Sequel to the above thread, it shows the severity of poverty in Nigeria which cuts across all geopolitical zones (Nigeria is not the world’s poverty capital for nothing). However, for Nigerian women to indulge in prostitution as a means to eat/survive, it tells us one thing – Nigerian men have failed their women.

All over the developed world, it is the men not women who made those societies what they are. Whether South Korea, Malaysia, Uruguay, Singapore, Canada etc., the men made them work. Meanwhile, Nigeria – most populous Black Country globally – has her women selling their bodies for basic items such as what to eat and where to sleep. I would not delve into this malaise as a racial one as I do not know how it is for black women in Kenya, Angola, Brazil or the US but the quality of life women enjoy depend on the level of sophistication their men have built their societies into. This is something Nigerian men have failed at and specifically, those above 40 years. These men failed, woefully, to create a society that is functioning, orderly, prosperous, safe and enjoyable for their women. Even for societies that are adjudged as not gender friendly for women (South Korea, UAE and Japan), their women live way more prosperous lives than their Nigerian counterparts.

We have many Nigerian women trading their bodies in Italy, the UAE and parts of Europe but we don’t have similar or even half the proportion of European ladies doing same in Nigeria. How many Italian women have you seen in Allen Avenue or any red-light district in Nigeria? How many South Korean women have you seen selling their bodies in Nigeria? How many Singaporean ladies have you seen/read travel to Nigeria to “hustle”? I am an ardent reader of Singaporean news and not once have I read that Singaporean ladies sell their bodies to pay school fees, to eat or get a job but these things are rampant in Nigeria because unlike Singapore where the likes of Lee Kuan Yew and Co built a prosperous society for them to thrive, Nigerian men of same generation ruined the country. Worse still, their successors exacerbated these issues through wanton corruption and rife ethnic bigotry compared to Lee’s successors who doubled down on his achievements by diversifying Singapore’s economy thereby generating more jobs for their citizens. Same in Japan where women constitute a larger proportion of luxury goods’ consumers because their men have created a prosperous place for them to be able to afford those products. Women of the world's poverty capital can only dream of being major consumers of luxury goods.

In fact, I have a hypothesis that the reason why Nigerian women are not attractive to men of other races is because of the extreme privation, servitude and sufferings the average Nigerian woman experiences. Generally, things owned by rich people are viewed favourably than those by their poorer counterparts (https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically). If Nigeria was as rich as South Korea, many White, Arabian and even Asian men would have cherished and desired Nigerian women because they know these women are invaluable. For instance, they know by marrying a Nigerian woman, they get a chance of being a passport holder which is visa free to 170+ countries (the strength of a passport is linked to how wealthy that country is). However, in reality, this is not true and no South Korean man desires to marry a Nigerian woman because it will accord him permanent residence status or eventual citizenship which is useless. Rather, he would be glad to marry a British lady because their children get to enjoy both worlds which are functioning and prosperous societies. It is the reason countries with powerful passports put up stringent rules regarding citizenship by marriage to curtail situations of men from poorer countries (like Nigeria) deceiving their women via marriage for the sake of being a passport holder.

It is one of the reasons I don’t fault modern day Nigerian women who are into modern day feminism. I can understand their frustrations when they see the benefits of being a woman in a prosperous society. When South Korean women can travel across the country unharmed or when Japanese women can cultivate their crops in peace and not being hacked to death by nomadic terrorists or when Taiwanese ladies don’t engage in sex for grades because the society has the rule of law or when a Norwegian female decides to travel to Singapore without obtaining a visa but her Nigerian counterpart cannot do same. These benefits and many more were as a result of those societies built to functioning states by their men. Those women are enjoying what their men worked/toiled and built for them. Unfortunately, Nigerian women cannot enjoy same because the men have failed terribly to do same. Nigerian women toil daily doing all manner of odd jobs not because they like them but as a result of the poor economic policies and servitude Nigerian men have made the society into.

P.S. Please note that this is not a post in support of modern feminism but a critical analysis of why Nigerian women suffer and what their men can do.

When dim wits like you wake up and spin what is a natural disaster for both genders into a blame game - my faith in our common humanity is once more strengthened.

The God that created the wise, created people like you too.

Firstly, the socio economic building or construction of a thriving society, why is it men who are to blame that Nigeria failed. A country that was even created by a woman immediately after hot sekz.

Your postulations are wrong. You belittle women by claiming their decisions to trade sexual favors for food comes from a weak mental makeup.

Nigerian women are among the most unfaithful in the world (Durex studies). For a gender that relishes sex, utilising same activity to amass resources will only come naturally. And its not a man's fault.

Foolish women like you are damaged. Mentally you naturally expect men to cater for you, hereby, invalidating your claims of equality.

Orphan, invalid or superhero - Nigerian women can do ALL things except accept responsibility for their own inherent flaws.

Spot on!

