MANY residents of the FCT have offered various reasons for the neglect of pedestrian bridges, including its relative distance from bus stops in some cases and the extra time required to complete the journey across. The cause is probably the "Monkey at the Tea Party" syndrome I.E you may take the monkey away from the bush but you cannot take the bush away from the monkey. When the Monkey travels to Europe or North America, the Monkey apes the behavior it sees around it. The Monkey is always at its best behavior in the West, minding its Ps and Q's, because the monkey wants to impress the natives but deep down the call of the Bush is a raging swirl. When the monkey returns to Africa, it is at last free to abandon itself to the call of the bush, thus will it consider Pedestrian Bridges fit only for squatting and shitting when, while in Europe or America, it happily emulated the natives there, crossing pedestrian bridges as they do. Sometimes, it would even shout at the top of its voice, while crossing the pedestrian bridge amongst the throng of Americans or Europeans, 'oh how civilized it is to be in Europe or America unlike Africa where governments are so corrupt , they would not dine even to consider a thing such as this wonderful bridge, that spans the busy road, for the contrivance of the general safety of all, you know!' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cfx_w5EYmDk I'm sorry but it pisses me off when i see Nigerians complaining and shouting, killing and destroying all in the name of 'We Are Suffering!!!' with your big wide mouths. You have all you need in Nigeria, stop complaining, help and work for beach other, face growing Nigeria and stop trying to shirk responsibility for developing your nation. |

shantti:Lol, I got you, bro! We need to do better regarding maintenance. We could charge a small token for movement. From that token, the cable cars can be powered and maintained. Officials will also be employed to carry out safety assessment everyday before operations commence. |

Some of these pedestrians bridges are completely useless like the one in Area 1 and the one at zone 7 near FRSC junction. I asked someone in FCTA why they will site a pedestrian Bridge in the middle of nowhere while it is needed further down the road close to a junction or a bus stop. He said the bridges are sited based on measurement That it has been calculated in the master plan that a pedestrian bridge will be sited in particular places . They have been building a pedestrian bridge opposite the garki police division opposite the cemetery that would be useless to anyone if they manage to complete it in 10 years time.unless they are telling us the people in the cemetery need to cross the road every now and then |

ChiefSosa:Cable car at the moment is like jumping primary education straight to university, the places mentioned, is it utilized by govt or private ? Definitely for business and fun, how would you run cable car where there isn't stable power supply? How effective is the railway system for interconnectivity, arial and subsurface ? These are basics to start with |

[quote author=MARKone post=107614943]If you want to get Nigerians to obey rules and regulations, na Iron hand you go use. As long as there is no one arresting them for not using the pedestrian bridge, na road everyone dey put head if they wan cross. Most of the pedestrian bridge have been turned to market places, because Nigerians won't use them. That's why I love Lagos State. Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) will always be there to arrest violators of pedestrian bridges. Remember sometimes ago when they grabbed my one of guys trying to cross Jakande-Ilasan bridge along Lekki-Epe expressway. He was forced to bail himself with 5k and his eyes became clear. 1 Like |

Kokonyo: , is it utilized by govt or private ?It can me managed/utilized by both. Definitely for business and fun, how would you run cable car where there isn't stable power supply?Cable cars can be run with other means other than with direct electricity. That's why I said little tokens can be paid by those using the cable cars to get fuel as a substitute to run the cars. Or we can also have some allocated funds from the government. We also have manually operated ones. This cable cars will only be used to move over the distance of a flyover bridge. Cable cars have been existing since the 18th/19the century. I don't know what can make it seem like an unachievable task in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Nigerians are just a bunch of lazy and stupid people who are always looking for short cuts. Build a bridge they will not use it, they say it's not safe. Police will be hanging about harassing people on the road but to protect these areas they won't. Even the foolish citizens won't bring up the purported issues until it's out of control. Give them Dubai and watch them turn it into a slum in a decade. 1 Like |
