AlexBells: I’m not disputing that in any political structure there will always be a tussle for power amongst the players. I think we have both agreed that SW will likely adopt a system with significant resemblance of the textbook parliamentary form. This answers to the political system that will be prevalent. I asked a question on the type of economic system that will be adopted. Kindly answer! |

lionshare:The future of South West economy for now is uncertain, first you will need a figure like the Sterlin of Russia a hard and revolutionary leader, of all the region south west has bigger job to do to get it right thankfully enough you have food that your populace can eat while the exceptional talents concentrate on solving the problem. First you need to put China out of your borders by decongestion of Lagos of Igbos, this I believe should be through a memorandum of understanding with the Igbo country and you will have to forgo Lagos for good, by closing down lagos port and building a new port in Ondo. Closing lagos port will have a riple effect and you will still need to barn some imports but that will put your economy and society into so much pressure it is expected. Why open the ports in Ondo or Itsekiri, Ondo and Itsekiri will be the closest western port to the Igbos, the Igbos having a separate country which I doubt will not be Biafra that we know will have sea access but not enough for our import and export needs, we will make some western ports a port of call towards AlaIgbo abd there shall be joint initiatives in policing the waters. This joint initiative will create a semblance of west African union closer to European union. With Lagos put of the picture as an economic power but just a luxury state for the super rich, Ondo and Ibadan will pick up only then can you decide your type of economy, currently your economy is that of communist China. You think Igbos are your problem but China is, it is only few countries that can overcome the temptation of China and there are willing Igbo traders available to be used by China. I believe Igbo country will even readily work with you in decongestion of Lagos as far as you will import our finished goods and we import your food, other forms of both civilisation can thrive individually |

AlexBells: Your competition mindset towards Yoruba makes you put the two most competitive tribes together...always having the mentality that all other tribes should be under them in all things. No society grows that way. We have 3 major ethnic groups and 256 ethnic groups in Nigeria....you could have expanded your write-up and write generally about the advantages or strengths of three major ethnics group ....but an average Igbo person always has the mindset of competing with Yoruba people since 1957 till date...not until we see ourselves as Nigerian and one big nation....our difference and competitive mindset will keep giving us a setback over national issues... I cum in peace... 1 Like 1 Share |

Oracleforce:I'm a young politician, of all the 300 and so ethnic group in Nigeria only the Igbos and Yorubas are currently vehement in their agitation to leave Nigeria, I don't support secession but I can't reject the right of the people to seek to control their destiny, it will be a waste of time for me to think of Romancing with the North in a situation of post Nigeria, the North has no option they must eventually work with the Igbos but building a friendly relationship with Yorubas is quite important. I hope to be influential in Nigeria and in Biafra and in Igbo Republic, you know the people really threatening the Nigerian state is the Igbo and Yorubas so in a bid to retain Nigeria it is better to Exploit either the rivalry between the Igbos and Yorubas or Exploit friendships between the two. The simple logic is if the Igbos and Yoruba wish to continue our rivalry then we should all stay in Nigeria also if we want to continue our friendship we should still stay in Nigeria otherwise Nigeria breaks and I still fancy a diplomatic Relationship with the Yorubas I'm still experimenting to know whether friendship or healthy rivalry works better, if you read well my last paragraph you should know that I care about all of Nigeria. |

lionshare:The greatest mistake South west made was running a socialist system in a capitalist Nigeria that's what stalled development in South West and you can attest to the fact that Lagos the most viable state in Nigeria and west is a capitalist economy. I kept telling my Yoruba friends that Awolowo made a very great mistake, by instituting free education in the west and other free pecs, look resources are scarce and when you make education free you only mortgage the future. Education materials are costly, teachers are expensive to keep and the resources is in the hands of the state, I know then it was western Nigeria and Later it could be western Nigerian Republic but the west does not have enough sophistication yet to run a socialist economy. Look at Russia, China is a pretender to be a communist state. If you look very well, western Nigeria states have the highest debts in Southern Nigeria this grossly as a result of this socialist outlook to life and in a bid to make life a lot free citizens becomes too entitled. Socialism is the hight of Succesful capitalism, it is a stage, you don't just jump to socialism if you do so at the long run you will be forced to jump back at capitalism and the circle continues, although countries like Luxembourg is not a socialist state their level of advancement makes available socialist atmosphere. South West country or as a part of Nigeria should aspire for Capitalism maybe for the next 50 years, you don't just be a socialist country when you don't even have the capacity to produce shoes for up to 40% of your population, or you think the world is an extension of your socialist domain |

