Just look at this nonsense that looks like rice milling plant. No major retail outlets like shoprite have agreed to go there, because it will be a bad business. How many people in ebonyi can afford to shop in shoprite, when the poverty level in ebonyi is over 80%. Useless miscreants 4 Likes 1 Share

I can even smell your ebonyi smells from here. You can never be from Awka or even anywhere in Anambra. Anambra has no direct boundaries with your backward ebonyi, but you awusa people from ebonyi state traveled thousands of kilometres to land in Anambra. There are more population of ebonyi people living in Anambra than the population of ebonyi people living in ebonyi state. So it is very easy for an ebonyi indigene to claim to be indigene of Anambra because the only home they knew has always been Anambra. [s] Pass11:[/s] 2 Likes |

Inferiority complex worry abakiliki people a lot. You are showing pics that don't reflect the true reality on ground in a backward state like ebonyi here on Anambra thread, is it for Anambra to accept abikiliki people as Igbos or what? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by ChimaAdeoye: 2:08pm On Nov 13, 2021 |
The reason I endorse concrete roads over asphalt roads in the journey to pave more roads are that; 1. They are cheaper and much more durable than asphalt (Especially when reinforced with small steel bars). 2. The can easily be built by low-skilled artisans because all you need are stones, cement, water, and wooden planks to retain the area for the concrete to harden. 3. Average 1KM asphalt road costs about N300 - N500 million naira, while average 1KM concrete road costs about N30 - N50 Million naira. Therefore, for a cash-strapped developing country looking to deploy paved roads to reach as many locations as possible, concrete roads are the solution. You simply should not use the amount to construct 10KM of the concrete road to build just 1KM of asphalt road. Which ironically lasts half the lifetime of concrete roads. Efforts to achieve a very high-quality finish on concrete roads should be ensured by the supervisor. It is not a reason to reject the proven technology. 3 Likes |

ChimaAdeoye:We don't need such cheap and corner cutting projects in Anambra. If at-all there is anyone Soludo should emulate in terms of infrastructural project... He should emulate Dr. Chris Ngige (The formal governor of Anambra State) at least the result is there for everyone to see. Comewhatmay, Asphalt road remain the best when it's well built. Pics below: Ebonyi flyover. Take a close look at the beam. They are not even straight. They are not only covering the poor work with aluminum panel but also put parallel barricades on the flyover... 2 Likes 1 Share

Landmack:Nobody can compare asphalt with concrete especially in its advantages to moist retaining, clay like Igbo land soil. I remember listening to one seminar when I was in Bini and the structural engineer proposed that unlike the Northern part of Nigeria where asphalt is OK, for a lasting road to be done in the east that the contractora must make use of concrete (and that was almost 4 years before Umahi became Governor). I think that man's degree is not for fancy. Seeing him implement what took someone years of research shows that he did his homework before embarking on it. 4 Likes |

BKayy: The attitude of some of these guys claiming to be Igbo can be very disgusting. I don't know if it's just inferiority complex or just crab mentality. If Umahi were to be from outside Igboland, they would have been using him as yardstick for good governance. Ndi uchu!! 4 Likes |
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by BKayy: 5:15pm On Nov 13, 2021 |
If my memory serve me well, the Structural engineer holding the seminar said that Igboland actually have no business with asphalt, except as a top for a very thick solid slab else it will be like sticking glue to wet substance. And also he said that the life span of the two places concrete ahead plus concrete requires less maintenance. Asphalt will require more maintenance every 3 or something years and will last for less than 20 years (average of 10-20 years depending on the maintenance), that is if the maintenance is followed religiously (something I think we cant boast of in Africa) but Concrete requires less maintenance (maybe whenever) and occasionally topping but will last up to 50 years So you see, no matter how much many will try to soil Umahi name or his peculiar achievement in that concrete road, one thing is certain, in the next 20 years Ebonyi will be one of the few or only Igbo state to boast of working road because at that time, all our asphalt has wearied out and politicians will start using it for campaign. 4 Likes |

Biafrarep:Forgive them. I don't think they know what they are doing. It is a general something. Just like this throwing Igala jabs at Anambra was actually started by the same Igbo people here who are not from Anambra but now e dey shame everybody including them. Some even take it to the next level by saying Obiano is Igala. Same with the Beautiful Obiano's Airport looking like a ware house. This is why they say never defame your brother in public because the person you are telling it to will use it to laugh at you. Remember this word he used to describe the Mall, it will be used by enemies of Ndigbo in few months time when it will be unveiled as the biggest in Nigeria. 3 Likes 1 Share |

BKayy: RCC used concrete as a sub base on the roads that Ngige built and the road they are constructing from Umunya. Same with the company that reconstructed old Enugu road. But the reason many street roads collapse is poor drainage and poor soil stabilisation. The local contractors compact the soil and overlay it with asphalt. Water does not run off completely but sometimes collects. Eventually during the rainy season when the water level rises and then falls during the dry season the soil underneath changes shape and cracks appear and then pot holes. There are also places where the soil has high clay content such as the oji axis and amansea. Clay soil retains water and has poor load bearing capacity. To construct roads in such places requires doing what RCC did at Ore which is excavate the clay and replace it with a stronger sub grade. Soludo govt should do a state wide soil mapping if it has not been done. This will help determine what materials to use to construct roads, drainage system and erosion mitigation. They should also reform the Ministry of Works, partner with external donors, bring in experts, staff it with qualified engineers to construct local roads and drainage systems according to proper engineering specifications. In terms of drainage, they should replace gutters with underground hdpe drainage pipes. Install water, sewage and cable pipes alongside them. Let it be a 30 year project building out a proper city wide integrated underground drainage, water and sewage system for Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha. 5 Likes 1 Share |

By the grace of the almighty, at the assumption of office,Soludo should embark on a radical road reconstruction beginning from the state capital which is also a vital part that mirrors Anambra state and then to Onitsha and then to Nnewi et al The three power houses of Anambra should have their roads fixed. If Soludo fixes those roads...our pple will push him for 3rd term sef Yea, Anambra has abundant road networks but the question we should be asking is this,’are they motorable enough?’ Honestly I can’t wait for Soludo to start his magic.
