Also I remember 2012/13 wen Ferguson wanted to wrestle the league back from man city. The big signing he called upon was Van persie. And van persie wonderfully gave him the league (alongside other attack). He didn't call on a good defender to shore up his defence more, he called on attack to bang in more goals. Even pep that is buying defenders anyhow recently, check his rebuilding stage at man city. Na so so attack at first (Bernardo Silva, sterling, sane Jesus etc). It was wen these attack was added to the already strong attack man city had before facing fully defence like Walker, laporte, and so on. There's a reason we came 8th back to back and it's no coincidence that our attack (both midfield and forward) is poor 3 Likes |

kodded:Lol... I swear. That's the first thing that's suppose to be on our club's mind, but na defender dem dey think Chelsea knew that dey needed a striker going into this season. Everyone knew that and they unsurprisingly splashed the cash for a proven striker Arsenal knew that we needed a good Am and attack and everyone knew that. But the first thing we surprisingly splash our cash on is on another defender. Check stat, we conceded one of the least goals in the league and we provide at most 1 or 2 chances per game.(one of the least too) What would any logical club do??... But trust arsenal na... Seems they're not logical |

Jodera2:I like you because you don't just talk but analyse things. I get your point and it makes a lot of sense especially that attack alone could take Liverpool to 3rd but defense wouldn't take them that far. Which I accept. But that's not my point. Also it's not my point that defense is more important than attack. No. Also it's not my point that a team should ignore attack and build their defense. No. My point is that, you need a good attack to win games, but it doesn't guarantee you won't lose, while a good defense ensures you don't lose games. (It's not losing that brings the title). It's like half full Vs half empty. The former ensures short term success (winning games) but it's the latter than ensures long term success (winning the league). Alternatively, look at it this way; A team has both a good attack and a good defense. The attack ensures that they achieve their short term goal- win games, while the defense ensures that they achieve their long term goal- win the league. |

Jodera2:100% on point. My point that year till date.. In fact that's the reason I fell in love with Liverpool.. I wanted Arsenal to follow that model by bringing in a good LW,AM and an hardworking CF who could also score goals like Jota. But they hid the truth by calling them Loserpool I wanted Jota,Zaha,Carrasco,Inaki Williams even Anthony Knockert. Baba in fact you finish the analysis on why attack can push us up. Imagine an attack of Podence,Madison,Martinelli, Pepe,Saka and ESR. With Auba/Laca fighting for CF. |

Spy360:Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate Now what really made me write all those stuff was because you said "for any team rebuilding, you need to rebuild your defence first". I just wade in to show that it's the other way round which is attack first. But I'm really glad we've all finally come to and understanding cos all what you said here is all what I and some others (like Fkhal.ifa, Akinba.hm, Oyinda.mola and others). Thank goodness we've finally come to a very good understanding and all what you said up here is really understood. Our hope is make Arteta just do wetin dey right for diz Tw if not this season will surely be bloody than last |

Fkhalifa:I tell you... I remember arguing in man u thread then how klopp was building a formidable team and showing massive progress but people were looking at the Carling cup final, Uel and UCL final losses to call them loserpool. Now, they're one of the forces to be reckoned with As for the bolded, if arsenal have such players eh, even if we carry holding and chambers as our 5&6, while bellerin and Tierney is manning our fullback positions, I go just know say top 4 sure me. You can imagine how just two 2 quality players just gave us hope for top 4. But now arsenal have signed 3 players, yet we still dey jittery how this season go be Reason why that 50m dey vex me(not necessarily Ben White himself) |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Fkhalifa(m): 9:47pm On Aug 10, 2021 |
Jodera2:The moment I saw Arsenal not addressing the LW......( Auba is a dirty at the wings, Saka for me isn't ready yet to man down that wing for a whole year) AM...(ESR isn't ready yet also to shoulder that responsibility for a whole year) CM...Xhaka too average going forward. I knew it will end it tears again this year, £50M on a defender, honestly, I'll rather call Dino Melayeponous, and Saliba back than spend anything on defense. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Jodera2: 9:57pm On Aug 10, 2021 |
Fkhalifa:Bwahahaha... Which one be Dino melayenous again? Na greek version of Melaye?? What you said is true. While maybe I might agree for saka to even be rotating with Pepe at least. But ESR isn't ready yet to Mann that Am for a whole season. How dey want to kill to kids with adult's responsibility is beyond me. Auba at the wings again na another wahala. We still don't have goal scoring midfielder(s) yet, weak wings and weak Cf(in lacazette). I wonder were the goals will come from for us. To me, we fit manage carry-along xhaka for midfield, but you see scoring and creative Am and at least one scoring and creative winger (either left or right), it's what is really needed at least for now We can then build from there |

