Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group, has tried to take over the Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna on Saturday morning, FIJ has learnt. An Air Force offiicial told FIJ that as of 6 am on Saturday, a gunfight between the terrorists and military personnel that lasted for close to two hours was ongoing. The terrorists had attacked the base from the back side. The Air Force base, which is large in expanse, is susceptible to being porous. This attack comes two days after herdsmen went to a Nigerian Army barracks in Jaji, Kaduna, and stole cows. It is unconfirmed whether there were human casualties, but sporadic shootings were reported. Foundation for Investigative Journalism |

GeneralFarouq:There is N772bn (about $2bn) of money approved for buying weapons just a few days ago. The money is via a loan for that purpose. The money to pay that loan and more is already in the kitty considering the new oil price. I believe the Navy and Airforce will double their capabilities in the next few years 2 Likes |

SamuelAnyawu: It's believable Sha. NAF has been a bane to the bandits in the northwest. It's only reasonable they attempt to take the aircrafts out on the ground since they do not have the capability to take it out in air. Whether it is JAS/ISWAP or bandits is another thing entirely. 1 Like |

Xbee007: Whether fake or not, NAF should be concerned and work further to improve on base protection. One of NAF regiments base was attacked yesterday and it is reported that all within were killed. There is a video of a bandit boasting about how he specializes in raiding military vehicles including APCs. The military should really be concerned about this bandits. They will be easier to deal with because they are just after money and wealth, no ideology and are not interested in establishing a state. The more time it takes for the military to end them the stronger they get. 9 Likes |

Whyem15:Anytime I pass in front of the base, I get concerned for the things that make the base very easy to attack. Too many foot and vehicular traffic in and out of the base. There is a tertiary institution inside the base, so many shops attached to the fence of the base. No barb wires on the fence. It is just ridiculous! 5 Likes |

Desperately waiting for the delivery of the tucanos. It will change a lot on ground. Concerning the weapons expected from China, I doubt if reasonable quantities of the VT4, SH5 and ST1 were bought. Pakistan recently took delivery of over 40 VT4s. Only six were delivered to Nigeria, I'm sure if the quantity ordered was reasonable, more than 6 would have been delivered. 1 Like |

Borno Governor Suspends French iNGO, ACTED, Over Shooting Training at Maiduguri Hotel … Police Recovers Toy Pistols, Investigates Two Trainers Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has directed the immediate suspension of ACTED, an international Non-Governmental Organization (iNGO) following Saturday’s discovery that the humanitarian iNGO was using a hotel in Maiduguri for training some persons on shooting. Zulum’s spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, who announced the Governor’s directive, said the French iNGO was found using toy guns and simulators in training exercises at a hotel located off circular road in Maiduguri. Gusau explained that residents near the hotel had reported to officials that they were hearing sounds of gunshots from the hotel, following which government officials reported the matter to GRA Divisional Police Headquarters which oversees the hotel’s location. The police found some toy pistols at the hotel while two trainers, both Nigerians, were at the police station with investigation going on. The statement said pending the outcome of police investigation, Governor Zulum has directed sealing of the hotel and suspension of ACTED from any humanitarian activity in Borno State. Gusau noted that Governor Zulum acknowledges and deeply appreciates the roles of credible iNGOs which have been providing critical humanitarian interventions in different parts of Borno. He assured them of government’s continued cooperation and support while also upholding obedience to prevailing laws, policies and rules guiding all activities and actions across the state. 1 Like

Following the death of the factional leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, who reportedly blew up himself to avoid being captured by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP ) fighters, Boko Haram fighters have formed an alliance with commanders of ISWAP. The reunion announced in a viral video which was obtained by LEADERSHIP on Saturday in Maiduguri, shows the Boko Haram and ISWAP commanders placing their palms on top of each other chanting words of solidarity as a sign of new alliance. NAF Airstrikes Kill ISWAP Commander, Destroy 6 Gun Trucks In Borno In the about 13-minute video, the terrorists of both camps pledged their allegiance to one Aba Ibrahim Al-Hashimiyil AlKhuraishi, whom they unanimously ordained as ‘Khalifan Muslimai’, translated as “The Leader of all Muslims”. Four insurgents, drawn from the from Boko Haram bloc and ISWAP sect, were seen in the clip pledging their loyalty to their new commander while speaking in Arabic, Hausa, English and Fulfulde respectively. One of the speakers confirmed the report that intelligence services played critical roles in creating divisions in the camps of the terrorists when he claimed that the enemies succeeded in dividing them, but saying that they have now reunited for a common goal. Thus, in the latest video released by Boko Haram, a terrorist who first spoke, extended his greeting to their new Leader, Khuraishi, thanking him for eventually bringing them together. Pledging his loyalty, he said every member of Boko Haram and ISWAP should be happy that they are now united. Another terrorist, while speaking in Hausa, greeted Al-Hashimiyil Khuraishi, assuring that he and his colleague-insurgents will not flout his orders and commandments. He expressed delight that they are now back as one ‘indivisible entity’, after the mutual hatred that hitherto divided them, gave way. Another ISWAP fighter, who was wielding a sophisticated gun hung on his neck, thundered: ””What is left now is Jihad. We will not stop fighting the unbelievers. All the unbelievers are now in trouble.” According to the daredevil terrorist, every Boko Haram and ISWAP member must be ready to fight under the directive of their new leader, for them to survive and succeed. https://leadership.ng/breaking-bharam-iswap-forge-alliance-threatens-havoc-against-unbelievers/amp/? |

Naija govt doesn't know how propaganda work i beg, especially those drugs found, keep harping on that sh!t in the media , label these guys common criminals, and turn public opinion against them using the media by having police leaders etc going to media offices and attend programs and sh!t, before you know it these terrorists become nothing but junkies causing destructions to people's lives and properties. Instead stuff like this make news for a few hours and it's forgotten, when it could have been used to destroy their image or whatever they stand for bidexiii: |

And the funny thing also, the police can be effective if they choose to, seeing those pics, i was proud of what they've done, but they gotta keep it up, if same thing had been done with BH etc, they wouldn't have become the monster they are now. Nip these groups in the bud before they expand, that's critical, never give them breathing space 2 Likes |

Just thinking out loud here, can't they put some sort of sensors around these bases, outside it's fencing, if they even have fences self. And once triggered you know there is movement, then again, animals could also trigger it i guess. It's weird how these guys keep getting close to military installations without being seen. Everything around these bases should have been leveled by now, vegetation, buildings, etc, get rid of them and have open clearing all around, any one manning the towers can then have good view.
