I'm sorry you have to suffer this, I guess it's how your system is. Your body cells can not maintain homeostasis with the level of sugar gotten from garri. It's a sad one I think, given that garri is a must be food in every Nigerian home.

Not every species of cassava has cyanide compounds. Those who have, canbe carefully processed to make their garri completely harmless. e.g Fermentation and adding red oil. Ur error comes from hasty generalization. U conclude garri is bad since u react adversely to it. The common adversity in eating garri, is sight dimming over prolonged periods and in advancing age. Other than that, ur symptoms are quite unique to only u and shud not be used as a yardstick to assess the edibility of garri.

OP know your body system. I like garri and every other food . That's because my body system can accept it well. I don't have favorite food either. But I can't eat Okra or any other draw soup outside cos I don't trust the cook. They can easily mix it with catarrh ....and you won't know.
Some can eat beans at night and be very comfortable, but few can't eat beans at night while others can't eat it all. Just know what's good for you. You are just allergic to my precious garri (oh garri I love you ). One man's meat is another man's poison .

Again, I don't even eat foreign rice that much, we have a local dealer that sources it directly from the farm, so we buy from there. Even when I travel outside the country, we buy directly from farmer's market cos it is cheaper there. So you see, your point is not entirely valid, though it makes sense.