Where they should exert energy to better the economy and lives of their women, they won't but will rather flex their muscles at the women asking them what they will bring to the table. Table that is empty.

I still prefer some of our men abroad because haven stayed there for long, they now know better and treat women with care and respect.

Thank you OP for shoving the bitter pill down their throats.

So in the US were everything is supposed to be working, aren't there women who sell their bodies as well for food and shelter?
I guess their men failed too right?
He even said it is the job of men to make or build a society for women to thrive in lol.
When people fail in life, they try to drag down everyone around them to the ground and ridicule their efforts.
Nigerian men are doing very well,I mean very well. You are not just able to meet up with the productive ones because they wouldn't roll with a nonentity like you, hence you use your unproductive circle(your likes) to judge Nigerian men.

don't you think you are focusing on the symptoms and not the disease?

If Nigeria was created after hot sex between Lord Luggard and his prostitute wife, then isn't it the duty of the MEN, who have been ruling since independence to correct the historical wrong? You can only blame the women if they make up almost all the political leaders but as far as I can tell, there have never been one female governor, president, VP, and such position in Nigeria history.

Can you also tell me the correlation between unfaithfulness and building a functioning society? bear in mind that New Zealander women are the world's most promiscuous, but it's also a highly developed country.

It is nobody's job to make a society economically friendly for women and give them softlandings in a capitalist society.
Go and read more on capitalism to know how it works,
As a matter of fact, you have to stiffle any rising competition irrespective of gender.
Going by your logic,if a man ans a woman are in thesame business fighting for market share or job fighting for promotion, then i guess the man is suppose to take his legs of the throttle so women in his society can thrive lol grin

Let me summarize this for those who might not have the chance to read it.... OP is implying that Nigerian women cannot survive career wise without Nigerian men...That their survival strongly depends on the male counterpart ..,( his example was high number of Nigerian female prostitutes in Italy that men failed to help ).... Is he telling the truth?...

I won't lie that you've had some intelligent write ups on Nairaland and I've come to respect some of your views over time even going as far as requesting for your personal advice on some issues however you've missed it here.

This is pure pandering nothing else.

I would not delve into this malaise as a racial one as I do not know how it is for black women in Kenya, Angola, Brazil or the US but the quality of life women enjoy depend on the level of sophistication their men have built their societies into.

Whether you like it or not, it is a race issue. The Sub-saharan region(consisting of blacks majorly) is one of the poorest in the world. Granted that your postulation holds true at the formation of these countries after their independence where majority of the leadership were men, still women have had opportunities to lead or at least form part of the leadership though in minorities (last 30 years), however what is their contribution to the development of their countries or Nigeria in particular however little. In these roles, what have they done to advance their gender or the region as a whole. NOTHING! It's still the same old story: looting national natural resources like their male counterparts. Blame men all you want, but women have not shown they're better in any way if given such opportunities which is why I'm all bringing it down to race as blacks are yet to create any properly developed nation whether MALE or FEMALE.

Why are you tackling this from the prostitution perspective only: a profession which has been touted as the oldest in the world. This is a profession that can be found in most places on planet earth: whether developed, still developing or third world.

I might be wrong, but you're looking at this from a moralistic perspective and hence heaping the blame on men because they're the supposed customers from this and that is the weakness in your write up.

You should have added links of women hawking on urban streets, carrying blocks at construction sites and other degrading low paying survival jobs and maybe, just maybe, your write up would have been taken more serious.

It is one of the reasons I don’t fault modern day Nigerian women who are into modern day feminism. I can understand their frustrations when they see the benefits of being a woman in a prosperous society.

Typical, it's always the benefits/pay/conducive working environments/titles that they're interesting in, not the sacrifice, high risks jobs, long hours or field jobs.

In summary what you are saying is men should develop the country so women can get more worth for their hoeing.
The United States is said to be a working country but has the highest number of homeless people in the world.
In nigeria, if a young guy goes into yahoo to make ends meet, people castigate him and call him a criminal.
but if a young girl sells her body to make ends meet, she was desperate and left without choice thereby attracting pity.
Talk about double standards.

Many men like to talk about how women don’t build civilization. How women are weak. How we can’t handle power and that’s why all our leaders have been majority men. Now you’re being asked to take responsibility for the society you’ve created (and rightly so) and all I hear are deflections. Which one is it?

This is not true either by sheer number (China) or per capita (New Zealand) basis. Nonetheless, there would always be poor people in the society

He actually typed nonsense because asides the fact that we have people who are very sympathetic to yahoo, blaming it on lack of jobs or claiming it is our money the whites took away…There is nowhere in Nigeria that the majority are sympathetic to prostitutes. Even a sexually expressive or adventurous female who isn’t a prostitute is heavily slutshamed.

My posts in the travel section are quite simple: travel legally, learn the language, obey the laws, pay your taxes, don't discourage people from fleeing Nigeria when you are abroad, convert your money to dollars, choose countries with straightforward citizenship routes, choose a good school, study relevant courses etc. If those sound foolish to you, it is quite unfortunate.

