The longer the nozzle pipe has nothing to do with your fuel being not complete

No one is going to pump air for you except there's no fuel in the underground tank

Your points are not concise and accurate

Well done. Now, can someone shed more light into how exactly the last scan is done and how to catch them? A new thread won't be bad.

Especially the one where there is a "switch-over" of power.

This your explanation hard o
Most of what is written there can only be detected by an experienced person, probably someone who has worked as a fuel attendant previously.
I don't know how I want to know when air is being pumped into my car since I don't live in the tank.
A long nozzle not emptying completely makes sense, but how do I prevent that?
Cut the nozzle to get the remaining fuel?

If metre is adjusted to dispense lesser than what is obtainable, how do we know?

If an old price is recalled, will it automatically reflect on the screen?

These are simply methods used in scamming us and not solutions
You can prevent fraud by learning from the wisdom of (illiterate) taxi drivers. Those guys hardly buy petrol directly into the tank for fear of being cheated. Instead, they buy into a container and later pour into the car. The fraudulent attendant is aware that the driver knows the 4-litre mark on his container and will dare not try his dirty tricks. Those drivers only buy directly into tank at trusted filling stations. So if possible buy only at stations heavily patronized by okadas and taxi drivers.

Honesty, fuel attendants are big cheats. There's this small gallon I buy fuel for gen in. It does not cost more than 1000k (around 950 something) in filling it up. I went to buy fuel one day and after filling up, the bill came to 1,380.....This is a gallon i fill up every single day. I started arguing with the useless attendant and she was soo rude and disrespectful, yes it's just about 400 naira difference and the money was not the issue, it was the cheating and disrespect from the attendant. I never bought fuel from there again.

Nice post but your No 3 and 4 points are smartly daft, he doesn’t add up, It’s an assumption and people’s perception, you can get more info from your friend who is a manager.

This has happened to me before at MRS Ojota.... Those guys (attendants) are thieves. The one selling fuel for me was distracting me with one stupid gist while another went to stop the engine. At the end I paid 5k to get 3k fuel.... Eversince when buying fuel I will come out and stand in front of the engine before they even start selling..

There is no evidence that using a mobile phone next to petrol may spark an explosion. The science is “not” there.

From page 1 to page 2, no one countered this narrative on mobile phone radiation-petrol explosion? No science student on Nairaland? This is sad!

Test for Non-Science kids on Nairaland:
Pour a bit of petrol in a cup.
Set a mobile phone to auto answer
Place the phone over the cup.
Go to safe distance and call that mobile phone from another phone.
Any explosion!

.... mythbusters to the rescue

Nice write up. But I just want to point out that using a mobile phone next to petrol does not necessarily cause an explosion. It’s theoretically possible but not proven in practice.

The chances of that explosion happening is very remote.

I hope you can take a cue and burst this myth.

Cheers

You have said nothing OP.
Fuel station will cheat mostly by under dispensing, this is done by tweaking the fuel meter to dispense less fuel per litre.
Some meters will dispense 0.8lrt, 0.7lrt,0.6....for 1lrt.

Your number 3 and number 5 is misleading. It's not possible to recall last sales and start fueling again from there. It automatically starts from zero. You might have been duped before, but this one is not possible on any machine.

Number 5 is wrong as well. You can't sell air of 3k while you sell fuel of 7k to make it 10k. Selling of air mostly happen with a faulty machine or fuel in the tank about hitting the destock while the manager is unaware and the attendant quickly play tricks on the customer. You can't purposely sell air after programming or starting the machine once you have enough in the tank and your machine works good.

I am more curious as to why you guys assume we all live amongst hoodlums.

We don’t burn people in this part of the world. That is reserved for you guys in Amukoko, Ijegun, Ilaje, Mushin, Ijeshatedo, Agege…etc lipsrsealed

Best comment ever. Generally all of us In alimosho burn people daily. Even if they steal pure water we burn. We also live in caves and use electricity only on Christmas day. Our family members on the island or any other part apart of Lagos state are given presidential welcomes anytime they return home.
We raise them on our shoulders as we parade the streets singing uzobu eyinba eyin. They are our heroes come home.

Always remember to tip your fuel attendant, you'll always get the best service, the salary is very small.

With time they'll be directing you the premium pump.

You guys need to be careful, some of this fuel attendants are greedy people, when making payment with POS always make sure you double check the amount typed in, instead of #6,000 some of them will just put #60,000. If you eventually find out, they'll say it's mistake. This happened to a friend of mine, he doesn't receive alert on his phone, so he didn't know what they had done, it was later in the week that he need to pay for something online and found out that he had insufficient funds. So he requested for his Bank statement, and it was discovered that the fuel attendant had scanned him, he reported the matter thought and hot his money back. The attendant said it was a mistake. But it's not true, that's the style they use especially if they observed l you and see that this guy is well packaged. Be careful

To save yourself of the stress and complexity of this post, ensure you pay keen attention to the meter display screen once it begins to read from zero you are safe.

When they recall let's say #1000 the meter will begin to read from #1000.

We once ran a petrol business and I have certain basic knowledge of the meter and all.
The last attendant that wanted to defraud me ended up losing.
I wanted to buy #3000 and he did not reset the meter and I allowed him, he had started dispensing when I call his attention to why he didn't start afresh and he denied it saying that he did, at that point, I told him to stop.
When I explained how much the previous customer bought and how he was supposed to drop the nozzle and input my price which he didn't do any, he apologized and started afresh. He dispensed fresh #3000 fuel for me for oga no vex.

Number 3 is the most famous money spinner for fuel attendants. They are so good at it that you won't even know what hit you.
