Two days ago, we had power issues from the transformer in my area. By yesterday afternoon, the NEPA guys were there to fix it. When they finished and left, the light was restored for about 2hours and later went off. Around 12:20am today, while everyone were sleeping, the power was restored but with a very high voltage that I was awoken by 'explosions' in my house as appliances were being blown out. I got up and switched off the sockets. The light didn't last for more than 5 seconds.
Throughout the night, I lost my sleep due to the sudden interruption. I was also worried about what must have blown in the house. I woke up this morning to check my appliances using the generator.

After running a check, I discovered the followings:
1. My wife's iPhone charger had got burnt
2. About 5 lighting in my house have also got burnt
I felt relieved as that was all I have noticed thus far. My music studio area (I don't make mistake in that area) was s cured. My TV as well.


My question is this: this could have been worse than it is. I am sure so many persons will be counting their losses by now. Even with some protectors in place in my house against power surge, I still had my losses. If this had been worse than this, can one file a case against the power distribution company? What are the chances?

NB: I know in Nigeria and as Nigerians we love leaving everything for God while we are dying, so, I don't want anyone advising such cases should be left for God.
