mktinsight: MRO business requires a very efficient supply chain and highly skilled personnel which can be difficult to come by. In Nigeria I expected all the airline operators to come together and fund an MRO as a joint venture with may be 5% stake owned by FG. Onyema needs to consider breaking down his business interest in aviation into 2 or three companies. One company to manage domestic operations , another for regional and another for international. He can combine regional and international into one company. Combining all three into one company (Airpeace) makes him lose focus as the kind of competition and politicking needed to compete on the regional routes (Ecowas and rest of africa) is different from what you face in the domestic market. On the domestic side they pretty much doing well and only need to work on improving their on-time performance and modernizing their fleet. Its time to pay attention to the regional market particularly west and central africa . |

mktinsight:Aero contractors was and is a successful company that is up to 40 years old. It changed its business model coupled with cecilia ibru's involvement and poor government policies that has killed almost all airlines. Allen Onyema's airpeace has a lot to learn from the over 30 airlines that went under. Financial prudence and discipline is one of the few ways to survive the ruthless aviation sector in Africa. That is one of the things that has kept ethiopian airlines strong and growing. Kenya airways was financially reckless. 4 Likes |

FG OPENS ULTRA-MODERN DIGITAL LEATHER/INDUSTRIAL HUB IN THE SOUTH EAST The Buhari Administration on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 inaugurated an Ultra-modern Digital Leather Industrial Hub at Osile village, Ogbunike by Nkwelle Ezunaka Junction, Oyi LG, Anambra state in fulfillment of its promise to equip a one-stop-centre that will house an ultra-modern industrial shoe making hub with cutting edge technology, aimed at further boosting the non-oil sector of the nation’s economy. According to Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo who unveiled the project, the complex is a “one-stop-shop digital leather and industrial hub” which represents the “nerve centre of the Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Nigeria”. Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano described the complex which was jointly equipped by the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government as “Nigeria’s most modern Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) complex”. The ultra-modern industrial shoe-making hub has cutting edge technology with capacity (from start to finish) to produce shoes that compare at all levels with shoes made in Europe. The leather cluster has about 2,000 stores and almost 30,000 MSMEs operating there with a potential for monthly production of 96,000 shoe soles, 44,000 slippers, 44,000 shoes and 22,000 boots; as against the hitherto monthly production of 200 - 400 shoes. The complex also houses several agencies that play critical roles in the industrial sector of the country. These are Bank of Industry (BOI), Nigerian Standard Organisation (NSO), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), and Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Clinics for Viable Enterprises. 2 Likes

Whatever makes some people think that Ethiopia can run an MRO with less-educated citizens than Nigeria with better-educated citizens. They need to engage cleaners now to begin cleaning the floors at least twice daily. It would take at least one week of cleaning before polishing can be applied to the tiles. Also, it helps to train the janitors on how to constantly clean a buys airport with people walking around every minute. It further helps whoever is the janitors' manager at the airport to designate and supervise who cleans what and where before the airport opens to the public. 6 Likes 1 Share

afube: You have to situate this dragging of Anambra oils wells by Kogi in the context of the anti-Igbo Nigerian political-economy, and the envy and hate some groups of people have for Igbos! It's mind-boggling that the useless national boundary commission is still in the process of delineating the boundary between the two states...a process that started during the GEJ admin'! This should tell you they know the oil wells belong to Anambra, but the wickedness in their hearts wouldn't allow them to admit it! If there was incontrovertible proof the wells are located in Kogi state, trust that they would have told you years ago! 7 Likes |

abnot: Financial prudence is very key. Aviation is a single digit margin business and requires extremely careful planning and management of load factor costs and step by step growth. A lot of Nigerian operators underestimate the vagaries of fuel prices and maintenance costs and jump in by buying cheap old gas guzzling planes without calculating the future scenario of mounting expenses. Currently the only impressive operator is Ibom Air which has the right sized relatively new crj 900 jets on limited routes. They followed this up with buying a220 fuel efficient airbus jets recently. |

Fact is that Anambra has the largest oil and gas in SE region. Those 11 oil wells in Anambra are more productive and more are coming because Anambra has boundaries with Rivers and Delta states. Imo state has little oil wells, those 43 oil wells are in Rivers state and shall remain there because the oil wells rightly belongs to Rivers state. Stop fooling yourself because of envy and frustration. Face you glorified village called Owerri. Yes I live in the beautiful city of Awka, that's where we are making things happen. Meanwhile millions of your Imo indigenes are living in Anambra where they ran to for greener pasture. Anambra leads ![]() [s] pandax:[/s] 1 Like |

