They should just produce 5000naira note since carrying plenty 1000 naira is useless and to reduce the mindset of you having enough cash..
500 naira pepper use it to eat rice night and morning finished.
I should eat outside this July to compare and contrast.

What’s the guarantee that things will change after the remaining two years? In my experience, once prices increase in Nigeria, they hardly ever come back down. Traders get used to selling at that high price such that even when they buy cheaper, they still want to sell at the higher price. People just adjust to the new prices and carry on

We truly have horrible leaders but we are primarily our own problem.

Exactly. Things have gotten out of hand. You don't even know what to expect when going to the market. Nigerians have never had it this bad

When earning vs when spending.

Earning: N1000 + N10 = N1010
Spending: N1000 - N10 = N72

Each time I come back from the market these days I will have to sit down and calculate everything I bought over and over again just to be sure pickpockets didn't steal my money.

Funny but honestly this is true cheesy cheesy cheesy

Sometimes I wonder what happened to the 'huge' money I took to the market...come and see me calculating like a primary school pupil just to be sure I didn't lose money anywhere

Only thing dat didn't increase in price is Air

Small small indomie used to be 1.2k per carton prior bubu regime, then the other noodles were 900-950 depends
Now all are above 2.4k naira

I laughed out loud when I saw this, but it is so true. In the past, you could accurately write a grocery list for someone, give the exact amount and they will come back with those items. It is not like that anymore. Now you go with how much you have and work with the trend. grin

Real Grace of God.

Ordinary to make spaghetti last night, I spent 1500. And this is just a meal for one. Note, i had spaghetti at home and a few condiments.

This morning, I wanted to create a thread and ask how one can manage or go about spending so little for a meal. It's just crazy.

Today now, I want to make soup, my mind dey cut hahahahaaaa...

By Grace of God I must cook soup today. Lol.. this is not funny though.

That's even the most annoying part. The money could not even buy the orisirisi. The basic ingredients I used are to costly.thats the problem there.

Iol.. how is that possible with 1500. Even though those were my normal stuff I couldn't use them. Though I got fried panla fish. Sardine these days doesn't have anything inside and it's now 400. So I can't waste my money on that.

I called my palm oil customer for village oil 3 days back she told me 4,000 naira . I had to ask how many liters she said 5liter naa, Last time I bought the stuff was 2,700.

I now decided to price that one bottle water quantity they sell in market, yesterday someone told me 600, today they said 700I was like okay e don cost true true.

I decided to wait it out grin grin, since I still have very small in the keg, this evening a friend told me her neighbor brought plenty gallons of village oil from delta to sell but she has not decided the price, I am hoping it is far cheaper since she will sell to retailers so I will buy from her.

Bought 5kg semo 2,300 yesterday, last I bought it was 2,000. I have bought it 1,600,1,700, 1,800 this year alone I think .

Spagetti was 260 per unit carton price last I bought now its 270 retailers are selling 280 or more same spaghetti we still bought 220 or so.

Bread nko

Tomatoes pepper, Even sweet potatoes that is always very cheap is now expensive

Its crazy really crazy.

Peeps that have income and feed their family comfortably these days should thank God, I wonder how large families with basic income cope, Its really terrible oo

I think the good 'ol days of writing grocery lists is over. Is there any day that I go shopping (foodstuff) that I don't use a POS machine, even though my grocery list has a provision for miscellaneous/oversight function?

@ your last paragraph. I thought it was just me. The sad reality is that there is no end in sight to this trend and things might get worse.

Hmmm, even salt now don increase in price. There are things I used to buy frequently before but could no longer buy frequently like sardine, peak milk, cornflakes, honey, blueband etc I don even forget say they exist. But we thank God e never reach that level wey person no go get choice . . . Planning on doubling my hustle with my spare time.
