The alternative is for government to force discos to reduce prices further...which means that government would have to increase the subsides it pays to discos to keep the prices low...which in this era of low revenue and so on, is not possible.

Also costs are not static. They rise. Any subsidy payment would have to rise to keep up with rising production costs....which means government would eventually have to take more loans, or raise taxes drastically to pay for the subsidy.

Buhari is not a good leader, but the fact is, we need to run power profitably to make it better. Our not running power profitably for decades is why we had power problems, even before Buhari came along in 1984, and again in 2015.
