Ikamu Hamidu Kato Sentenced To Two Years In Prison For Insulting Buhari, SGF by DefHQ: 12:09am On Aug 03, 2021
Justice Dimas Gwama of the Magistrates' Court IV in Yola, Adamawa State sentenced a youth, Ikamu Hamidu Kato, to two years’ imprisonment for insulting president Muhammadu Buhari.

SaharaReporters had earlier today reported that Kato was remanded in prison for insulting Buhari and Mustapha on social media.

Kato, a youth leader of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the Hong area of the state, allegedly took to his Facebook page to condemn the insecurity in the area following recent attacks by armed men suspected to be Boko Haram members.

He was alleged to have insulted Buhari and Mustapha in a viral video on his Facebook page.

The presiding judge said in passing the sentence, the court had considered the remorseful mien of the convict and his plea for mercies.

But Gwama said despite his show of remorse and plea for mercies, the court had to convict him to serve as deterrent to others.

Earlier, the convict pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy by convicting him with an option of fine because he was a family man and had orphans under him.

He was later invited, investigated and arraigned before the court by the Department of State Security (DSS).
the Hong local government chapter of the PDP has suspended the youth leader.

Respect the, north!!! When it comes to northern interest, her politicians jettison party affiliations..

See the way northern PDP joined their APC counterparts to condemn and sentence the young man for insulting their terrorist leader.

But Down south, both APC and PDP southern leaders cannot even unite to pursue ordinary restructuring or resource control.
Nah so dem go dey fight till Buhari leave office.
Shame!

2 more years and buhari is done for…

His legacy would be forever be remembered as a dark time in our nations history.

The north should know that the rest of Nigeria would not forget this regime’s high-handedness.

They shall have no right to complain over governance ever again.

I don't understand why everyone is attacking Buhari for something the DSS did. That secret police has a chief and everyone should be calling him out.

We know that Buhari is terribly incompetent, but we cannot continue to blame him for the inadequacies and overzealousness of people who he appointed to run critical institutions of the state.

These people need to understand that they owe the country a duty to serve her, not the clueless Aso Rock herder.

This is what happens when you let animals rule you. In the 60s they put Sir Obafemi Awolowo in jail for the most ridiculous charges, killed Abiola and his wife animals can't rule humans.

I don't quite agree, please. There's division of labor in government. If Buhari could do all that, why did he appoint someone to head the DSS then?

Buhari cannot be seeing everything that happens around the 36 states and the FCT...that's why the constitution empowered him to appoint people to man those institutions.

If he could do it alone, there wouldn't be any need for people to head those institutions. For instance, he's the minister of petroleum, so we will blame him for everything that goes wrong in that subsector.

A youth leader of PDP in Adamawa, Ikamu Hamidu Kato, has been sentenced to two years in prison for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and his secretary Boss Mustapha. - News Report

Mee:

This is Wicked tyranny and oppression. The bloodthirsty killer tyrant @MBuhari is absolute evil! God destroy him! Ilahee Ameen

Dear Friends, in a "democracy" an opposition politician is sentenced to two years in prison for exposing the monstrous evilness of #TyrantBuhari and his crony. Do not be deceive this is not a democracy, this is authoritarian despotism.

And unfortunately, the opposition PDP is also totally useless. The total uselessness of PDP as an opposition party has lead us to this because of their cowardice to confront a genocidal tyrant. They are scared of the bloodthirsty killer #Buhari.

You are right Mr President can't be everywhere, but what you are saying is essentially the same thing that I am saying.

These people heading critical institutions are answerable only to Mr President. He is the only one that can fire them if they fail to deliver.

Shut up, it is not scripted. It is true news.

You are spending your life promoting a human right abuser, a dictator, an enemy of democracy.

Does it matter to you that you are laying a bad foundation for the future of your children? They will place a curse on your memory when they realise that you contributed to this decay.

Tinubu, buhari et al will take their family members abroad, but you and your family will rot here. No abroad for you. So, you will eat the reward of the evil you are promoting today

Why didn't the DSS do the same thing under Jonathan?

That's because DSS receives instructions from the person at the top.

Small time, you will say, attack on protesters by the police and soldier at Lekki tollgate happened without buhari's knowledge.

Small time, you will say sparing of bandits and kindly treatment given to Boko haram are without buhari's knowledge.

I won't be surprised if you say the haunting of igboho for not committing any crime and the kidnapping of Nnamdi Kanu all happened without buhari's consent.

Only an irresponsible citizen will reason like you

THE SENTENCE DOESN'T CORRELATE WITH THE REMORSEFULNESS EXHIBITED. IS THIS SHARIA OR SOME MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE AND DISCRETION?
