after igbos fleeing Benin. Stop following stupid blogs for the sake of your sanity.

Who are you? Yoruba Muslim like you! Do you Know the road to Odiani?
Odiani people are telling you their real story and you are here talking nonsense.

No coercion here
If the people say they are Yoruboid
They are and will be accepted

They are not Yoruboid.
Look elsewhere!
Odiani are bonafide Enuani people who accommodated Yoruba warriors and acculturated them into Igbo culture.

I believe they're more igala than Yoruba because they share no boundaries with the Yorubas but they share boundaries with Igala.
Their language is much similar to the igala than Yoruba.
I have been to ugbodu, I think they should join Igala than claiming Yoruba.

Lol!

Anyone that does not agree with your igbotic view is Yoruba Muslim.
It's only Igbo in 5 south east states that are shocked that Yoruboid group could be found in the heartland of Anioma.

Ugbodu is not Yoruba.
Move on.
At best they can be said to be a member of the "defoid" ie the common language tree the proto Igala and Proto Yoruba people emerged from.
Either way, they met aboriginal Igbos on ground who acculturated and assimilated them.
Out of the 6 Odiani communities, 4 has been fully assimilated as Igbo speakers, while only 2 are still bilingual in Igbo(Enuani) and Olukumi( defoid) language.

Also it has to be understood that Olukumi is as intelligible to Yorubas as Igala is to Yorubas.
They are not mutually intelligible.

When people on this forum say igbos are revisionist and derive pleasure in bringing others down. I am beginning to agree.
FYI, Ugbodu is an Olukumi town. In fact, the headquarters of Olukumi.

The Olukwumi people is a subgroup of the Yoruba people of the Aniocha North area of the Delta State, Nigeria. The Olukwumi occupy eight communities west of the Niger river, and are together known today as the Odiani Clan in Aniomaland. Historically, the Odianis are the Yoruba clans in the Anioma cultural area. Ukwu Nzu (Eko Efun) town is the historical headquarters of the Olukwumi people and is traditionally headed by the Obi of Ukwu Nzu, Agbogidi The present Obi is H.R.M. Obi Ogoh 1. Olukwumi villages select leaders through the Okpala Obi system, which is the Okpala (gerontocracy) of the Yorubas. The Odianis today are seen as Igbos in Delta State, together with the Ezechime who and Idumuje clan . The Anioma people are the Igbo subgroup from Aniocha (Enuani and Olukwumi), Ndokwa (Ukwuani), Ika, and Oshimili areas of Delta State.

We have mainstream Igbo and Anioma Igbo; the latter are originally Igala, Yoruba and Benin. It's only Aniomas who do not know their history would dispute this.

Olukumi is far deviated Igala.
They also bear Igala name like Ugbade and share common boundary with neighboring Ebu which is also Igala speaking town.
Igala begot many Igbo speaking part of Delta, Anambra and Enugu but because of acculturation and proximity many were influence by high Igbo population which makes them adopted Igbo language today.
Even the remnants Igala speaking towns within those vicinity are all vigorously adopting Igbo language.
Ugbodu, Oku-nzu, Ebu(Delta Igalas) Illushi(Edo Igala), All Anambra Igala speaking part which NZAM my home town is part of , all Enugu Igala speaking part, are all adopting Igbo language posing a threat for the extinction of our mother language.

Don't be silly.
Many Igala refugees fleeing from Attah Igala cruelty were accommodated in many Parts of Northern Igboland (Anioma, Anambra North and Enugu North) where they coexist with Igbo aboriginals they met on ground.
Some of them came as Invaders and were trapped or a stalemate ensued and they had to find a way to co-exist.

Nzam is also a bonafide Igbo town that the Igbo aboriginals had to quell and subdue Igala Invaders after a fierce battle.
The Igalas were allowed to stay and have been peacefully and slowly acculturated and assimilated as Igbos over the years.

Anytime any of you are tired of this peaceful acculturation process, you will be chased back to Idah where you invading, war mongering or refugee ancestors came from.

Beware. Igbo nationalism is currently a moving train and at its peak. Don't remind us of your Igala ancestors aggression that brought you to our land to start with, you will be ruthlessly crushed.

It is funny how people say we are closer to Igalas than to Yoruba.
By proximity, we are closer to our Igala, edoid and igboid neighbors. By ancestry, we are Yoruboid. Our ancestors migrated from Owo in Ondo State. We have never denied who we are.

Because Yorubas are passive in history, Igbos keep snatching our people in SS from us.
A typical Yoruba on Nairaland doesn't know the difference between SS and SE.
