My concern is weren’t the UK in the know of his activities inciting violence in a foreign country (Nigeria as he claims he’s not our citizen)? Weren’t they in the know that he had issued orders countless times for his supporters to kill security personnel and burn government buildings? Aren’t these crimes? Does being a Brit shield him from being held accountable for his actions in another country? Assuming he was granted asylum or ran to Britain (his country) to evade trial, doesn’t Nigeria have the right to find him by any means necessary to face trial? He was a fugitive and committed more crimes while in limbo. Let him face the music. Lastly, he has right to demand consular support from the UK, yes! …let’s see how things will turn out, let’s see how the UK would force his release. |

19th page of the document read; “We can offer you information about the local prison or remand system, including visiting arrangements, mail and censorship, privileges, work possibilities, and social and welfare services. We can also explain where there are different regulations for remand prisoners and sentenced prisoners. For example, in some countries, prisoners are allowed to send more mail when they are on remand. “We cannot get you out of prison or detention, nor can we get special treatment for you because you are British. If however you are not treated in line with internationally accepted standards we will consider approaching local authorities. This may include if your trial does not follow internationally recognised standards for a fair trial or is unreasonably delayed compared to local cases. “With your permission, we can consider taking up a complaint about ill-treatment, personal safety, or discrimination with the police or prison authorities. “Consular staff will keep in regular contact with you, either by visiting personally or by telephone/ letter. The frequency of visits will depend on local prison conditions and your personal circumstances. “If you are a dual British national in the country of your other nationality, we would not normally offer you support or get involved in dealings between you and the authorities of that state. We may make an exception to this rule if, having looked at the circumstances of the case, we consider that you are vulnerable and we have humanitarian concerns.” |

Web2020: Did you see the map was claiming Kogi and Benu as part of brafa! There were some secret agender, if they had suceeded SS would have been second class citizen, you can imagine they're already sharing position for their selves, with other numerous position already allocated secretly, waiting for other to support them as if we're MUGUor MUMU. If you want referendum there many way without claiming lives, that is my problem the loss of live, at a point you could no longer travel to the east. Let me also tell you so many igbo does not support it and they could not speak out because of possible attack on them and this is democracy and the way things were going was a complete opposite democracy, so what should government do at this point, I'm sure even if the president is an igbo man he will do the same, take Imo governor as example. 1 Like |

The power of citizenship - See how the lawyer kept emphasizing that he is a British citizen. I think the British sold this one out. They have given up on Kanu and his antics. I wonder what would have happened if he was an American citizen. American citizens are not tried by foreign governments. Not even by the International court of Justice at the Hague That lady at ICJ tried to press charges against US soldiers in abstentions for crimes committed, Trump government came hard on her and other judges handling the case. |

Nnamdi Kanu is a goner. He does not know that there is NOTHING the UK consular service can provide for him to ensure his freedom. They can only ensure that his fundamental rights are respected during the trial. Foreigners are always advised by their respective Governments to abide with the local laws of the countries they are visiting. To all the people that are thinking that the UK govt will go into war with Nigeria over Nnamdi Kanu, you are all suffering from delusional grandeur. 3 Likes 1 Share |

If Buhari honours British request to release Kanu then he is a most foolish president. British government does not deserve an attention from Nigeria government since they are providing protection to someone instigating carnage in Nigeria that has seen many security personnel died and establishment destroyed. If the British government is in a war with Nigeria they should come out and declare it and not be sponsoring a criminal like Kanu. Kanu must face justice and if found guilty he should be punished according to the law of Nigeria. If you are British citizen and you are sponsoring violence and terrorism in another country you have offended that country and should be judged by the law of that country when you are arrested |

Monogamy: You don't know what you're talking about bro, first of all there's no any smart person on that cabinet to have thought of that and also they've not followed any legal process in the arrest,he's a British citizen and he's entitled to every support from the British consulate and their foreign affairs. |

Go and read the citizen bureau advice on the US website - citizens are constantly reminded to obey and respect the local laws of the countries they are visiting. |

You kidnap a British Citizen without the approval of the British Government - watch in a few days as the UK flexes its muscles...MNK was living in the UK and he was not arrested, but he travels to Kenya and he gets arrested on behalf of Nigeria - that's a big no no. If it were another country, a Nigerian official in their own country would be arrested...only to be released in exchange for their citizen, its a thing China does very well for example. |
