We are being vindicated. The problem we have is some fans over analyse football. We all see Fred work rate and his tendency for forward play. I remember when people blamed him for losing possession quickly, mostly with his second touch, I said it is because his mind is to go forward as quickly as possible. No matter how the space is tight, Fred wants to take the ball forward. This is his first taught.

Fred has a couple of flaws. Passing backwards was never one. I wonder where people got that from

I saw a stat last season; Fred has taken 54 shots and only 7 was on target. If Fred is balling in the Copa America the question is against who?

INABILITY TO RECEIVE THE BALL UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE CBs (cardinal quality of a CDM)

Fred has never been a 6 and does not play as a 6 for Brazil. He is at his best as an 8 however we have Pogba who is a far better 8 than him, hence Fred should be a squad player for us NOT a starter. That is the koko.

Camavinga is also an 8 (CM) but at 18yrs of age maybe there is still hope to reinvent him as a 6. Very highly rated but if we have Mejbri coming through as an 8 as well i am not sure we should be focusing on Camavinga when what we need is a CDM.

If we are buying a quality CDM as well as Camavinga that is fine but we should not buy Camavinga as the CDM. That would leave Pogba, VDB, Fred, McTom, Camavinga, Mejbri who are all 8s and old man Matic as the only 6.


P.S Just checked transfermarkt. It appears Camavinga also plays CDM quite often although he has appeared more as a CM.

I have said it before Fred passes the ball in a way that put his teammates under pressure either by over hitting or under hitting the pass but if it gets to his teammates Data will count it as completed pass.

From stats Fred is the best passer of the ball but from eye view he is not. With all the data can you say Fred is the best passer in the team? Obviously not.

Varane is definitely not aging at 28. Maybe people think he is old because he has been playing at the top for a long time. He possibly still has 6 or more years left in him.

The clincher is the price. Getting a player of his quality at £40-45m is a good deal.
