resale value of corolla na scam.

A Tokunbo corolla is 2.6. Nigerian used is 1.5

900 minus

Tokunbo Mazda6/Mazda3 Is 1.6 Nigerian used is 850k

750 minus.

Who really lose?

If I buy a Corolla 2.6m today, how much will naija used cost in 2yrs time...that's what is important.
Tokunbo Corolla that was 1.7/1.8m two years ago is now naija used of 1.6m today

Bolt is paying, but I don't know about uber and I don't care. Don't delve into uber as a newbie to ehailing and a newbie to Lagos, else you chop konkiri. Since you've made up your mind to sell your car and start the business you're well aware will net you sure 200k monthly, go ahead and sell it. Then save up from that business and buy a small Kia Rio or Honda city as time goes on. Both are less than 900k. You'll realize you have 2 businesses running and have an alternative to fall back on if need be. Ehailing is not running.

Are Honda City parts readily available like the Civic and Accord counterparts?

Any EX- Moove drivers here plz.

Assuming I start working for moove
Then along the line I drop the car after not being able to meet up.
Not long after I get another car and registers it on my Uber account, same as which I used for Moove.
Will my weekly payment still go to Moove or will Uber now start paying to my own bank account?

Am trying to remove sentiments, attachments and perception from this discourse And focus on reality and hard facts.

U may say it's ur preference but give me valid reasons lets compare notes.
For me, A sound tokunbo 2006 corolla is better than a brand new Innoson Connect for ehailing in the long run.
If u r looking at short term, which means u dispose ur Innoson when it can no longer hold and buy another one, then u end up spending more cos I wouldn't spend 3m-4m maintaining my tokunbo corolla in 3yrs.

Let me gist u, I lived in a south south state between 2005 and 2011 midway during my stay d state govt launched brand new 07/08 Chevrolet Aveo for transportation, and I was privileged to get one.
The car started falling apart in less than 6months, with no spare parts support and competent mechanics with knowledge of the car, d problem only compounded. We managed to get parts from Lagos but In the end, the car was just not strong enough for the rigours of transportation. Mine is still parked in d mechanic workshop till today. And for many others that owned the car they all parked up within 3-4yrs. I don't think anybody that used that car for transportation completed the payment before the car packed up...that's a state that has 80% of roads tarred, no Ijegun or Akute type of road and no Lekki flood type of water.
My brother, ok cloth and shoe from US, France or Italy better pass brand new from naija and china. grin
New engine and gear that cannot last 3yrs and tokunbo engine that can last 5yrs.
New AC compressor that cannot last 3yrs and tokunbo compressor that last 5years?
I prefer the tokunbo.

Do u go into business just to recoup ur capital without making profits?
Or r u hoping that the value of the car after u get ur capital will be ur profit?
In both cases, u must be sure the car will still be standing after 3-4yrs of rgourous use if u hope to make anything tangible out of it thereon, either through continuous usage for the work or resale value.

NB: GIGM using Chinese Buses is in comparison to buying brand new Toyota hummer buses or brand new Peugeot or Mercedes sprinter buses which are 2 or 3 times more expensive. That is not the case here since we are talking about new china/naija and tokunbo toyota which are about the same price.

You just fried yourself with your own points grin

Chevrolet Aveo is not a Chinese product. Chevrolet is American, made by GM motors. Why it was falling apart is what I don't know.

Secondly, GIG could have moved for Toyota Hiace Tokunboh buses (E full Ejigbo). E full Dubai. But no, they are going for locally assembled China buses in Nigeria. Only few transporters are fully Toyota. ABC even has its own assembly plant for its China luxurious buses. There is a reason it's that way.

And I don't know why you keep skipping the point.

Nobody is arguing with you about which is stronger. The Corolla is stronger than anything Innoson would assemble in its category, but economic wise, the Chinese are ever better.

I know a Haulage company. It's like the largest in Nigeria. They started with Tokunboh Volvo trucks from America. Today, they have filled their fleet with HOWO and FAW trucks. You think they don't know Volvo is stronger?

I sell parts for trailers, and 99% would prefer the Chinese knockoffs to their original ones (even when it's available)

I pray you grow bigger to run a transportation fleet. You will understand the fact more clearer.

I rest my case

The corolla people are bowing down for and worshipping, how many of them can really afford to buy original Toyota corolla parts? Brand new knock offs have always been saving us.

