Shimia:I would advice you see your doctor and arrange to be seen by an endocrinologist . Alternatively, see an endocrinologist your self preferably in a teaching hospital. 1) The diagnosis of Cushing's needs to be confirmed. 2) Other causes of Cushing, need to be excluded. 3) TTC has physical, emotional and endocrine components. 4) The PCOS need to be addressed beyond the birth control pills. 5) You need to be co- managed by a gynaecologist and an endocrinologist. 6) When was the last time you took Prednisolone? What's you Serum cortisol and plasma ACTH levels? What's your blood sugar level, and your blood pressure? |

Good day doc,I have been diagnosed with gynecomastia for the last two years, and also been having sperm issues(motility and morphology issues). A doctor prescribed tamoxifen which I have been taking for the last two months. Will this improve my sperm profile characteristics? If not what would you advice, what could be the underlying issues and possible treatment? |

bo1w0nda: Tamoxifen is an anti-estrogen therapy commonly used in breast cancer treatment; recent studies have suggested that it can also be used as an alternative to surgery to treat gynecomastia in men. So who placed You on Tamoxifen and why? Have you done a hormone profile? |

The doctor(fertility doctor) placed me on tamoxifen...... Results of my hormonal profile are as follow : Testosterone (Total)= 12.5nmol/L S-Follitropin(FSH) = 6.9U/L S-Lutropin(LH) = 10.2U/L S-Prolactin = 16.6ng/mL |
Re: Endocrinologist In The House. Ask All Your Questions On Diabetes And Other Endoc by Desanta(m): 12:04am On May 08, 2019 |
bo1w0nda: The reference range for total serum testosterone concentration in adult males differs between laboratories. An approximate range is 8 - 35 nmol/L. Normal FSH levels will differ, Male: Before puberty - 0 to 5.0 IU/L.. Adult - 1.5 to 12.4 IU/L. For males, the normal range LH is 1.24–7.8 IU/L. The normal range for prolactin in your blood are: Males: 2 to 18ng/mL. So your testesterone is low normal, your FSH and prolactin are normal, but your LH is elevated. In men, high levels of LH in the blood are a sign of a problem with the testicles. Here is my recommendation to improve your seminal fluid analysis (SFA): 1) vit c tablets, 1gram daily. 2) zinc tablet, 200mg daily. 3) Welman conception tablet, 1 daily. 4) vit D + Calcium tablet, 1 daily. 5) No alcohol or cigarettes. Eat lots of fruit, nuts and green vegetables. Watch your weight, blood sugar and blood pressure. All for 3 months then repeat your SFA and compare it with what it used to be. |

Good morning Dr. I would love to seek your opinion on something. I started having feelings of anxiety and depression last year December. I didn't quite understand it at first but it persisted. I was experiencing fatigue, low mood, memory issues, slurred speech and other symptoms. I was depressed and always anxious. I did some research online and found out it could be depression or hypothyroidism. I saw a GP in March, He said my symptoms were similar to depression so I was placed on antidepressants. I told him I felt something else must have been causing it because I dont believe it just came out of nowhere. I took the drug for some months, I felt a bit better but I wasn't still okay. The drug was causing a lot of side effects, so I stopped taking it. I'm planning on doing some thyroid function tests this week to confirm that. I have a feeling something is wrong with my thyroid. I'm still experiencing those feelings and thoughts but I hope the test will reveal more. Recently, I noticed a bit of lump in my throat. I would love to know if my thyroid is causing these. |
Re: Endocrinologist In The House. Ask All Your Questions On Diabetes And Other Endoc by Desanta(m): 11:47am On Aug 20, 2019 |
Kruize: Thyroid disorders can cause a lot of mood changes, depression being inclusive. To confirm any problem with the thyroid gland, you will need to do a Thyroid Function Test ( Thyroid hormone profile). Based on the result, we decide what to do next. |

Incandescent:Disorders of the thyroid gland can cause itching. However, there should be other symptoms or signs of thyroid disease. I think you should see a dermatologist (Available in every goverment teaching hospital), who would assess the skin lession and ask further questions to rule out thyroid disease. If it will make you feel better, do a Thyroid Function Test to be sure that you don't have problems with your thyroid gland. 1 Like |

