I teach English language in a secondary school and the pay 30k. I take about 3 students on home lessons which also adds to my pay. Just do your best and make sure u get home lessons. It will help u. Wish u all the best

Learn the art of storytelling, you'll need it alot to drive home your points and to keep the class interested in your lectures

Why waste your for 25k monthly job ? They are petty biz that pays better. You can even print a handbill, past them in a busy areas, those who need private teachers can contact you.. you will make more money from it..

It will advance your knowledge .but have it in back of your mind,that you will teach more than a subject..as a biologist,you should be able to offer Agriculture science, basic science and technology,if possible, maths.

Well today was my first day as a teacher. Mehn those student were bored as hell. It's like their attention doesn't cross 5 mins. The lesson note the school required me to make is like I am back to high institution.

This is my dream. I have read numerous books for this. Marilee Adams( teaching that saves live still stuck with me) . Well for the girls I have nothing to do with them other than teach them. My problem now is one of my subject is only for just one student and she is a female.

i am too apprehensive speaking with teenagers and other things like that. Just want to use it to build confidence as i am a corper and would like to go into career that involves "Conversation." in the future .

Not too stressful compared to primary school, just know your onion. Also bear it in mind that you will be teaching jss1-ss3(minimum of 2 subjects) learn how to write lesson note too. They will prolly teach you.

Teaching is modern day slavery but then not too many jobs on this country. Nothing to enjoy about teaching, I so much dislike it.

Lesson notes will drain you...while u are on it,try and explore other opportunities.

One thing with teaching is that it won't give you opportunities for other jobs, you can stay teaching for years, whiling away your precious time building someone else's organization and making meagre money.

Kids of nowadays are the most difficult to deal with.
Apart from teaching them, be ready to fight occasionally with some of their parents who are ill-mannered, unless you are not the disciplinarian kind, anyways. And if you are too tolerant, the children will successfully frustrate the hell out of you.
If you are mentally tough, all the challenges will make you a stronger person going forward, but if you ain't, I'll advise you not to take the job, to avoid depression.

But if your mind is already made up, then you can use home lessons to add up to the meagre salary.

That's one of the most poverty stricken professions in Africa.

Teaching is so stressful. I'm currently teaching in a private school and they pay me 20k in a month, I use up to 8k for transportation. I teach 3 subjects, JSS1 to JSS3. I'm expected to write lesson notes for all subjects, but I only choose to write for just 1 subject (that's 3 lesson notes), myself and the school director had so many issues on that lesson note. But it is what it is, that's what I want to do. So they will want to use you like hell, that's for Sure.
