I really wonder how you partners break even with collecting 30k weekly, and still handle all repairs and maintenances

Jehovah. grin

Of all the transportation vehicles used in Nigeria, Uber own too poor.

Sienna to Abuja - 45k to 50k a week
LT bus from OkoAfo to CMS - 10k daily (Yes... daily)
Okada for some streets - 8k to 10k weekly

Then I'll buy Corolla at 2.5 million and be collecting 25k weekly and handle all maintenances? grin

With all due respect, Dru23, I know this is a big request, but do you mind showing us how you break even.

Please kindly educate us on how you do it. Because I just don't see how realistic it is

Everyone has a different strategy o... Having good drivers and good maintenance culture will help u in the run.......

Keep in mind my cars are Tokunbo and I source for them cheap...i have some cars that are on the platform for at least 2 yrs or more......maintainence culture matters alot

Its crazy for car owner i swear... Once you save some cash, d guy show up with a huge maintenance and everything or most it will just zoom... And you start saving again.. Had to tell my driver that am not buying tires again, he should sort it out.. But the truth is, its your CAR, you really really and always wants to see it in great shape. This guys dont really care... Dru is a bit lucky, he has access/location to his favour, he get car at rock bottom prices due to his access, he get good quality spare part due to his access.. If he decided to start buying corrolla today, he might not spend up to 2m to get it here...

With weekly remittance of 40k, I dont see how the income is threaten because a driver make these within 2 days conveniently.

Only selfishness and entitlement mentality of drivers is the reason why someone will be suggesting 25k weekly for a tokunbo car.

Do you drive or you are assuming like those who see dashboards.?

Cos without surge, I don't think you can do 40k conveniently in 2 days.

No sir, its not easy to be honest.. Its not about lion share, its about being reasonable and fair.. I work for someone, i earn salary, i got a degree to be qualified for that job, i put in alot of effort to get that degree, i leave my house 5am everyday to get to work 7/8am....You see that my CEO, she stays in banana island, usually come to work around 11am or even 1pm, sometimes she does not show up self and there is nothing we can do.. My self and all other staff put in the CRAFT and INTELLIGENCE, facing threat every day at different bus stop, jumping bus etc.. You know what, on monday am going to walk up to my boss and explain to her, why i should be earning more than her? Pls advice me..
You see how you driver reason here..

The aggregate salary of all her employee is more than what she earn....if you want to earn more diversify (the higher the number of car you have on the platform the higher your earning ).

Before she employed you went through interview and you both agreed on a fair remuneration...just like you did with the driver renting your car.....if you think you want more, then call your driver and renegotiate...it's simple and straightforward.

....I ask you again, what do you think is the fair weekly remittance ...

When drivers are cashing out, in December for instance, because we all know December is sure unlike the red seas we see now that I can't explain... Do drivers drop any extra?
Now drivers are cleaning out and some still tell stories. Greed is a bad thing bros. The disdain guys have for car owners here is amusing if not downright absurd.
Life is good when the money goes round
You know there are weeks that for some reasons business won't go as planned, but driver must still find a way to pay car owner. So it's not always rosy, contract is contract. 25k weekly surge or no surge, rain or no rain.

Small small...it's going back up from 25k to 30k
It's only fair that as drivers make more, while cost of car and spare parts increases, that rent should Increase too.
Any driver trying to conceal big earnings so that partners don't increase rent in d face of all these rising costs is being unfair at the least and malicious at the most.

Now this is a good point... On this platform, driver complain that riders are paying ging too low, ride is cheap.. The app company did a slight increase, plus bonus, plus regular surge, driver makes more money now, but same driver want partners to remain d same.... On friday, nearly all d babes in my office were struggling to get uber to go home.. Right in front of me ride was showing 11k to go from oniru to omole, yes traffic was huge but i shock.. A driver will pocket that one and still gives the OWNER of d car 20k at d end of d week.. I had small fuel in my car, had to quickly refil to half tank, left oniru 11pm and got to ketu 2am, my fuel was still around quarter. Maybe i use 1,200 fuel for d trip.. So if am on uber, i might pocket like 8k for that single trip, if am paying Owner per trip let assume, i will go and give him 1k...because i have been stress to achieve that.. Its not fair..