OutOfContext:It is not a joke, Nollywood is our own, your own movie industry has a name, we had always been accommodating with Nollywood, Remember Omotola, Remeber Desmond Elliot now funke Akindele, we are nationalistic in approaches, even stars like Iniedo, Messi Johnson who are not Igbos were always accommodated |

AlexBells: From our interactions so far you have agreed that the SW region if it becomes a country will likely practice a parliamentary system of government & also have a socialist economic system. This implies that your initial assertion of individualism is invalid logically. Therefore I can put to you that from antecedents the SW is more team-oriented than any other group in Nigeria. Ideally the best of us should lead the rest of us. Only individuals who’ve proven their mettle should be trusted with the responsibility of taking decisions for the collective. The SW has shown times and times over that it’s puts the interests of the group above that of individuals and this ideology is what creates its political & economic systems. |
Re: Sports And Politics Proves Igbos Team Inspired While Yorubas Are Individualistic by AlexBells(m): 11:49am On Aug 09, 2021 |
lionshare:You keep putting words into my mouth, I never said South west shall be a parliamentary, i said south west shall be a unitary confederation with a constitution. I also said you will assume that a socialist economy is the best for you until you practice it and swim in debt. I said for a start there shall be much expected chaos and the first 50 years of statehood post Nigeria outht to be experimental. So I don't know where you are picking your conclusion from, you are on the same school of thought of the people who has a certain outlook of their euphoric country like my fellow Igbos who pays little attention to pragmatism but believes and approach Biafra on the ground that Biafra will be a miracle. |
Re: Sports And Politics Proves Igbos Team Inspired While Yorubas Are Individualistic by lionshare: 12:21pm On Aug 09, 2021 |
AlexBells: I am not putting words in your mouth. Its a fact that from SW antecedents they are likely to be parliamentarian & socialist in both political & economic systems. Therefore any group that have such antecedents cannot be said to be individualistic....I hope you get my narrative now. YOUR assertion of individualism is WRONG. As for my personal opinion of the fate of a SW republic! I think the discourse here is not about that, I have not opined any personal opinion thus far and I do not intend to. My goal is simply to correct your assertion on individualism. |
Re: Sports And Politics Proves Igbos Team Inspired While Yorubas Are Individualistic by AlexBells(m): 12:40pm On Aug 09, 2021 |
lionshare:Your assumptions while I respect it is not factual, south west is a traditional monarchy of multi kingdoms, approaching the aspect of a Mordern state is different, by tradition you are not a parliamentary people you are a monarchy, you can only think of the government system that can work given your history and in this case a parliamentary system can not work in Yorubaland you might think it should, well I don't think it can work whether by theory or practice. First is the Ooni of Ife going to be head of State?, then you elect someone else to be the head of government, instead of that I would think the current state in the country shall be abolished and traditional kingdoms take over as states, where these kings can handle state police while the central structure handles the army, I can't really see a situation whereby the Ooni of Ife shall be the head of state while every other traditional rulers cede their authority to him that's how UK works. Chill there are many reality that will unfold as these whole separation roots you will see many power shift and ideological shift dont think becuase Yorubas monarch are docile in big and complex Nigeria will mean they will remain docile in a smaller and homogenous Oduduwa Republic, the powers of these monarchs must be cut or you go the way of true monarchy. Just don't shape the Republic now, evolve and be free first, even the temperaments of an average yoruba will change once you leave Nigeria to your own country you will become more responsible |