I wonder why it doesn't make economic sense to spend about $40 on brake pads, but they prefer to buy it the knockoffs for 3000 naira.

I second this advise.
Except u want to use ehailing as a business where someone drives for u while u pursure other things. Or u want to Drive part time and make money before job or further studies starts and use ur car for other runs.
Don't start dreaming of driving uber from the get go of ur graduation.
I thirded the advice, driving Uber should be out of the picture for now unless after graduating he couldn't secure a reasonable job then he may want to consider Uber.

Well...if d plan is to use it for only 1or2 yrs then Innoson will be prefered. But for long-term usage na Corolla...
u can't compare the strength of 2006 Corolla with 2016 Corolla. Talkless of 2016 Innoson.
If it's for personal use that's a different kettle of fish but for ehailing, narrative will change
Purely ehailing. The Innoson is a better alternative especially if self driven.

I may not recommend for fleet, because of the drivers out there. If they can do it to a 2017 corolla, who be 2020 IVM connect? grin

Offcourse I know Chevrolet isn't Chinese, I am using that example to buttress my point about substandard brand new compared to original tokunbo.

U keep saying there is a reason without saying the reason. The only reason they are buying Chinese is because it's cheaper for them to acquire. Simple. Maintainance is arguable. But in the long run those machines can't last as long as the European, Japanese and american counterparts. So they have to replace them in a short time. Same goes for heavy duty generators. I already made that point clear. The original ones cost twice or three times more.
So if u are talking about economy, its penny wise, pound foolish in d long run.

U have agreed they aren't stronger and I said it's better to do Chinese if u intend to do d business for just a short time. So what are we talking about again.

Sticking to d subject, we r comparing brand new Chinese and tokunbo Toyota of the same price. If those companies could get a good standard tokunbo Toyota hummer bus for the same price the brand new Chinese are going for, I don't think they will choose the Chinese. If they do, they have their reasons probably after a while they give it out on HP to their drivers.

The fact that u sell parts, u should understand what I am saying. People's preference diver because of their purchasing power but the fact is unchanged. You will need minimum two lifespans of that brand new Innosson to compare with a standard Tokunbo Toyota if using it for transportation. So u will spend more if u choose the Innosson in d long run.

Me too, I rest my case. grin

A Brand new Scania luxury bus is nearing 200 million naira now.

The Chinese knockoffs is about less than half the price of the former.

If both are used to carry the same passengers and collect the same fare, by the time the Scania hits 95 million, the China would also hit the same amount to buy another China.

By the time the Scania would hit the next 95 million, the China would have made the money for the Third one

So in the end of the 200 million generated from both brands, One has yielded two more, while the other one just yielded one.

If you really can't see the point with this example, I really don't know what else to type

With the ugly experience I encountered early this year? No!

You know coming from Oshodi towards the MMAI road, if you enter the expr through boladale you can access the MMAI rd easily joining in b4 7&8 b/s But if you enter through other links like Afariogun you won't be able to join the Oworo-Apapa expr Rd again. That's how they've done it now...

So now, it was an unfortunate day for me as construction workers where busy constructing the pavement so there was no other way to join the MMAI Rd unless through that slope that leads under the interchange and then back to the MMAI Rd, while and other interchange takes you back to the Oworo-Apapa Rd and maybe back to Oshodi/Anthony for those going that way. So I tried using that slope leading towards the MMAI Rd that was it ooh... No one-way road sign, nothing at all and as an experience driver and an someone that has understanding of road network couple with an engineering background there is no way you will ever argue with me that slope towards that MMAI Rd is a one-way.

You no police are always on that path, na so everywhere burst o... Unfortunately for me my rider said she was cold so I wind down and wasn't expecting anything of such at all because i was so sure that road is not one-way... Men...those idiots messed up my day. Na 25k I take settle dem collect my motor after much back and front... I just saw it that non of them are reasonable to talk with... Oya na make una charge me to mobile court na, them no gree... They where just dancing around...

2days later a man called on talk radio to complain about that same rd how police are cashing out on that rd with no one-way sign whatsoever...

I gave up more on that very day Nigeria.
I have also fall for their hand , I only pay 5k, after unpaid I see one driver telling them he can only pay 2k because is obvious they are taking advantage of that place