I have cars on the platform and I drive as well...the achievable earning (net) in this hustle is 60k weekly...which is netting 10k daily without surge

On weeks with surge...you can climb 80k to 100k net (which is not consistent)

All those peeps flying around with dashboard (most of them uses a shared account)

Is it not same Lagos....with the traffic situation (the higher the long pickups you get the higher your chances of making enough : So the question is how many long distance journey can you cover in a day, beger to lekki this days you will spend close to 3hrs, lekki to sangotedo ?.. Ikeja to lekki? Island to ikorodu? How many of this can you get in a day. What makes the work easy is surge

On the part of the car owners maintenance and repairs is on the increase but if you source for quality parts it wont be a everytime thing, if your car requires repairs every two weeks or monthly apart from servicing then something is wrong.. but you can easily renegotiate with your partner's.....25k,30k,35k,40k you decide what you want, if the driver consider it high, both of you continue the search till you get what fits

Does this also apply to regular businesses? I mean, if I open a shawarma spot and employ marketers, bike riders, and someone who makes the shawarma. Do they deserve to earn more than me who invested my money since they do all the work and bear all the risk.

That's different na u employ people and pay salary isn't it.

If u r doing the other model, where u provide shop and equipment and they pay u a certain amount irrespective of how many shawarma they sell.

Of course, that's the very reason why since car owner did not get more in the time of plenty, he also should not get less in the lean time... Because, agreement is agreement.
It behoves the driver to make arrangements for those times.
Also, in the event of down time due to repairs or fault of the landlord, weekly payments are prorated and remittance is made only for days the car was with the driver IN working condition.
When I was on rental, my landlord was one of my offline clients, I never carried him or ran errands for him for free same way I never defaulted on his rent which was 35k for most of the time, it came down to 30k close to the end.
Fair is fair

Wetin person go do? I went to one of these parks to make enquiries about giving them a Sienna. While the returns made more sense than bolt, I didn't like the fact that I won't be involved at all. They recruit the driver, handle repairs and maintenance and just give you your returns. At the end of two years or so, the contract ends. Unfortunately, I have learnt some bitter lessons in the past about business models like that and I can't put my money in anything where I won't be actively involved. I also know that the vehicle they will return at the end of two years will be closer to a coffin than a vehicle.

Na so I say make I manage bolt like that. Money cannot be left to idle away in the bank.

Boss....can you tell me your sector/industry, that your boss pocket 100million monthly (that's over a billion yearly) .

What gives you the impression of 120k, 80k weekly?.....did you consider fueling on the part of the drivers and other miscellaneous expense?

You need to read up the word Rent.....what do you think your boss will do if the owner of the premises come to her and say madam I heard you are making 100m per month...going forward my rent is now 60m monthly? ..it's either she agree or look else where for other options.

Try to read and understand my point....you have everyright to increase your rent, drivers have every right to accept or reject.. do you

You are talking as if the car owner contribute nothing to the business.

Let even assume the business generate 80k net income every week( "assumption) is 25k payment Not shameful and heartless to you?

With the Dashboard we are All seeing( thanks to dru, weekly remittance must be 40k expecially for corolla and other tokunbo Brands.

How much the driver makes with a car on rental is not the business of the car owner.. the problem is not the earning, the problem is the contract details used, and the man management prowess of the car owner....

The average car owner don't know anything about the business, and their failure starts from asking for just any rental agreement contract, they modify the name and validate the contract without personalising it to fit their preference and what they are offering..imagine a landlord in VGC using same tenancy agreement with a landlord in Akute e.t.c. Your rental agreement must represent the current economy and projected economy of the business (if not you will complain and cry every-time)

Secondly, Rental implies giving out/transfering possession of a particular thing (not ownership) to a second party for use in return for an agreed fee, termed rental fee) the returns generated from the use of the item is basically the rentee largese and by law in return he is expected to pay the agreed rental fee to the renter .... So whether the rentee makes more than the rental fee that's his gain and if the rentee makes less than it, definitely his loss, anything other than this is just individual play of give and take. For instance: you rent out a house and the company makes a lot of money and you feel cheated, the legal thing to do is to activate the part of the contract which states the rental fee is open to renegotiation, but the question is how many of this rental contract have such provision (none that I have seen)

Thirdly, under rental especially for an item that has depreciating or appreciating attribute there must always be a well stated plan of action, when it comes to maintenance and repairs, most of the rental agreement just indicate repairs and maintenance to be handled by owner (wrong move) some indicate that repairs below or above this amount (wrong move). Imagine renting a house and your bulb gets spoilt and you start disturbing your landlord (?). For car , there are two type of cost ...running cost and repair cost....running cost such as fueling, servicing, buying of battery, electrical fault ought to be handled by the driver, why repairs such as engine related, gear related and other high end expenses should be handled by the renter (ownership is not transferred)

Renter (car owner) have every right to review his rental fee, very legal, that can be done reviewing the current earning possiblity, the current repair expenses, and you draw up your contract and table your offer to the rentee (driver) it's left for him to accept, reject or counter offer. (simple).

