If the previous baptism is not by immersion, he would need to do another baptism which is by immersion. Our Lord Jesus was baptized by immersion. Read Matthew 3:13-16. Mark 1:9.

Jesus Christ never said immersion was the only way to baptism, neither did John the Baptist. In fact, if you go back to where God Himself decreed baptisms as a sign, He Himself spoke of it, in relation to His New Covenant, as a sprinkling of pure water to wash away all forms of idolatry from the lives of His own - Ezekiel 36 vs 25 - 27 and we all know that Jesus Christ is the very Word out of God's own mouth and so He would never go against God's own Truth since He is, after all, God’s own Truth. undecided

So, tell whoever deceived you info believing immersion as the only kind of baptism by water acceptable by God that he or she is nothing but a Liar and a false teacher who nothing of the Truth of God. undecided

I guess the church is RCCG, they won't allow you join the workers if you don't repeat baptism by immersion in water no matter the church you did it before.
There is no such thing as immersion as correct kind of baptism. God Himself described the ritual, in relation to His New Covenant, as a sprinkling of pure water to wash away the stains of idolatry on His people, this in Ezekiel 36 vs 25 - 27. undecided

It depends on the kind of baptism u did earlier. If its baby baptism done in Catholic n other orthodox churches, its not regarded as baptism in pentecostal churches. Its only baptism by immersion, the one u do after accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour when u are conscious of yoursef either as a teenager or an adult not the one ur parents took u to church at 3 months and water is sprinkled on your head. Immersion is what is regarded as baptism either in pentecostal churches or Baptist Churches. You need to be conscious of your self, confess Jesus as your Lord and saviour and be immersed in water. So if its not immersion you've had earlier at your previous church, you do not need to be batized again.

Not forced. Pls don't get me wrong it's not necessary to redo that's why I said it's never too much. Asking about Jesus. Do u even know Jesus was without sin as a man? Do u know He was perfect? Baptism I believe should be done properly and out of personal conviction. The open coming here to ask probably doesn't know the meaning. Baptism is an identification with Christ and should be done in spirit and truth not just proper immersion in water. If he feels conviction in his spirit to identify properly now or if he doesn't feel the need to redo it is his choice. Nobody know finish hence I said it's never enough.

Also some pastors will say the practice of sprinkling after on people’s head is not baptism as some churches do..... so they will advice your take baptism by full immersion..

Altogether... Jesus never discussed about the number of times you can do it....neither did he say doing t more than once is a crime...if you don’t want to, dey your dey...what some pastor say shouldn’t bother you as long as Jesus didnt day so..

1. Your friend's first baptism is not by immersion and this new denomination only accept immersion.

SOme churches are particular of the nature of baptism
1. Baptism by Immersion
2. Baptism by Sprinkling

As a person, I think Baptism should be by immersion.

If your friend will not go to church because a pastor said unless he is baptized, is he truly born again?
Why dont he go to another church where he would be accepted?

Every church have their own rules, if you are not comfortable with theirs, join another church

Do you baptise in the name of a church or in the name of Jesus?

Baptism strictly means being dead to sin and self and alive to Christ Jesus. Except the Church is not a Bible believing one, it's done once and for all.

However, if you lacked the understanding of baptism and salvation at the first experience, it may be expedient do to do again.

According to God in Ezekiel 36 vs 25, in regards to His New Covenant, God said He will sprinkle pure water on His people to cleanse them from their idols. Surely you see that God indeed deems it necessary for those of His who will partake in His offer to them through Jesus Christ. undecided

In John 3 vs 1 - 8, Jesus Christ decree that except a man be born-again- born from water and Spirit- He cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. undecided

The same Jesus Christ came to men preaching preaching same message of repentance that John the Baptist, who came before Him preached , the message of Repentance, and According to John in Matthew 3 vs 7 - 11, water baptism is a mark , a witness, that one has chosen Repentance, a new birth. undecided

Before He leaves the earth, Jesus Christ, though He is never recorded to have baptised anyone Himself, this since baptism is a transition from the Old way to the New way ("washing away of sins" to "forgiveness of sins"wink, He sends His followers out to baptize those who believe in order that they may be saved - Mark 16 vs 16-19 undecided

Surely, you must see that without baptism, there is no eternal life, since without gaining entry into the Kingdom of God also means one remains condemned to die I.e. perish in th grave. undecided

I do not think it is necessary to get baptized again. As long as it was baptism by immersion, then you're good to go.

I got baptized by immersion in RCCG. I left there and joined Christ Embassy years ago. During my Foundation School, they asked me if I have been baptized before, I said yes. I did not get baptized again.
