I remember when I started my program at the University in Salford, I had a believe that I can't best Indians and Chinese in engineering because of the stereotypes we had been continually fed about Asians being geniuses. I won't be suprised if some of my educators had the same bias. Well, gladly some were coming to me for help with assignments and coursework.