Lastly, the man management skill, if you don't possess it, you have no business investing in this nature of business... You must be ready to hire, review, fire, and inspect....lack in any of those areas and you will cry bitterly...

I will restate my point, any amount the driver makes out of the car is never the business of the car owner....if you want most of the earning to be yours as the owner, then what you have to do is employ drivers (I moove)

Yea...driver bears all the risk, danger and threat, puts all the work, time and energy. Utilizes his Intelligence and craft to make the money.
Car is insured but life cannot be replaced so if he makes 1m and gives owner 30k its not out of place.

Is it your application of energy or the availability of the car that provided the means to make money? If it is by application of energy, hardwork and bravery, abokis pushing wheel barrow should earn 1million a month. Alas, they cant because they only have a wheel barrow.

That you were provided a road-worthy car by the partner is the only reason you are an ehailing driver and can use your strenght to make the said millions in a year.

In reality, no partner should offer a tokunbo car for less 40k a week at the initial. Because after the first year, he will likely get strung up on repair expenses and drivers asking for a reduction in rental because the car is not in pristine condition or spend some time at the mechanic workshop every now and then.

No police, no lastma, no mechanic, no repairs.

I only added a liter of engine oil cos I realized my oil was short just after 3000 miles from last service.

For me, i used to be a driver on the playform b4.. Work schedule will not allow it anymore. I stopped driving over a year ago... Yes, the average i was making then was about 80k to 100k weekly.. At first it was about 60k,then later i got some tips here and it improve to about 80k to 100k weekly, pls note that i reject trips alot.. I drove my car tru out.. I have never paid rental... Assuming am on rental and my daily bread is only from that source, i will make more money, i will drive to ANYWHERE.. Even traveling, i will go because money must be made. Even without seeing those dashboard, i believe ANY driver can and should make atleast 80k net, weekly... So pls, how much should a car owner that handles all repair or all major repairs get from 80k weekly for his investment of 2 million pls?
The answer cannot and should not be 25k, not even 30k sir... If youre saying 25k, then you should drive forever, driving is lucrative then.

30k weekly transcends to 120k monthly.

So it will take owner averagely 2 years to recover for an average corolla cost( lets say 2.4m)

While the drivers can make the same 2.4m within a year if he keep 70k to himself weekly( net 100k, 30k for owners, 70k for drivers).. this is a very dickes and selfish business model.

Yet owners of the car will spend on repairs and damage, pay insurance telc while the drivers flex and pay nothing on repairs.

ANY OWNER/PARTNER COLLECTING LESS THAN 40K IS A slowpoke. EXPECIALLY ON TOKUNBO CARS.
Nothing stops the owner from driving himself and making all the money.

It's either he drives his car himself, or he collects his 30k weekly, or he sells his car, or he let's the car rot, or my favourite option, he kicks a fat rock.

Dashboard posters are exceptionally gifted. They're not your average Joe.

The problem you have failed to identify is the problem that some drivers will not meet up even if you give them a brand new car that requires no repair except servicing, for the first 70,000 km

You don't get, the analogy was only meant to show that bearing the risk does not translate to you making more money.

He says the driver bears all the risk and should earn more money. This is because he's only looking at the physical risk but I don't see it that way. The partner invested 100% of the money and is bearing the financial risk.

Sometimes I even wonder how this 30k weekly was arrived at. Who did the calculations and how did we get here because I know how much I make a week and it has never made any sense to me especially with the partner doing all the repairs. Don't get me started on 25k

Let's get the idea of leasing a vehicle right. How much the driver makes is not the business of the car owner. Just say how much u want for the car.
If owner wants more, he should go and drive the car. That's why I am still driving and not leasing my car. If I could drive all 3cars, at thesame time, I will gladly do grin

Owner is supposed to insure car, so if anything happens, he gets his money or car back.

Driver should use all this intelligence and craft to make 2.5 million or 1.5 atleast and buy a CAR.. Eyin onisolenu po lori platform yii... See talk!

Guy speak English. This is not your kparakpo meeting.

Owner that has bought car should park d car in garage and be collecting weekly rentals from his 2.5m car.
Before u where born rental has be happening, it's u that want to come and know more than the world.