Desanta:Good Morning, for about a year I've been waking up feeling hot inside my body. All the insides of my ears, armpit, butt and feet are hot. I've been having shortness of breath 24/7 and I have taken everything from dexa to cipro and asthma medicines and antibiotics and nothing worked. I've also been having headaches and confusions that makes me unable to concentrate. I can't hold heated conversations I get dizzy. I also experience slurred speech from time to time. I experience weakness in my limbs and anxiety as well. Constipation and changes in my bowel movements. Another symptom I've been experiencing that might indicate that I've been having something far more than a year is that my eyes have been yellow since I was a teenager. The part of the eyes that's white is very yellow in mine. Another thing is when my beard grew in, they are very thin and they fall off just by touching them. @Desanta |

Babysho: Have you done any test? You need to do the following test ASAP: 1) Liver function test and serum proteins. 2) Thyroid function test ( Thyroid hormone profile). |

Desanta: Please sir, what's the possible cost of thyroid function test? In 2007, I was diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis when headache refused to go, hand tremors, and little swelling of my thyroid gland in the neck. I was referred to UCH but I didn't continue the consultation because I couldn't afford abou 12 tests including TFT. The headache lingered till 2012 before it couldn't disturb me again but I abused painkillers like aspirin which led to malignant duodenal ulcer I'm still battling with till today. The swelling on neck is still the same today. The problem now is that I'm always having dry mouth and frequent urination and tests revealed I have no STD. Headache still intermittent. I'm also not diabetic. I studied animal health in the university and I suspect this is hypercalcemia and I know hypercalcemia is linked to thyroid problems. If you advise I pursue thyroid treatment, what is the latest cost of TFT? THANKS. |

Thyroid function test is about 7k. You may need to do a serum calcium test and serum proteins in addition just to be sure of what we are dealing with. |

Desanta: Hello Desanta For a while now i have been having this continuous feverish symptoms. Like every month i must battle with malaria. Sometimes it affects me so much i loose weight. I have done STD tests and nothing. Even urinalysis. The last time i did a blood test for protein level, doctor said it was okay. For over two years now, my Fasting sugar has been 98. I don't know if its this thyroid thing. It's really affecting my mood. Yes i was experiencing slurred speech and my hands do shake sometimes. Keeping balance is a challenge sometimes and when i feel feverish it is worse. Please what tests do i go for because these doctors don't even know what to tell me |

Desanta:pls help me with this result LH 2.8mlU, FSH 1.0mlU, prolactin 22ng/ml, testosterone 584ng/ml and the comment is Hypergonadotropic. I'm a 40yrs old man |
Re: Endocrinologist In The House. Ask All Your Questions On Diabetes And Other Endoc by Desanta(m): 8:27pm On Sep 15, 2021 |
barecy4real: Do you mean Hypergonadotropic hypogonadism? Hypergonadotropic hypogonadism is defined by lowered Testosterone levels (although serum Testosterone concentrations might be above the lower limit of the normal range) and significantly elevated levels of LH and FSH. Your results show marginally deranged Prolactin and FSH, which should not cause hypogonadism. A lot of other things including stress ( physical, emotional, spiritual or poor health), and life style can give this kind of result. |

Re: Endocrinologist In The House. Ask All Your Questions On Diabetes And Other Endoc by Desanta(m): 6:51pm On Sep 19, 2021 |
barecy4real: You need to see an endocrinologist. You will need to answer some questions and some measurements of your body will be taken. Thereafter, some investigations and treatment can be carried out. |

barecy4real:I'm happy you are not dealing with infertility. These are my recommendations: 1) Wellman original, 1 tablet daily. 2) Zinc tablets 50mg twice a day with food. 3) Vitamin C tablets 1000mg daily ( As a single tablet or in divided doses). 4) Vitamin D tablets 1000 IU daily. 5) CoQ10 tablet 100mg daily. Use the above for a minimum of 3 months you will definitely feel better. |

Hi doc. What could be the cause of foamy urine. I've foamy urine sometimes early in the morning and during the day I don't experience it. Sometimes my urine output is small compare to the amount of water I took over 24hrs and sometimes it's more. Does days that my urine output are small, the color is concentrated and when it's more, it's very clear. I've done urinalysis and kidney function test almost 3 years ago when the symptoms started and it all came normal Now I'm experiencing such and I don't know if something is actually wrong with me I started noticing the foamy urine about 2 weeks now. Though it doesn't come up everyday. I've urinated twice this nite. The first is foamy, the second isn't foamy. What can I do?