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by kodded(m): 11:24pm On Aug 10, 2021 |
Fkhalifa:if arteta can give xhaka a second chance at CM, tell me why will he not give willian another second chance at LW The only attacking position I see us strengthening is AM and so far so good it will be that odeegard boy who couldn't save us against villarel |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Spy360(m): 1:29am On Aug 11, 2021 |
Jodera2:Assuming it is a club in disarray trying to rebuild or a low level club trying to climb up, I think it better to start with rebuilding defense. That doesn't mean one should neglect attack, but more attention should be given first to defense then attack. In fact many teams adopt this approach. Defenders are cheaper and ensure a level of stability when they blend as defense is more team partnership than individual brilliance as opposed to attack. Once that is achieved, focus shifts to adding attackers. A low team wants to survive first, so on a long term basis, it's the defense that ensures that. |

@Jodera2 I see u to be more reasonable and reading to understand before replying a post without much emotions attached to it. The season Arsenal bought Gabriel, do u honestly think what arsenal needed that season was to bring in an attack considering how Mustafi, Kolasinac, Papasthapopulous and the rest of the lot made us lose games from a winning position that season? I mean prior to that season Aubameyang was the joint Golden shoe winner along with Mane and Salah that got loserpool the league. We had attackers doing the scoring and defenders letting us down. In all honesty would u leave Papastha, Mustafi and sometimes unreliable David Luiz to continue in CB while adding more attacking players in Ur team as a coach? I know people want to troll, post all sort of "I told u so" comments because things didn't work out and our attack became poor the following season with our attackers out of form, but I really want to know if it makes any season to have that terrible defence, ignore it and pump in more attacking threat. For u to know how bad those defenders were, the ones that have been shipped out of the club what did they amount to? I do not support the purchase of Ben white this season considering defence should not be our priority now especially when there's been considerable improvement in our defensive game, but then I think having dem Mustafi and sons replaced was the right thing to do that time. The whole Defence wins u league talk came out of this discussion back then....... I don talk say I no go talk this matter again, but I saw Ur reply to spy360 up there and I feel we should just put things into perspective. The funny thing here is ; Jurgen Klopp that most people like to quote changed the entire back line he met at loserpool before he became a legend at the club. The German signed Robertson, Matip, Van Djik and promoted Alexander Trent-Arnold.....Even Pep the senior bros dey spend excessively on defence every year |

BlueRayDick:That season midfield was the priority, we explain alot that no matter how strong your attack or defence is midfield will be the connection and your lifesaver. To score was easy cos auba was in a terrific form he doesn't even need provider to score alot of goals Arsenal keeper won the golden glove with mertersacker and Kos that should tell you midfield of coq and carzola were the key If you can't get pass the midfield tell me how you will get to defense Lfc title winning seasons is another example, vvd was getting the praise but the 3 holding midfielders will press the living shít out of any team. Same with city, the truth is we have accepted it like that but bringing Gabriel purchase again to justify we needing defenders is false |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by BlueRayDick: 6:58am On Aug 11, 2021 |
iamoyindamola: Which season are u referring to exactly? I don't seem to get this story about Coquelin, Carzola, our golden-glove-winning keeper, Kolscienly and Materscaker thingy... I don't follow. You have not disprove the fact that courtesy of Kolasinac, Luiz and Mustafi brain farts we lost or draw considerable amount of matches from winning position the season before we decided to go for Gabriel. As regards Ur midfield talk, we actually got Partey a highly rated midfielder to help solve the central midfield issues. Maybe the club was wrong to think dem Willock and Co would fit into AM after failing to get Aour,......but saying the defence should've been left the way it was is something I will never agree with. The defence was in shambles an it needed urgent attention, the midfield wasn't neglected as we got Partey too. Let's put things into perspective and not get overly emotional here |

iamoyindamola: You know the problem I'm having with you and most people saying Gbariel's addition was unnecessary ? It's short memory! You have forgotten how we come here after each match talking about the "senior clowns" we parade in our backline every match day. We were trolled by rival fans and even our own frustrated fans with this. Now the club listens and tries to sort this out and the next thing you do is say the defence is fair , the midfield should've been sorted forgetting that Partey a celebrated signing was added to our midfield to strengthen it along the way. I know what u are trying to do by asking ho many games gabriel played, but its just a digression when the main discourse; at the time Gabriel was signed did we need to improve our CB options? Certainly, Yes! considering our terrible our defence was the previous season. By the way, let me refresh ur memory on highly rated Mustafi was on this streets to have warranted him and his fellow clowns to stay beyond last season thorrvik55: Jodera: sod09: kokanepyramid: sod09: sod09: sod09: sod09: sod09: 1 Like |

iamoyindamola: I didn't claim he was the priority . It's evident a CB replacement was needed at the beginning of last season ....U implied it in ur post below sod09: We all lamented how bad our CB pairings were .... our posts lamenting is littered all over this thread. U can't turn back now and start saying we should't have gotten a CB when we all agreed our CB's as at the beginning of last deason were piss poor . |
