The Imo State Government on Monday said it had recovered 43 oil wells hitherto ceded to the neighbouring Rivers State. The Coordinator for Petroleum and Gas Matters to the Governor, Goodluck Opiah, who spoke in Owerri, said that the economy of the state was looking bright. According to Opiah, 22 oil wells were recovered from the Mgbede Field in Egbema, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, and 21 oil wells from the Akri Field in Oguta LGA. He reveled that the development had placed the state as the 4th largest oil producing State in the country. Opiah noted that the recovered 43 oil wells would improve the revenue of the State, adding that the recovered 43 oil wells signified the preparedness of the governor to correct the ills of the past. He said, “The oil wells were hitherto ceded to Rivers State. The ugly situation affected the revenue base of the state as we were recorded as one of the lowest oil producing states in the country. But with the recovery of the 43 oil wells, the story has changed, as we have become the 4th largest oil producing state.” ,, https://punchng.com/imo-predicts-boom-over-43-oil-wells-recovered-from-rivers/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1625533480 (Quote) (Report) (Like) (Share) With the gas coming onboard next year, Imo state is on it ways to become the country’s top earner. We just need leaders that will translate these incomes to verifiable projects across the state. 2 Likes |

Kelechi121:And wike will be there looking for ipobbheads to behead... Rivers state has always been stealing from Imo state... From oil wells to Igbo speaking communities even uoto language and culture. So, Imo state is actually a very wealthy and legendary state. The hope Uzodinma mathematics is working. Wealthy state, wealthy individuals, educated state, educated individuals... Imo state... Enemies may cry all the more. 2 Likes |

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by SmartPolician: 11:08am On Jul 06, 2021 |
ScotMisile: IMO, one thing is for a state to be rich, but the judicious use of state resources is quite another. To date, Deltans still argue that their governor isn't doing much despite having huge federal allocation. In any case, this is not only good news for Imo, but it is also good news for the SE people (who have been called all sorts of unprintable names on this forum). |

asha80:Roads?? yes!! Technical schools? Priority? No bro. I think Industrial layouts, free trade zones, a financial district like the boulevard in NY, something like that to attract both local and foreign investors to our dear state should be made priority |

Easternblood: Yes, but technical college is important, imo state has a proposed ImoFTZ at Ngor okpala, since Udenwa regime, I think it would be revisited. As for CBD I support, but government should provide the infrastructure and give out the lands for free with a height restrictions of minimum of 10 floors building. It's very achievable. 2 Likes |

Even with the junction improvement, people don't obey the traffic lights.. ..most Nigerians are too stubborn .. when the traffic gets worst, we complain. We are actually the problem of ourselves |

Grgton: I drive through warehouse daily and people obey the traffic light there. However, what I observed is that some drivers, particularly those that drive busimo will still move ahead when the light is already showing amber before it goes red. Again, I observe that pedestrians haven't started using the zebra crossing yet (maybe because the work is not completed yet) and it puts them at risk while trying to cross the wide road recklessly. Lastly, if drivers or pedestrians fail to comply 100% to the use of traffic lights or zebra crossing, then you will have to blame the system and not the players. Sensitize pedestrians on the need to use zebra crossing (you may be surprised that many people don't even understand its use) and equally impound any vehicle that don't strictly obey the light. |

sanctity454: Why would government give out land for free, in a CBD for that matter? It doesn't work that way, any investor worth its salt that wants to operate in a CBD should be able to buy the land and develop accordingly. Bank/Okigwe road and Wetheral road is already CBD of Owerri. It is left for government to make laws through the House of Assembly that any building to be erected in that axis wouldn't be less than 6 floors. It should also be marked as a strictly non residential area, particularly Bank/Okigwe road. Already, there are up to 4 buildings along there that are up to 7 floors or more. But more are needed to really make it a befitting CBD for Owerri. How I wish that old and dilapidated building at Warehouse, opposite Iheanacho's house would eventually be demolished and a high rise building erected there. Also, Hope Uzodinma needs to complete that multi level car park opposite Garden Park so it be put to use. 1 Like |

sanctity454:Yes, I agree with you on that CBD of a thing. I agree 100% ,we need that in the South East. It will show that Igbos are really the economic strength of west Africa |

sanctity454: Wow, this axis will really look exotic by the time grasses and flowers cover those brown patches. I don't know if Hope Uzodinma's advisers or commissioners are here, please tell him to either rebuild the collapsed Freedom Falls and make it strong or just build a fresh one that would be durable. That Freedom Falls was a nice concept and very aesthetic even though the execution was shoddy. If it is there now with this junction improvement, it will be so beautiful |

Imo state just came into the limelight economically recently, and have done well. But what I mean is a new CBD area established at New Owerri district, with world class infrastructures of underground sewage, cabling, closed drain roads and interlocked internal roads, the free lands will be an incentive for frontier investors, then IMSG can sell the rest, this plan will ensure rapid development of the CBD within 5years. As for the car park, funding is the problem, I heard there are plans to sell it or a PPP arrangement to complete the project. Cc FreeIgbos |
