Lol...even the owner sef is married. So married man don cancel. Married man be that. driver and owner both get bills to pay.

Generally, i still think 30k weekly rental is fair.

30k weekly transcends to 120k monthly.

So it will take owner averagely 2 years to recover for an average corolla cost( lets say 2.4m)

While the drivers can make the same 2.4m within a year if he keep 70k to himself weekly( net 100k, 30k for owners, 70k for drivers).. this is a very dickes and selfish business model.

Yet owners of the car will spend on repairs and damage, pay insurance telc while the drivers flex and pay nothing on repairs.

ANY OWNER/PARTNER COLLECTING LESS THAN 40K IS A slowpoke. EXPECIALLY ON TOKUNBO CARS.

God bless you with these analogy. It is only on uber business they are debating while drivers should earn more than the Partners.

40k or nothing should be the Standard with the rate at which car part and repairs is increasing.

Actually the reason it's a debate is because its a partnership and NOT employment. In the other analogy the workers are employees, in e-hailing the driver is not, same way car owner does not work for the e-hailing company.
The agreement is supposed to guarantee income for the landlord, unlike in the employer employee scenario where income is not guaranteed.
The reason you must negotiate terms is because all parties in the e-hailing chain feed off one another

Why is 30k fair to you when a hardworking driver makes over 200k a week?

Only selfishness and entitlement mentality of drivers is the reason why someone will be suggesting 25k weekly for a tokunbo car.

So I guess partners can never have extra earnings

grin grin

Small small...it's going back up from 25k to 30k
It's only fair that as drivers make more, while cost of car and spare parts increases, that rent should Increase too.
Any driver trying to conceal big earnings so that partners don't increase rent in d face of all these rising costs is being unfair at the least and malicious at the most.

You don't get, the analogy was only meant to show that bearing the risk does not translate to you making more money.

He says the driver bears all the risk and should earn more money. This is because he's only looking at the physical risk but I don't see it that way. The partner invested 100% of the money and is bearing the financial risk.

Sometimes I even wonder how this 30k weekly was arrived at. Who did the calculations and how did we get here because I know how much I make a week and it has never made any sense to me especially with the partner doing all the repairs. Don't get me started on 25k

Congratulations @Dru23.
Finally your challenge have paid off.

You can now officially increase your rent to a suitable amount with what's obtainable on the streets.

So when we give a vehicle to a married man how much should he remit and who will bear the cost of maintenance?

Maybe rental should be given based on martial status.

Yea...driver bears all the risk, danger and threat, puts all the work, time and energy. Utilizes his Intelligence and craft to make the money.
Car is insured but life cannot be replaced so if he makes 1m and gives owner 30k its not out of place.

Driver should use all this intelligence and craft to make 2.5 million or 1.5 atleast and buy a CAR.. Eyin onisolenu po lori platform yii... See talk!

Someone said he invested 2.5 million for a car, another said he invested his ENERGY so the energy man should earn more than the man who put in his cash... You see why some of you might end up being a driver for LIFE... Such cruel mentality..

Since it's easy to make that 120k weekly and partners want the lion share

The reasonable thing to do is to just retrieve your car and go hustle and net that 120k this time all to yourself Abi.

The only reason i decided to handle maintenance is because an average Nig driver lacks maintenance culture, even on his personal car, not to talk of a rental car. Do you know that a mad driver bought all this oil in eva/ragolis bottle and pour into my 2006 corrolla? A driver that remit 15k weekly, which i later increase to 20k..
Look at all the dashboard drivers has been posting for the past one month here, how can you be making such money and yet be asking for 25k weekly, out of an average of 100k net?
You know what, you guys see car owner as someone who has money and probably doesn't know what to do with it, and you see yourself as PROBLEM that needs all d money to get fixed, hence, you should earn 3/4.... You are not different from all thos agbero driving T4 or LT.. But you forgot one thing, once they take that car from you, you go back to your crumbs.. Car owner will still survive. You were not remitting a kobo b4 he bought his car.. Lets be fair..

Whether to increase rental or not should be up to the partners... I think 25k rental is low due to raising cost of parts etc ......

But my strategy is at 25k ..This is by attracting good drivers and the type of car been used..... I believe once you are able to put your car in perfect shape this will avoid downtime ......

When I put a list of my recent 2003 Honda Civic repairs. Even though it was a Tokunbo the goal was to be able to have the car on the road longer than other cars and to avoid downtime.......this way my 25k rental will make more sense.......

Some partners that are collecting more 25k will likely spend more on repairs than me not due to driver over working the car , but due to not having the car fully ready for the job.......

This is why I pick the civic, it can handle the ruggedness of the job and it is low maintenance.. So when u see me investing 100k plus on repairs on a tokunbo car. It is to make sure to avoid down time.....This is how I make the 25k rental work for me ..

Most of my Civic have little down time...you invest in the car by making sure the car is up to par. Also hiring good drivers matters a great deal........

I think the best to save you from all these troubles if you " hopefullight", are a car owner, is giving your drivers salary.
At least, you wont think about the money the drivers are making more than you.

No sir, its not easy to be honest.. Its not about lion share, its about being reasonable and fair.. I work for someone, i earn salary, i got a degree to be qualified for that job, i put in alot of effort to get that degree, i leave my house 5am everyday to get to work 7/8am....You see that my CEO, she stays in banana island, usually come to work around 11am or even 1pm, sometimes she does show up self and there is nothing we can do.. My self and all other staff put in the CRAFT and INTELLIGENCE, facing threat every day at different bus stop, jumping bus etc.. You know what, on monday am going to walk up to my boss and explain to her, why i should be earning more than her? Pls advice me..

I really wonder how you partners break even with collecting 30k weekly, and still handle all repairs and maintenances

Jehovah. grin

Of all the transportation vehicles used in Nigeria, Uber own too poor.

Sienna to Abuja - 45k to 50k a week
LT bus from OkoAfo to CMS - 10k daily (Yes... daily)
Okada for some streets - 8k to 10k weekly

Then I'll buy Corolla at 2.5 million and be collecting 25k weekly and handle all maintenances? grin

With all due respect, Dru23, I know this is a big request, but do you mind showing us how you break even.

Please kindly educate us on how you do it. Because I just don't see how realistic it is

I've been following the trend carefully, and After hearing from both sides, I agree that there's a need for an upwards review of price. Partners should state their expected returns, if a driver feels he can cope, then fine, if not, you're not compelled to get a car from a particular person.
@smallvill contact your person/s and let them know what you'll like to go with, state your price.

Oga car owner....so how much are you suggesting...what do you think is the fair rate?

Honestly bro, am not suggesting anything, because its meaningless, i cant regulate or enforce it... Car owner has much much more to lose, in my opinion.. All the threat, danger and risk you face and complain about, i already face and embrace it while looking for that 2.5 million to buy the car, so its ur turn, embrace it!.. Do you know why most car owners take care of maintenance in most cases 100%? Because their eyes is on the investment, d 2.5m.. They want to protect it.. No driver can maintain a car d way the owner will do it, its his car after all. So why should i get peanut, and do 100% maintenance.. We are losing.

The most important factor in the mix is the driver. A God fearing driver. Someone who has empathy.

If you have a car and you are lucky to get that kind of driver. Good one.

But honestly, even @30k weekly, the deal favours the driver.

I have maintained it, there's no way in the world, I will put 2.5 million to buy a car n put on Uber.
There are better businesses with good ROI without the added pressure of managing a driver.