MI6Surveillance: Anambra CANNOT have largest oil or gas reserve when Imo State is in SE. The hope for Anambra ever competing in oil production will be Ogbaru LGA ( Ameshi & Enyie Fields); Most of Anambra West & East axis oil wells will be ceded to kogi state eventually. There are 33 villages in my town and it is sharply divided into 2 by Enugu/Onitsha federal expressway. I am born and bred in my town and know all the landmarks till date. |
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by MI6Surveillance: 7:52am On Sep 01, 2021 |
I don't care how bitter and frustrated you are over this issue, but the fact is that Anambra has the largest oil and gas deposits in igbo land. This is a fact you have been crying over since yesterday Anambra was officially declared an oil producing state. Anambra east and Anambra west shall continue to be in Anambra because it's part and parcel of Anambra. Your evil wishes can only befall you(pandax) and your useiess backward Imo state. You outsiders always focused on knowing all the places in Anambra, but you are never interested in knowing anywhere in your Imo state, that's why it was easy for a supreme court 419 incompetent governor to be foisted on you guys. Now almost everywhere in Owerri is terrorist den, but you are more concerned with study of how many communities in Anambra. You may have been born in Awka, just like many of your Imo kith and kins that their grand fathers lived in Anambra where they had their children. Some areas in Onitsha have large population of Imolites that you would think that the place is now Imo state due to their dialect and culture. So we know you people, you cannot deceive anyone here ok [s] pandax:[/s] 1 Like |

Anambra’s Oil-bearing Status: A Good Fight By C. Don Adinuba When he received on Tuesday, August 31, a letter from the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission pronouncing Anambra a petroleum-bearing state with all the benefits like entitlement to the 13% derivation principle in the sharing of national revenue, Governor Willie Obiano read the letter twice. Convinced it is real, he passed it to three aides around him and recited a scriptural passage which reads: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who loved his appearing” (2 Timothy 4: 5- ![]() He quickly explained: “This fight has not been a one-man show, but the collective effort of Anambra people, especially those in my administration who have defied all the odds to fight for their beloved state. For instance, Mrs Patricia Igwebuike, the Special Adviser on Legal Matters and Petroleum Resources, has not for once rested on her laurels.” The struggle took years and grit to prosecute. Lives were even sacrificed. Immediately Orient Petroleum Company, a private company supported since 2001 by the Anambra State government, began to produce crude oil in the Aguleri area of the state, neighbouring Kogi State began to lay claim to the ownership of the hydrocarbon. People in Ibaji, Kogi State, and Aguleri Otu in Anambra East Local Government Area fought, lives were lost and properties lost. This was in the first part of 2013, a year before Obiano became Anambra governor. The next year, Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company, an Indian hydrocarbon firm, secretly moved to the neighbouring communities of Ogwuaniocha and Ogwuikpele in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, and started to produce oil. The Anambra State government was not aware of this enterprise until 2019 and quickly moved into action when it received a report about the oil drilling, investigated it and found it true. For some reason, the oil produced in Ogbaru LGA was attributed to Delta State, and not Anambra State. Worse, there was no environmental and social impact assessment by either the Anambra State government or the Federal Government, resulting in enormous environmental degradation. Efforts by the state government to engage Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) did not yield tangible results. Obiano was left with no choice than to escalate the matter to the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Federal Ministry of Justice. He then turned attention to the Federal Ministry of the Environment, with which it last November organized a conference at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake in Anambra State, on the profound environmental implications of SEEPCO activities. All stakeholders criticized the energy firm. With incontrovertible evidence showing that the oil wells in question belong to Anambra State, coupled with Obiano’s persistent letters and visits to relevant government agencies in Abuja, the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission had no choice than to write a letter to Governor Obiano on August 24 confirming that the governor is right about the ownership of the oil wells. The oil wells are Nzam -1, Alo-1, Ogbu-1, Ameshi 1, 2, 3 and 4, as well as Enyie 1, 2, 3 and 4. In addition, there are River 1, 2 and 3 oil wells with proceeds to be shared equally between Anambra and Kogi states until the boundary dispute between the two states is resolved. The 50: 50 sharing ratio may not go down with some people in Anambra State because, apart from the fact that much of the oil in these parts comes from Anambra, it is the state that developed the three oil wells in the first place. What may be the outcome, it has been a glorious fight. The struggle to get Anambra officially and formally designated oil-producing has ended in praise. Things are shaping up for Anambra State. From building one of Africa’s most modern and largest international airports to building Africa’s largest international conference to exploits in education, security, health, agriculture and now oil and gas, it has been good news all the way. Truly, the state is up to its reputation as the Light of the Nation. God bless Anambra State. Adinuba is Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Anambra State. 4 Likes