Nigerian men doing well individually isn't the basis for this thread but collectively? Nigerian men are doing badly, men not women have dominated the political scene since amalgamation yet the country is home to more poor people than anywhere else and the second highest unemployment rate after Namibia. The economic policies so far have been formulated and implemented by men not women. Nigeria is a failed society and that blame is on the men. Unless you mention one developed country where women were at the forefront of civilisation, then I am wrong but as long as there is none, I maintain my stance.

Nigerian men flee daily to developed countries for better life, how many Emiratis have fled to Nigeria for same better life? Don't they like prosperity? Why should an Emirati woman move to Nigeria to "hustle" when her men have built the UAE into a functioning society? How many South Korean ladies have you read/seen as prostitutes in the UAE? Why would they resort to that when South Korea is prosperous? Which gender was at the forefront for making the country what it is today? According to you, Nigerian men are doing exceptionally well than South Korean men? Which country is more prosperous/functioning/has the rule of law/safer? Biologically and evolutionary, men or male species are the forefront of providing for their households, why should it be different from creating a functioning society?

People would resort to the barest minimum to survive and for most women, this involves selling their bodies. Naturally, women are demisexual unlike men who have raging hormones but at the point of survival, women will resort to prostitution just to survive when they aren't built for it. If these women had good jobs and lived a prosperous life, they won't do such or the numbers would not be high. Building a functioning society is on men not women (no functioning society in the world had women at the forefront, none). Failure to do this will result in women taking the last option.

Nigerian men should build a prosperous society for their women, it is that simple. Men not women in the US, Germany, UAE, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Canada, UK and everywhere the vast majority of Nigerian men flee to (ask them why they do so and the answer is: to cater for my family/children/future generations - why should it be different in creating a functioning society for the women?) built those societies to their current states.

If the responsibility of providing for a family is on the man, why should it be different in doing same for a country?

Then this:

See response:

pansophist:
One thing a man needs to know is that he is a regulator of what a woman will be. If her generation lay more emphasis on sex, then that is what exactly majority of the women will have to offer.

I've had the chance to witness the gender dynamism in different cultures from Africa to Europe, to Asia and Middle East and it was clear to me that the women there are a reflection of what the society the men built. For example in Turkey, virginity is prized high in Muslim culture and lots of their women are virgin. In Slovakia, your typical naija insta girl would be looked down upon and classified as defective and in China, its even more stricter.

The point is simple. If Naija men stop the obsessive chase of women's pants, making it clear that being a woman with a coochie is not a password to his commitment, then women will regulate themselves. Men create the society, and women integrate into that society. If she is getting rewarded by being loose and unvirtous, then why be better ? If you'll go the heaven even if you're the demon himself, then why repent?

I am in complete agreement with the OP and any woman who supports the OP would have as well proved my hypothesis right – that majority of young Nigerian women today can never be anything of worth without the help of a man.

For 9 out of every 10 women who are successful, there's always a man behind the scenes who started them up/bankrolled their little beginnings.
This is simply the summary of what the entire OP is about, so you may direct your hormone-filled rage to him if it upsets you.

The OP in a bid to put all the burden on men, has successfully made Nigerian women look like everything we have ever known and believed to be true from social conditioning – a completely useless gender without the help/support of a man/men.

Right, but I need some clarification on something. grin

** Please note that I am in agreement with your view, so this is just me trying to pick your brain.

Regarding the above in bold, are you trying to imply then that in prosperous countries (countries that are not poor at least), the women who still engage in prostitution are justified while the men from these societies have still succeeded and not failed their women in any way?

If YES, then I figure here that the problem (from your POV) is not actually the poverty, or the prostitution, or even the men.
Your bone of contention is simply the reason behind the prostitution, nothing more.

In other words, if a woman (whether in Nigeria or in Australia) isn't doing prostitution to put food on her table and/or shelter over her head (perhaps she's just doing it because she simply enjoys the experience of having different dícks inside her daily), then nothing unusual has happened and the men are not to be blamed anymore, no?

The OP is either a vag.ina person posing as male or a friggin bloody simp so soaked in the ways of the blue pill that he has no hope of seeing the light. Women decide to prostitute themselves for their daily bread and somehow it falls on a man's shoulder as his fault, I'm not surprised sha.

Mr.Gerrard,

If we agree on your assertion then we can say the idea of feminism is null and void as your assertion clearly implies the males are the superior and "own" the society.

On another note, why would you imagine building of a nation to be one sided and not collectively (both male and female input) ?

Why would you blame Men for the decision women make? By virtue of being a woman, we can clearly assume she is an adult and capable of making decisions (good or bad) and must be able to accept the consequences or rewards. She has freewill just as her male counterparts and can decide to be useful or otherwise.

Thanks.
