But it's alarming and annoying in the northern hemisphere.

Angola having 120+ , that country is already a collateral.

Even Egypt and Algeria, however they have more development compared to Nigeria.

Oil producing countries in Africa are in bed with too much corruption and non functional civil service..........unless these two monsters are reduced drastically, stagnant progress remains what we see.

Nkonjo borrowed to pay Salaries.....

Ahmed borrowing to finance infrastructures...

Nairaland, make una judge o

Zainab is also borrowing pay salaries and the govt is doing a desperate job to hide this. But the one that cant be hidden is that Zainab is borrowing to service previously borrowed debts.

If you really think the over N20tr borrowed in the last 6 years have been sunk fully into infrastructure, then you must be a novice. Kindly point out the completed infrastructure that's commensurate with over N20tr borrowed funds?

Last time I checked, all the major projects across the country are being financed with microscopic sums per year; Lagos-Ibadan road, Ore-Sagamu, Abuja-Lokoja, Onitsha-Enugu, East-West road, PH-Enugu road etc., none of these major road projects have individually received actual funding up to N20bn in any single calendar year, and that explains why progress on their construction has been extreeeeemly slow.

Even Lagos-Ibadan rail was built with a loan of less than $2bn (less than N1tr), so what really took up the over N20tr borrowed funds? You really think it was all infrastructure as the govt claims? Except you're alternatively saying the money is being stolen in bulk.

Nigeria do one thing, they borrow, send the money back to the country it was borrowed from through the back door (loot) the country will through their bank loan to the youth in their country at a single digit interest, they will generate more money and lend to Nigeria again and the debt continues to pile.

So Okonjo borrowed for salaries and had other monies for infrastructure which includes the trains you are currently borrowing to finish - don't you think something is missing somewhere?

If the current Government is borrowing aimlessly like this , don't you think they are paying both salary and infrastructure ?

Don't let Politicians play with you

Both of them are worried hence saying the same thing. Every dollar gotten from sales of crude oil goes to debt servicing.

You are not conversant with the debate from the article. You have nothing meaningful to contribute.

All the contributors in the article were warning Ms Ahmed to restrict borrowing to domestic sources to preserve the dollar for other useful purposes other than debt servicing. Foreign borrowing is a trap and shortest route to debt default.

NB: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala statement on borrowing to pay salaries didn't connote paucity or absence of funds rather, the 2014 budget ran its course before the new 2015 budget was passed and signed by the government. You cannot pay salaries with funds not approved by National Assembly as captured in the budget. The best was to borrow domestically and a pay immediately the budget was signed.

FTC space booker...lolz

This administration is always fast to borrow however they have so little to show for the astronomical amount they've been given since the inception of their incompetent tenure of governance..SMH.
Very clueless incompetent Mofos.
I remember when this WTO woman once postulated that only if when $1 exchanges for #1k(one thousand naira) only then can our naira be stable that was the day I started seeing her differently and as a misfit.
So many people like her in position are sabotages just like wolves in sheep clothing. SMH @those that celebrate when she was nominated.
Very anyhow Nigerian.

We need young visionary leaders not these charlatans parading in power.

Compare to the infrastructure they have built and are still building, this government is reckless with money. They ve borrowed so much and not much to show for it except tribalism, religious extremism and nepotism.

A government that should have banked on the massive goodwill they enjoy to propagate national integration and cohesion, ended up polarising the country like never before.

Buhari had the chance to leverage on his cult like followership and massive goodwill to direct the country, create solid institutions, cub corruption and straighten our democracy but he chose tribalism and nepotism instead. A huge waste of goodwill and massive support. A big loss to Nigerians, infact, our biggest loss so far

You think they are against social media because you and I abuse them on Twitter or Instagram? This right here is one of the vital reasons they are against it. They want to cut off Nigerians from listening to reasonable and sane people who are putting every effort to bring this country back to sanity. They want to cut off Nigerians from being reach by positive people who will advice them never to make same mistakes they made in 2015.

I don't know you in person...... but with this above point you stated you showed that you are a very intelligent being..... this people are about to put us in a spiritual and physical bondage.... the time for freedom of speech and information is getting over.....
