I think the issue is about the one true God. Jesus in his own words referred to the Father as the One True God in John 17 v 3;
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Jesus never called himself the only true God.

The contention here is claiming Jesus the son of God is also the Father and also the Holy Spirit, which I did not subscribe to.
