Good morning house.
Please, I want to further my Safety course career after having certified with HSE level 1&2, and recently I saw Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) online, although I didn't know much about them but I put in for HSE level 3 through them, few days ago I received mail from them that I'm qualified to undergo training for my application.

It's said by them that they offering scholarship, that is the training fee should be 100k but now 40k.

Now, my question is; are they genuine and industrially recognized?

I don't want to fall victim.

Please help, all Safety Reps/Officers/Professionals in the house

ISPON is a genuine safety institute. They were previously called Nigeria institute of safety professional. After getting the level 3 certificate then there are other courses to enroll. Then if you want to be recognized internationally then get NEBOSH certificate, you can Google them.

When institutions start requesting for money from successful job applicants in order to train them, run cos they're nothing but scammers.

This I have seen.

I suggest you go to their office to confirm.
If you don't leave in the same state with the company, you could make some calls and see if you can send someone to visit the company's address for you.

That's the best and only way you can find out if they are genuine.

ISPON is not just a recognized institute but a government-approved regulatory agency for Occupational Health & Safety in Nigeria.
However I'm having doubts that the email you received is from ISPON. Would you mind sharing the email address and message you received?

Yes they are. I have a friends dad who was (is?) very active in the org. I remember it was renamed from Nigerian Safety something ... to Nigeria institute of safety professionals (ISPON).

Please go to www.ispon.gov.ng and feel free to contact all genuine ISPON branch chairman. There are many fake ISPON accounts flying around and what you have could be one of them.

kayteajay111, I can authoritatively tell you that ISPON is the most recognized safety training institute in Nigeria.

However, it's better to save up that HSE money, add something to it and go for NEBOSH. NEBOSH is one of the most recognized safety certifications in the world.

NEBOSH exam is costly and you will asked to retake it if you fail. But then, if you cannot afford it, it's okay to do HSE 1, 2 and 3 at ISPON.

Let him be careful with the online replies. Walk into their offices and make enquiry. One Nigeria might have opened an online office faking ISPON.

I am an ISPON member...ISPON is the backbone of OSH in Nigeria as you can't get any Job in the safety field with the certification of ISPON cool
Re: Is ISPON A Recognized Institute? by kkboy(m): 9:47am On Jul 24, 2021
Yes ISPON is the highest safety certification body in Nigeria for now. I know they are working with NEBOSH and IOSH to be their representative in Nigeria.
But I don't think that scholarship post is coming from them. Beware of scammers by visiting the office or their offical and verified website.
