Captain8:The last time I checked, the LARGEST indigenous OIL and gas exploration companies are SEPLAT and AITEO owned by Two different Igbo men. Among the top-tier Banks in Nigeria (FUGAZ) IGBO ,Igbo control U,A and Z.. Go and read about U Brittania, an oil exploration company owned by Uju Ifejika in Nigeria, Ghana and other countries.. Let's take a look at Top 20 richest Nigerians... Dangote is enjoying Government support and monopoly. Femi Otedola is highly indebted to Banks just like Jimoh Ibrahim.. Mike Adenuga is on a low profile In the Top 20 richest Nigerians, Yorubas represented are: 1.Mike Adenuga 2.Femi Otedola 3.Jimoh Ibrahim (Assets taken over by AMCON bcoz his debt appreciated above his assets value) 4. Oba Otudeko : His Honeywell etc will soon be taken over by AMCON for being heavily indebted to FIRST BANK, Eco bank etc 5.Folarunsho Alakija 6. FOLA ADEOLA (GTBank) Hausa-Fulani has Theophilus Danjuma Aliko Dangote Mohamed Indimi Rabiu Urhobo has Igho sanomi Igbo has the rest |

Liebermantic:When we say there are no Ijos in Rivers state, it isn't bound by sentiments. It's actually the agreement when Bayelsa was created out of Rivers. Since Abacha couldn't create a Port-Harcourt state for us, he agreed to the creation of an Ijaw majority state while Rivers became an Igboid majority state. It was similar to the suggestion Ghaddafi gave Abacha about partitioning Nigeria into North for Muslims and South for Christians. After Bayelsa was created, the agitation for Port-Harcourt state died down. Looking back, the chief instigators for Port-Harcourt State where mainly those from Ikwerre, Kalabari, Bonny/Opobo and Etche. Any wonder why the likes of Kalabari and Bonny fought toothlessly to bite Ijo hands off when they added them to the Bayelsa state map. The only group who should have stayed behind where the Nembe/Brass. But because the bulk of their sons facilitated the Ijo dominance in the old Rivers, they were dragged along to Bayelsa. Today, most Nembe are regretting their actions and if they have another chance would have remained in Rivers state. But it's too late now. Ogoni on the other hands have agitated for their own Bori state, but unfortunately Abacha didn't agree to it and now, there are still stuck with us. Bayelsa for Ijoids and Port-Harcourt (Now Rivers) for Igboids. This was the mantra during state creation. 3 Likes |

Captain8: Many people on this forum fail to understand that it's very difficult to state where one ethnic homelands start and end. There are always areas of overlap. From what you guys are describing with both parties giving plausible reasons why they own them, these communities appear to be an overlap of Ijaw/Igbo ethnic homelands. |

PROUDIGBO: This is very funny you know? By the way, how did the Ijaws make these cities to embrace Ijaw identity ,a minority status within Nigeria over an Igbo Status which is a majority status? |
Re: Ndoki, Bonny, Opobo by Eastlink(m): 5:27pm On Aug 20, 2021 |
oyatz:Very funny I tell you. But the truth is that Ijos were quite smarter than the Igbos during the first republic. They played their politics right in the 1960’s and used that opportunity to cement their feet in the Niger-Delta, with the help of a few of their sons who formed a political alliance with the NPC of Ahmadu Bello. While many like the Kalabari and Opobo dominated the NCNC, those like Dappa Biriye from Finima was in opposition and used his NDC (Niger Delta Congress) to give undue support to the NPC, and was rewarded with love from the north. In fact, the Niger Delta Congress was the first southern party to go into political alliance with NPC. And you won't blame them as they wanted a state for all Ijos of which the NPC agreed to give them if they were elected into power in 1958. The NPC only pushed them aside temporarily, when the NCNC swept the riverine areas of Bayelsa and Rivers with the help of pro-Niger-Deltan NCNC members. And thus, knowing that the NCNC won majority votes, the NPC which had majority seat in parliament went into political alliance with Zik. That alliance was short-lived as every region went into political battle with themselves. While Ahmadu bello was sponsoring Akintola in the west, the likes of Awolowo was sponsoring Joseph Tarka in the middle-belt. When Ahmadu Bello said he’ll drop the Quran in the Atlantic ocean, he was being paradoxical. It wasn't about Islam. He meant he had allies in the south. And among those allies was a young Issac Boro who was mentored by Dappa Biriye. Isaac Boro was always in communication with Balewa. In fact, when Balewa was murdered he was agonized and quickly began his secessionist movement to break his part of Bayelsa out of the eastern region, feeling that the Igbos would dominate Nigeria after taking out the north, whom Boro called the saviour of the Ijos. Surprisingly the bulk of those 1000 youths Boro used in causing his 12 day insurrection in the east, were Ijos who were born and bred in Ghana. And it wasn't a surprise when during the civil war, Boro used that opportunity to cleanse the Niger-Delta of pro-Igbo sympathizers and land grabbed independent Niger-Delta city states like Bonny, Opobo, Kalabari, Nembe, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Andoni etc into his Ijaw land. He would have done much more had he not died in the hands of Adekunle who was concerned about Boro’s personal vendetta in the war, which was turning the battle in the riverine into a genocide instead of a civil war to unite the country. 1 Like 1 Share

