Armed men suspected to be bandits terrorizing some parts of Katsina State have attacked an Islamic school at Sakkai community in Faskari Local Government Area, abducting at least seven pupils and a teacher. DAILY POST gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday when the armed men invaded the community, shooting sporadically to scare residents away before whisking the victims to a deep forest. The assailants who were said to have attacked the school during an evening lesson are yet to contact the family members of the victims as at press time. When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isa confirmed the incident to DAILY POST. He said the students already closed from lesson before they were attacked and kidnapped. “The bandits were attacking the community before they saw those students and used the opportunity to kidnap them. “Nine of the students were kidnapped but two of them were able to escape”, he added. Like other states in the Northern part of the country, Katsina has witnessed several security issues recently. Despite efforts by the Federal Government to curtail the trend, the bandits have continued to wreak havoc in many parts of the state. https://dailypost.ng/2021/08/19/bandits-break-into-islamiyya-school-in-katsina-abduct-pupils-teacher/ |

Faithful007:Now you have chosen to speak as the United States Constitution and arms sales code. Which US contractor is servicing the Iranian Fleet of US fighter jets which has remained air worthy for the past 45 years? Rules, codes are meant to serve as a guide but in cases of unprecedented novel circumstances the outcome of such laws become very unpredictable even by the most learned jurist. We just have to watch and see. 1 Like |

The Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, in Nigeria has reshuffled its leadership and Shura council over the mass surrender of Boko Haram fighters to the Nigerian Military. According to a PRNigeria report, the leaders were sacked following a directive from the Headquarters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, for failing to sustain the reunification of ISWAP and Boko Haram fighters, after the death of Abubakar Shekau. Mr Aba-Ibrahim who replaced Abbah-Gana was appointed as the new ISWAP leader while Malam Bako, Abdul-Kaka a.k.a Sa’ad, Abu Ayun and Abba Kaka, were appointed as the new members of the Shura Council for the ISWAP. Other appointments include Muhammed Mustapha who was appointed as the New Amir of Marte, Muhammed Malumma, Muhammed Maina and Abubakar Dan- Buduma- who were to maintain their former positions as Commanders. It is unclear if it represents a change in strategy or a momentary attempt to capture the goodwill of more fighters willing to lay down their arms. Impeccable sources with deep knowledge of the terrorist activities told PRNigeria that the ISWAP were forced to reshuffle its cabinets due to the sorry state of the organisation in terms of desertions, depletion of fighting militants. The massive surrender has also thrown confusion and apprehension within the camps of the ISWAP terrorists in Kirta, Wulgo, Sabon Tumbu, Jubularam, Kwalaram, Sigir, Kayowa and Kurnawa, as many other fighters were left with the option to either surrender or flee from the Lake Chad. The source told PRNigeria that the large-scale and heavy bombardment campaign targeting infrastructure, armouries, camps and high valued locations of the terrorists had forced the terrorists to go into hiding while plunging hunger and hardship living conditions in the terrorists’ camps. The source said: “The massive surrender of Boko Haram fighters is largely due to loss of confidence, maltreatment, and growing insurrections between the ISWAP and Member of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād or JAS after the death of their leader Abubakar Shekau. “Many JAS fighters have been arrested and incarcerated in an ISWAP prison at Tumbum Kayowa for committing various crimes while those that were former Commanders and Amir’s were reduced as Junior fighters and marabout slaves within the ISWAP enclaves. “Some JAS Commanders and fighters would prefer to renounce their participation in terrorism campaign and surrender to Nigerian troops than remained with ISWAP to continue facing humiliation in the camps,” he concluded. https://dailynigerian.com/report-iswap-reshuffles/ |

Salatavor:This would be my last response on this. Go and clear your doubts on my write-up elsewhere because what you're saying is simply wrong. Iran had trained technicians (a lot of pilots and support engineers were first trained in the US) before the revolution and after the sanctions, they had to strip other aircraft to keep an amount serviceable, and also conduct shady deals to obtain some parts illegally. They employed hostage abduction to get the US to deliver some systems to them. Hardly any other country has enough qualifed personnel currently to maintain the Tucanos completely. Also as I earlier said, it is not worth it. The Tucanos don't have any advanced tech for anyone to risk sanctions for. They're not used to project power. Side note: Even when offered Chinese aircraft, they preferred to keep on maintaining the Tomcats. Superiority. 4 Likes |

The Police Service Commission says it has set up an in-house panel to study in detail the documents presented by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which indicted the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari. Kyari, a former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force, was alleged to have been bribed by a suspected internet fraudster, Abbas Ramon, also known as Hushpuppi. Daily Trust reports that immediately after his suspension, he was probed by a Police investigative panel set up by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, and headed by Joseph Egbunike, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police. However, a fresh panel that was set up by the Police Service Commission is being headed by Barr. Tijani Mohammed, Director, Department of Police Discipline in the commission. The panel was inaugurated by the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Ismaila. Daily Trust |

https://humanglemedia.com/nigerias-secret-programme-to-lure-top-boko-haram-defectors/ Read the whole article and let's have a discussion about it by 9pm. Personally, I believe the sulhu program is a great idea to end the conflict but those who played key roles in attrocities shouldn't be left unpunished. The program should be targeted at those more moderate among them. It would definitely be extended to some of the monsters among them in the initial phase so as to lure more to take the option. It is the price we have to ensure the war ends soon. The war has destroyed so much lives, its time to sacrifice for peace. 5 Likes |

I wish stories like this could be broadcasted across Nigeria, maybe those about to make the same mistakes will have a rethink. A tour of the cities, towns and villages affected by the insurgency and also life in the IDP camps should also be broadcasted. Movies should be made from these events. In trurh, all aspects of the Nigerian society should have learnt from this war. Bad governance was the spark Brutality from security and law enforcement forces ignited and is still fueling the crisis Stupidity on the part of the people also contributed. Unfortunately, we are seeing something similar starting to play out in the northwest . 2 Likes |
