This one na long thing. Sorry for your loss. Go and make a report at the closest police station to where the incident happened, it’ll give you credibility when telling your uncle about it. So you didn’t get the taxi’s license plate no?

Relax 200k isn't that big money over there..

He might get mad at you first but he sure won't kill you..
Highest he will develop trust issues towards you..

Shit happens

$400 is money to many Nigerians over there. That's almost a weeks minimum wage.

Go and report to the Police and get a Police extract.
Weren't you issued any teller at the bank?
Use that for the police extract.
Then inform your uncle asap with the police extract as your proof.
Your uncle may have trust issue with you, but your conscience is at peace with you.

You should have gone to the bank to rake. Am 99 percent sure the robbers were tipped off by whoever paid you the money in the bank. I have seen a situation like this. As soon as it happened the guy went to the bank to hold the cashier who paid him and made a whole lot of noise. After investigations, she was arrested and is was a culprit

I had a similar experience. My boss sent me to withdraw about 2m from the bank. They delayed me and I became uncomfortable. Immediately I finished the transaction and stepped out of the banking hall, a guy I saw in banking hall followed me out into the street. Meanwhile I saw this guy walked in, I observed that he didn't carry out any transaction, he was just there and observing.
My intuition hit me immediately, I walked two poles then entered another bank.
This guy in question just stood across in a street opposite the bank and waited and I was inside the second bank observing him.
I stayed in that bank for complete 4 hours, I checked back he wasn't there but I still had to take some precaution because some other person could be assigned the observation responsibility.
I called my brother to bring me a shirt and my sunshades. He came to the bank, gave the stuff and I quickly changed my shirt, put on my shades, strolled out of the bank and left on a bike.
Fear bankers oooo, especially access Bank.

I don't want to doubt you o, but are you sure you were really robbed? If you were, the nearest Police station would have been your first port of call, not Nairaland. Hope you're not trying to use the current situation of the country as your alibi.
My thoughts too. How come they didn't collect your PHONE?

You can recover that money if those aboki guys agree to help you. At the point of withdrawing the money, the bank gave you a withdrawal slip to sign. Go and retrieve that slip from them and make a copy. Take it to aboki and plead with them to help circulate those serials within their network and anyone that brings those serials to change to naira would be caught.

What happens if the thieves decide to change the notes in another city?

Not everyone is a menial worker, ya know. Some proffesionals earn as high as $50-$100 per hour in the states. Besides, some also have multiple streams of income. To such people $400 is a chicken feed.

Yesterday I went to the bank to get money that my uncle who is staying in the United states sent to me for use in paying for a Hisense deep freezer which I already told him the market price. He sent the money through western union and it was $400 in total.
I was robbed at gun point in a cab on my way to beurue de change to change it to naira.... I have been crying since yesterday, dont even know how to start explaining everything to him. I'm so confused.
Even going to the police is not a viable option because I dont have any reasonable information to give. Please someone should advise me on what to do because my mind is blank at this moment.

This issue doesn't need advice ...government ban those people you are going to patronize ...you ought to have changed the money in that bank , put it in your account and live to the place you are going to buy the fridge . But you decided to patronise black market . One has to be wise. ...I don't care how much additional income I am gonna get from the black market ...safety is my watch word ...The robbers were able to rob you cos you have the cash with you. If you change it at the bank and deposit it In your account and you kept your atm at home....they won't force cash out of you . Just tell your brother the truth but your integrity is at stake ...if I were you ,i will get that fund on my own and buy the fridge without telling him ....he might have trust issues with you ....I wish other learn from your experience ...if some bank staff give info to criminals to waylay their clients on the way ...

You right man. 15 x 40 = 600. He will be lucky to go home with $400 at end of the week by the time they deducted union dues, 401k, medical insurance, federal tax, state tax and local tax

Better go to the police and make a statement then call your uncle.

That is how you people put innocent people into problem. What if the cashier knows nothing about it? You cant use one case to generalize issue.

Then, it's bye to the money but thieves are usually not that smart. It's hard to find a thief that is also smart. That's why 90% of the time, you can know a text / mail is from a scammer once you read them.

The exact reason, paying money into a bank account, remains the best option ........

Inside job ...... Call your uncle and explain..... We only die once.....

Ehen, nah 3 days work.

10 hr work day $450.

Can you see N200k in Nigeria without working for a corporate for 30 days ?

It's small money over there.

EMBRACE CRYPTO!!

EMBRACE CRYPTO!!

If he had sent it in crypto the money would be in your bank account and you would have made transfer at the point of buying the deep freezer.

Problem solved..

I pity you. Most of all these bankers give information to criminals. Majority of them are the cause of bvn scam being rampant. You too apply common sense. Why would they just rob the guy immediately after collecting 400 dollars? Am sure the guy wasn't looking flamboyant. Anyway maybe when it happens to you, u will understand. All those cashiers in western union/money gram dept in banks are all thieves
