The pan Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Friday said the Southeast needs Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, if they are to stand a chance to produce Nigeria’s president in 2023.

Dim Uche Okwukwu, Deputy President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, said Tinubu controls the votes in Yoruba land; hence the Igbos need him to produce Nigeria’s president.

Speaking exclusively with DAILY POST, Okwukwu urged the people of the Southeast to show solidarity to the APC National Leader over his ill-health.

Okwukwu pointed out that the former governor of Lagos State was the most benevolent Nigerian politician after Ahmadu Bello.

According to Okwukwu: “Most of my people don’t understand why it’s important to express solidarity with Asiwaju at this moment, the truth is that even if we are to produce an Igbo President we cannot do it without Yoruba votes and that vote is in the hands of one man and i know he has firm control of Yoruba land.

"I studied in Ife, and I understand Nigeria perfectly. In 1959, the progressives lost government in this country to the conservatives because Zik and Awolowo disagreed. In 1979, they lost again because Zik and Awolowo disagreed.

“The Northern progressives always lost on to the Southern progressives to come together; Asiwaju is one of the few remaining progressives from the UPN, AG, ACN and today to APC; he is one of the few remaining alive. People don’t understand his role, which is to lead the old to the new. This is why he has a lot of influence in Yoruba land.

“I have said this severally, that Tinubu is the only Nigerian that is politically benevolent, no Nigerian today can nominate his boy to become Speaker of the House of Representatives who is bigger than him. The highest Tinubu has ever attained was the governor of Lagos. The Vice President was his Attorney General in Lagos. This is what they call a large heart; the only person who exhibited these qualities in Nigeria was Ahmadu Bello, who allowed Tafawa Balewa to become Prime Minister while he was still in Kaduna.

“What is causing the problem of the South is political greed, and we are cultivating a crab culture. If you put crabs in a basket for three years, they will be there with no one escaping. We need to copy from Asiwaju a lot; what I can not do, another person should do it. On the vice president’s issue, Tinubu, who is a Muslim, asked Osinbajo to go because he is a Christian who is far younger than him. The only political position Osinbajo had before becoming the Vice President was the Attorney General of Lagos State; nobody has moved from that position to the Vice President in Nigeria’s history apart from Osinbajo and Asiwaju allowed it.

“If we follow the lessons of Asiwaju, we would not complain. The bane of Southern politics is that we don’t want another person to be stronger than us, and we are not getting it right. We need him to be alive; his death is not going to be a loss to Yorubas alone but to Nigeria.”

Anyways,

Since it's already obvious that he won't be eligible to contest comes 2023.

Igbos might need to work with him in other to get enough needed votes in the S,west.

My brothers from the East needs to work together with him and with other peoples like him in other regions, and stop believing that PDP or APC would give them an automatic ticket comes 2023

I don't know why they think that an Igbo presidency will solve our problems, the presidency might only make sure that the python dance doesn't happen during his tenure but what about the unemployment and under development that the east have been subjected to for years , is everything going to be reversed overnight? And many many issues like that....

Ndi Ohaneze a sef!!!

A man that went to the East to look for votes twice even with two Igbo sons as running mates; Umuzioke Okadigbo and still couldn't get up to 10 per cent votes can never be welcome in the East. He is eternally unwelcomed there, he is an age-long turn-off for them and no amount of washing can cleanse Buhari in the face of these people. Even if he uses eggs to make akpu for them, they will say the egg is hard! Such is the lamentable fate of Buhari in the hands of the East.
No leader, I repeat has given infrastructural attention to the East than Buhari yet he reigns grotesquely infamous before them. He made the airports in the region world-class-something that wasn't achieved even when Stella Odua and Osita Chidoka were ministers of aviation; making reality the 2nd Niger Bridge that was used repeatedly as campaign toast by politicians. This man made all these possible yet he is enemy number! Werin the man do una sef?
The cry now is that he was not welcome yesterday to Imo, do you welcome the bride you don't love? Curiously musing

Igbo should forget 2023, they have allowed Ipob destroyed every bridge with SW and the north.
SS is now divided because of forceful annexing from ipob. Not even Tinubu could save them.

Whoever is in the background trying to discredit Buhari using Igbos is an enemy to Igbos.
APC used the same strategy in 2015 to remove PDP but they didn't go ahead destroying bridges like PDP is doing

Nobody need Tinubu. You need the masses. If the people turn their backs on Tinubu today,he’s finished. Tinubu himself needs the people. Period! undecided

Hmmmm. Some igbos are beginning to wake up. Politics is a game, you need to be very strategic. If any southerner is to become the president, Tinubu must contribute a lot to ensure that.

Igbos, wake up!!!!

But where is it all going to end? all these efforts are still being directed towards the establishment of a system that corrupts human affairs and makes human beings blind to their true potentials

What we all need is The Unity. When The Unity comes and orchestrates the coming of The New Era, humanity will be made to realise its true purpose and potentials and together in truth, we will combat all forces of evil that are corrputing the earth.

We await your coming, our dear Unity. grin

In as much as what he said is true

I think South East shouldn't base their politics on emotions

The East are in this situation because the former political representatives didn't really do much to influence the region positively with the juicy appointments they enjoyed under PDP thus us the reason for what they're sufdee8bg eight now under APC government
