Yeah, this is the best we got...and we came up against countries with much better sides than we have.

The thing is, we need a side that can produce consistently good results...not one off results against the US, consistent results...and you do that by building up a critical mass of homebased basketball talent, good structures from youth to adult, enough expertise in the game in coaches and trainers and reserchers.

We lost because our best was not good enough. Time to go home and do things to make basketball more popular and better funded, and have more people playing so that we have a glut of talent to choose from.

Actually it was not foolish

The idea was to get the males to produce a strong enough lead so that the female anchor won't have to do much work.

Sadly it did not work out as planned, but for half of the final lap it looked like it was working. The male athletes from other countries had to do the work to beat the lead establised by our guys in earlier legs.

(And this is a new event, which we don't have much experience in. )

Japan was the first "foolish" country to try that nonsense during the final of this "new" race in Doha(2019)... the established gap was closed by all the guys in the last lap as the Japanese lady couldn't maintain the lead.