Eastlink: Most Nigerians are goons hence the shithole called Nigeria is known as basket of fools. In 1959 election, Niger Delta Congress won only one seat. The winner was Milford Okilo from Sagbama. How did winning one seat give NPC an advantage in eastern region? The fight for political survival was pitched in western region and middle belt district of northern region. By 1963, western region has lost Midwestern region which become the home of NCNC. In the above crap, you were correct about the use of Ijaw peeps by the northern political elites to rob the currecnt generation of so-called Ijaw of their birth right. Did you realize that PIB was driven by Ijaw in the 60s. You cannot eat your cake and have it. As of today, Ijaw kids have better percentage chance to die of cancer than their northern counterparts. While Ijaw peeps battle crude oil pipelines, the northern kids drive and jet around with expensive automobiles and jetliners. 1 Like 1 Share |

Idiko1:And what is bad about naming his kids Yoruba names? Zik wrote the Benin angle which looks political if you consider his first biography about himself which talks about his Onitsha Igbo heritage. Some historians feel he was trying to spread his political tentacles in the south with his political gimmicks. First was naming his kids Yoruba names and second was the Benin origin angle. Don't forget Zik was a politician and politicians can do anything to win votes. Again, put some respect on that name Zik, because no Igbo man dead or alife has accomplished what he's attained. |

And even Nigeria herself knows that As for the non Igboid territories, we're open to negotiations, even though we might never budge on the Ijo city states of Karabarị and Okirika and also the tribes of the Cross river Valley. Niger Delta Congress lost its deposit in the regional election as no member of the turncoat group took a seat at Enugu. The bolded spits on your face. How goofy can such a question come from a person who claimed Ijaw? The so-called papa of Ijaw, Edwin Clark, has cried river because of the recent PIB bill. Ijaw will ever regret the despicable act of sabotage due to brainwash leveled on them by the northern region political elites. |

cheruv: You seems very patriotic abouth your ethnic group but you are likely to be a young man and quite naive about the issues of secession, creation of new countries, border issues and international politics surrounding such matters. In international politics, the greatest factor that strengthen your claim to disputed territories is the political authority you exercise over the territories, it is far superior to 'languages or ancestries' of the present inhabitants of the territories. Are you currently exercising political authority over Opobo or Bonny? Was there ever a time , these cities were parts of your kingdom/Empire? How did you come into the conclusion that they are your territories? Read about many hotly disputed territories by different sovereign countries in the past and present e.g Kashmir in India Vs Pakistan Vs China, Jerusalem in Israel Vs Palestine, Western Sahara, Ceuta and Melila between Spain Vs Morocc, Brittany, Nagorno-Karabakh Region between Azaibanjain and Armenia etc |

Idiko1: You just proved that we are all related. Communities that live close to each other for centuries eventually become related. Many of these tribes/city States would have merged into one super ethnic group if Nigeria is operating a merit based system and there's no need for Tribal identities to get certain political and/or economic privileges. |

The original territory known as Palestine included Israel and Jordan. As for most areas you mentioned in the post, the colonial powers which had no interest of the people played a major role in the political saga found today. |
